Desperate to get rid of homeless people,
some are using prickly plants, fences, barriers

With dirt, they can weigh hundreds of pounds. The makeshift planter boxes are Peter Mozgo’s creations — roughly 140 of them lined up on the sidewalk to prevent homeless people from pitching tents outside his business. Mozgo acquires the boxes from a Bell Gardens company that imports ginger, paints them firetruck red, pays $120 per cubic yard for dirt and then uses a $900 trailer to haul it all back to his neighborhood on the south end of downtown Los Angeles. Like many L.A. residents and business owners, the 49-year-old says he is frustrated by the growing homelessness crisis — and the city’s often uneven response to it.

Air horns. Blast them repeatedly until they clear the area. Work in groups. Tell them that it's all about freedom, man, and that air horns are your lifestyle choice. Be prepared to defend yourselves if the freaks attack.

Based on the photos the large red planters aren't doing the trick. Also based on the photos I'd say that not everyone lounging on the planters is poverty stricken, at least two people appear to be using smart-phones.

Perhaps the LA City Council would do better to have city agencies focus their energies on eliminating homelessness. That would eliminate the need for flower boxes and mesh fencing. But what do I know...

FTA: ''L.A. has struggled to stymie the growing number of obstructions that residents and business owners are creating to target homeless people.'' Isn't that something? The politicians in that crazy state are more concerned about the comfort of the bums than the taxpaying citizens and business owners! It's just beyond me why those same citizens don't revolt against their true enemies...the damnable crazy politicians. Baffling.

Forgive second post. NOTE the people waiting for the Catholic food bank/homeless shelter to open up, half are playing on their cell phones. Apparently they have money for THAT but not food for their 7 kids. /sigh I'm sorry for being hard hearted but I despise these free soup kitchen churches run. In our city the one near us is a homeless magnet and thus a panhandling, drug, and crime magnet. You can't walk on the sidewalk anywhere near that church. The church should have to pay for the extra police security and man hours needed to keep the residents and the nearby school safe since it's their "charity" that is causing this problem.

#8 that happened here too. The place was right next to the local library and things got really, really bad. Finally, they had to quit. Homeless people were drunk, drugged, disorderly and fighting and scaring library patrons off.

#8 - You are not being hard hearted but realistic. We have a food bank in my small town and trust me and my husband volunteers there. Trust me - the people driving up in cars for the free (good quality) food are nowhere near starvation. If anything, they could lose some weight. There is no longer any shame in looking for and accepting freebies. In this economy, unless you are drugged out of your mind, you can find a job. These religious charities really are encouraging this bad behavior. And more than anything else, I hate when I go to a Safeway or Panera and I can't even place my order without being asked to donate to the local food bank. Well, I stop going to these businesses for that reason.

Years ago, a store in downtown Salt Lake City had a problem with rough-looking gangs hanging out near their entrance. They weren't camping overnight, but they were a definite turnoff to shoppers. So the store began piping beautiful classical music outside. It worked. The gangs migrated someplace else. Maybe that would work in Los Angeles. If it didn't get rid of all the homeless, at least the remaining ones might have some taste.

The homeless get their smart phones for free, courtesy of GW Bush, the "compassionate conservative." His friend Carlos Slim fattened his wallet on that one.

I suppose I should be thrilled that the U.S. Women's soccer team won its second world title but I confess to rooting for all their opponents during the games. I don't particularly care for soccer anyway but it was the purple-haired star player Megan Rapinoe who turned me off by spouting her disdain for any White House visit before she was even asked. Did she do that for publicity or was her Trump derangement too deeply entrenched? Stomping on the American flag even accidentally during the World Cup celebration was more proof of her unworthiness to represent our great country.

Jeffrey Epstein carefully cultivated a circle of prestigious and powerful friends by exploiting the aura of money and mystery that surrounded him — but the hint of a dark side was always there. Now, in the wake of his blockbuster arrest on child sex trafficking charges, some of those high-flying former pals may be quaking in their boots. During a news conference Monday announcing Epstein’s indictment, Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman dramatically pointed to the suspect’s mug shot on a poster, and the FBI’s New York chief, William Sweeney Jr., urged anyone who has been “victimized” or “has additional information” on the multimillionaire financier to immediately call the feds.

The feds have “devastating evidence” against Jeffrey Epstein that includes notes and messages seized from his Manhattan townhouse that corroborate the claims of women who allege he sexually abused them there when they were underage, according to court papers filed Monday. The raid on the convicted pedophile’s Upper East Side home also turned up hundreds if not thousands of photos of “nude and partially nude young women or girls,” including one whose lawyer says she was underage at the time. “The defendant, a registered sex offender, is not reformed, he is not chastened, he is not repentant; rather he is a continuing danger to the community and an individual who

This article will highlight a key consideration as to each group along with strategies to make sure these facts reach the people whose interests are most directly affected.

The overcrowding, the lack of basic supplies, no soap, no toothbrushes, etc. the outrage is deafening from the Left and their media allies. It’s very entertaining. That means that we have achieved our important goals and that we are, at least somewhat, in control of our own lives. A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage,
