Authorities in Colorado restored an American flag to its place Friday evening after protesters demonstrating outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility pulled down the star-spangled banner and flew the flag of Mexico in its place. The protesters also removed a “Blue Lives Matter” flag, honoring law enforcement, spray-painted it with the words “Abolish ICE,” then raised the flag upside-down, on a pole next to the Mexican flag, according to local media. Hundreds of protesters had gathered in Aurora, Colo., outside the federal facility that holds illegal immigrants, to protest ICE raids scheduled to begin Sunday in Denver and other major U.S. cities, FOX 31 Denver reported.

#5 - I read this and the other comment you refer to and it causes me to wonder ... what in your world has to happen before you get motivated to stand up for your beliefs? Acting like grownups is admirable but if all you do is 'turn the other cheek' one quickly runs out of cheeks. There is an old saying: cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me. To me that means when the left assaults my beliefs once, I learn from that. But after multiple occurances of these assaults, some consequences must be visited upon the perps or the assaults will continue. It is a bit like raising children ... the quickest way to get the good behavior you want is for the consequences of the bad behavior to be proportional and immediate. The events in this article should have resulted in the police handing out hickory shampoos and handcuffs.

When is enough going to be enough. I've seen photos of them flipping the bird to us. I've seen photos of them stomping on and burning our flag. I am sickened by the trainloads of them being dumped in our country. Last night George Noory's first guest was asked what he thinks of the inhumane treatment of the people at our borders. Of course guest then proceeded to tell why treatment is so inhumane. Why is our border people having to deal with this mess, babysitting kids that don't belong to them. $4 BILLION to make them more comfortable? Our congress needs to get off their dead arses and close the loopholes that make us have to deal with them. Turn them around and send them back where they belong. I have no sympathy.

#6, sincere apologies for not being more clear. I'll try to tie the threads together. I don't boo American Presidents because it is unbecoming behavior and disrespectful to an institution I revere. Whether a particular President is current or former, detested or admired, is immaterial to me. I stand by that belief. For exactly the same reason, I cannot stand to see the American flag being mistreated because it represents a republic that I revere. I agree emphatically that these ICE protesters should have been stopped on sight and severly punished. I spent Memorial Day walking the Katy Trail and occasionally righting small flags placed along the route that had fallen over. It was not virtue signaling, and I don't care who saw or didn't see. I can't stand to see an American flag in the dirt. Conversely, any person who desecrates the American flag in my presence places themselves in physical danger. As for standing up for my beliefs, I was a known Reagan conservative in times and places where that could cause you real problems. At one time I may have been one of only two National Review subscribers in the People's Republic of China. My problem, as anyone on this site will tell you, isn't standing up for my beliefs; it's knowing when to shut up about them. I will do so now and give someone else a chance.

Former President Bill Clinton tried to push back on reporting about trips he took with Jeffery Epstein where Secret Service were not listed on flight manifests, but failed to address why records show he took six separate trips on the "Lolita Express." Clinton's press secretary Angel Ureña said Monday that Clinton had traveled four times in total with the alleged child sex trafficker, and "Supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail, traveled on every leg of every trip.” Ureña only responded to a Washington Examiner inquiry about the trips after publication. Ureña did not reply to repeated questions about the discrepancy between the number of trips Clinton, 72,

In two essays, “Illness as Metaphor” in 1978 and “AIDS and Its Metaphors” in 1988, the critic Susan Sontag observed that you can learn a lot about a society from the metaphors it uses to describe disease. She also suggested that disease itself can serve as a metaphor—a reflection of the society through which it travels. In other words, the way certain illnesses spread reveals something not just about a nation’s physiological health but also about its cultural and political health. For instance, AIDS would not have ravaged America as fully as it did without institutionalized homophobia, which inclined many Americans to see the disease as retribution for gay sex.

He’s holding his shoulders up and back, a stage tip he got from Sean Connery. His red tie, white shirt and dark suit mirror a certain American President who has emerged as a massive Netanyahu ally. We should have seen this coming: After less than a year in office, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already has become the most tediously predictable person in politics. Ocasio-Cortez, the would-be Taylor Swift of the Democratic Party, habitually dismisses her critics and those of her “Squad” — as the four new champagne radicals in the House call themselves — as racists and sexists. Nancy Pelosi, the leader of her party in the House, is only the latest target of this strategy. Pelosi, she says, habitually singles out “newly elected women of color” such as herself for criticism. It is, AOC says, part of a pattern. Which is, ironically, part of a pattern.

In Europe, you will often hear politically savvy people refer to Green Party politicians as "watermelons." The reason is that although they might be environmentalist "green" on the outside, these leftists are secretly communist red if you look beneath the surface. They typically resort to such subterfuge because environmentalism is more popular than Marxism. A former East German communist is bound to be unpopular, but perhaps not so much if he rehabilitates himself as a renewable energy enthusiast. The case of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, is different in that she openly advertised herself as a socialist in a country with a well-grounded historical aversion to such alien ideologies.

It is useful to start with a not-so-hypothetical possibility. Suppose that next April 1, the official counting day for the 2020 census, a caravan of 10,000 citizens of Honduras storms across the U.S. border into Texas. Their leaders proceed to proclaim intent to remain as permanent residents. According to the Census Bureau’s Residence Rule, they can immediately fill out census forms and be included in the population of Texas for purposes of determining the state’s number of House seats and Electoral College votes. Similarly, the 1 million people subject to final deportation orders who remain in this country must be counted. The bureau’s current test is whether someone resides here, regardless

After singer Billy Joel dedicated a song to the former first couple and flashed them up on the screen at Madison Square Garden, initial cheers turned to boos from the audience. The former first lady has been under scrutiny for years as she criticized President Trump and attempted to lay out the reasons she thought were behind her loss to him in the 2016 election. Former President Bill Clinton, on the other hand, faced fresh criticism surrounding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, who on Monday was indicted on sex trafficking charges.

Trying to actually deport illegal immigrants whom courts have ordered deported is now considered authoritarian. Ken Cuccinelli, a top official at the Department of Homeland Security, made clear that he intended to follow through on President Trump’s plans to remove foreigners in the United States illegally for whom final removal orders have been issued. Cuccinelli said this on national TV on Sunday, and told reporters Wednesday that these operations “absolutely” were going forward. The reader needs to understand the modesty of this undertaking. Nobody is talking about deporting all 10 million illegal immigrants. Cuccinelli isn’t even talking about deporting every illegal immigrant who has been ordered deported by a judge. Cuccinelli

While stories about young girls swarming Epstein’s waterfront mansion and the sex parties he hosted for the rich and powerful were the talk of the town, Kass was more focused on how this obscure person, rumored to be managing billions of dollars, had become so wealthy without much of a track record.
