House Dems to Nadler:
How dare you rob us of
our PR in The Mueller Show

At the moment, Robert Mueller is still scheduled to make his post-special counsel appearance next Wednesday at the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. That date may slip, or perhaps not happen at all, thanks to a revolt among Judiciary’s rank and file. With a two-hour limit and 41 committee members, junior Democrats fear not getting an opportunity for some serious media coverage: Junior lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee could get shut out of next week’s highly anticipated hearing with special counsel Robert Mueller — and they’re not happy about it.

The last line describes the most reasonable and rational solution to the problem, but Democrats continue to refuse to read the Mueller report. They don’t want Mueller to testify. What they want is another chance to re-open the impeachment narrative. After all, you have heard precious little about impeachment recently, haven’t you? The momentum to get rid of Trump seems to be flagging. While Democrats are still sitting in a circle with their flies open, Trump is merrily going along saving America and the world.

FTA: '' ...the panel’s most-anticipated hearing in years'' Haha! What a laugh! Everyone already knows how that hearing will go. Just a grandstanding opportunity for democrats to stimulate donations. Hopefully, it would be so ridiculous that even the radical base laughs!

In Mollie Hemingway's new book about the Kavanaugh experience, there is a reference to Senator Blumenthal "who had been known to stroll by reporters two or three times in an attempt to attract an interview." They're all alike.

There is a significant danger to Mueller in these hearings. Not from the whiney dems in Congress. Possibly from smart Republican questions, which Mueller can deflect by falling back on the report as a shield. The danger is that Mueller isn't all that smart or great at speaking. You saw it at his press conference. He is being held, tightly, to the facts and the applicable law by Barr and the Justice Department. THAT is why he will "stick to the report". Barr allowed him to create the report as the expected work product but the REASON Mueller came to no conclusions is because he could not come the the conclusion of guilt his team (Weissmann) wanted through legal arguments. Barr would NOT have allowed a prosecutorial decision without sufficient evidence which Mueller obviously lacked. The Sword of Damocles is hanging over Mueller's head. If Mueller now tries to reopen the report through his testimony, Barr will hand him his head (as he has more mildly done for other missteps by Mueller). The only safe path for Mueller is to stick to the report. Yet, Mueller is facing enormous pressure from Weissmann and the Left to say more. That is why he appears jumpy and he isn't managing it very well.

Democrat Internal Poll of Swing Voters
Is Leaked and the Results Are Brutal

Some Democrat strategist is going to wake up in a cold sweat later tonight after seeing this. The Democratic Party conducted an internal poll of swing voters, including their feelings on the “squad” and socialism. The result are absolutely brutal when juxtaposed with the stated positions of those running in the 2020 Democratic primary race. The poll was leaked to Axios and here are some of the results.[tweet]The poll — taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi’s latest run-in with AOC and the three other liberal House freshmen known as “The Squad” — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.
The Arrogance And The Ignorance 0 replies

Separately, arrogance and ignorance are some of humanity’s worst traits. Together, when coupled with power, they achieve “weapon-grade stupid” status. This is the marinade of the “gang of four,” the “progressive” Congresswomen – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar – who I’d accuse of having exponentially more social media followers than accomplishments, but it’s impossible to multiply by zero. This week we witnessed why those two traits together are such a problem for Democrats, and it was hilarious. Individually, the Gang of Four have strung together an uninterrupted string of gaffes, stupid statements, and racist comments that would humiliate your average teenager. But what they possess individually
The Post says: de Blasio

The lights went out on Broadway Saturday night, and Bill de Blasio was a thousand miles away in Iowa. It was the moment that perfectly captured his distracted, ego-driven failure of a mayoralty. Bill de Blasio does not care about New York City. He does not care about its people. He does not care about how it’s run. He does not care about you or your taxes, creating jobs or improving lives. All Bill de Blasio cares about is Bill de Blasio. And so, for the good of the city, Gov. Andrew Cuomo needs to remove the mayor from office. Let’s face it:

The Baltimore-based Xaverian Brothers released Friday a list of 34 members who have been accused of sexually abusing children. The list includes two men “with a credible or established offense against a minor” who are currently members of the religious order, according to documents released on the order’s website. The order also identified 18 other deceased or former Xaverian Brothers with a “credible or established offense.” Nine brothers identified by the order were at some point assigned to Mount Saint Joseph High School in Southwest Baltimore. One of the brothers, Joseph A. Cuthbert, C.F.X., has been credibly accused of sexual abuse during his tenure

It was obvious to anyone watching the men’s Wimbledon final on Sunday to notice that the crowd leaned heavily in favor of eight-time champion Roger Federer over his opponent Novak Djokovic. The New York Times summed up the crowd’s reaction: When Federer made an error, there were groans; when Djokovic made an error, there was applause. Still, the booing throughout caught the attention of many on social media. A reporter for Bloomberg tweeted, “I get that it’s a pro-Federer crowd but the booing of Djokovic at Wimbledon was undeserved and sort of pathetic.”

Vice President Biden’s promise to resume the Obama administration’s appeasement of the theocratic dictators of Iran is a shocking marker. It is the headline news in the foreign policy platform Mr. Biden just outlined in a speech at New York University. It comes from the politician said to be the most centrist figure in the Democratic scrum. So it will reinforce President Trump’s credibility in the coming campaign. On the one hand, this isn’t surprising. Mr. Biden himself has always been a weak figure in the Middle East. When he was on the Foreign Relations Committee, he was so condescending to Menachem Begin that the visiting Israeli premier publicly

Rep. Devin Nunes said Republicans plan to grill former special counsel Robert Mueller about his top prosecutor when he testifies in an open setting later this month. Andrew Weissmann, who was known as Mueller's "pitbull," will be the subject of multiple lines of inquiry, the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee told Fox News' Bill Hemmer on an episode of the "Hemmer Time" podcast. In a preview of what he and his GOP colleagues will ask on July 24, Nunes said Mueller will be pressed on why the FBI withheld from his panel that Weissmann briefed Associated Press reporters in 2017 on "something to do with the Trump-Russia investigation"

A lex Acosta did a bad job on the Jeffrey Epstein case. This column was nearly finished when news broke Friday that he would resign as labor secretary. I was going to argue that his lapses did not justify joining the nakedly political mau-mauing by Democrats who have no interest in exploring the behavior of Democrats who are neck-deep in a monstrous pedophile’s activities. My friend Jennifer Braceras has ably addressed that point in a Washington Examiner column. I was also going to add that I’d shed no tears if President Trump forced Acosta out — easy for me to say, since I think (a) he should never

Remember Tom Hanks’ famous line from “A League of Their Own”? “There’s no crying in baseball.” Well, if President Trump had coined a motto back in 2016, it probably would have been, “There’s no apologizing in politics.” No matter how much outrage Trump sparked, he never said he was sorry. You could argue that there were times when an apology was warranted. (The McCain War Hero debacle in 2015 comes to mind). But there is no arguing that Trump’s strategy was a bold one. And as the 2020 election nears, he is still the only individual steering clear of the words, “I’m sorry.”
The Real Danger of Categorical Politics 6 replies

Conservatives talk a lot about how we don’t like identity politics. But it’s not always clear what people mean by it. Academics and intellectuals tend to mean one thing, while politicians and activists often have something slightly different in mind. Democratic politicians who engage in identity politics often mean something like “ethnic politics,” by which members of a community organize in their collective interest. Conservatives sometimes use “identity politics” to describe simple ethnic politics, but only when it’s ethnic politics they don’t like. What they leave out is that this form of political engagement is as old as the country itself, because it’s as old as politics itself.

‘We’re holding a gun to our own heads,’ said Sen. John Cornyn in June. He was talking about President Trump’s threat to impose tariffs in order to force Mexico to crack down on illegal immigration into the Unites States. Many congressmen agreed, fearing, as establishment figures are prone to do, that Trump was risking the whole economy for some nebulous border demand. A month later, it seems Trump’s tariff gambit has worked. After Mexican officials agreed to crack down on illegal immigration to avoid US-imposed tariffs, the Department of Homeland Security reports that border apprehensions dropped from 144,278 in May to 104,344 in June — a 28 percent decrease.

In two essays, “Illness as Metaphor” in 1978 and “AIDS and Its Metaphors” in 1988, the critic Susan Sontag observed that you can learn a lot about a society from the metaphors it uses to describe disease. She also suggested that disease itself can serve as a metaphor—a reflection of the society through which it travels. In other words, the way certain illnesses spread reveals something not just about a nation’s physiological health but also about its cultural and political health. For instance, AIDS would not have ravaged America as fully as it did without institutionalized homophobia, which inclined many Americans to see the disease as retribution for gay sex.
