Britain’s ambassador to the United States resigned Wednesday, just days after diplomatic cables criticizing President Donald Trump caused embarrassment to two countries that often celebrate having a “special relationship.”
The resignation of Kim Darroch came a day after Trump lashed out at him on Twitter describing him as “wacky” and a “pompous fool” after leaked documents revealed the envoy’s dim view of Trump’s administration.
“I am grateful to all those in the UK and the US, who have offered their support during this difficult few days,”

The reaction of the left on this is absolutely hysterical. They have no rational argument in support of this snobbish elitist "diplomat". Leaked or not, the words of the goofball can not be unsaid and to speak that way about a sitting U.S. President, or any leader of a foreign nation is simply letting your personal biases interfere with your ability to do the job of representing your nation's best interests. Personal criticism is not the truth. Facts are. The silly ambassador seems to have lost his ability to decide which is which. He is well-advised to resign immediately - as he did. Goodbye- He will not be missed much by either side, I suspect.

Good riddance. Of course, now he can appear on any lefty cable show as an 'expert' and continue to spew his venom without any repercussions.

#3 is on it. Blast from the past: PFC Manning's document dump to Assange contained a significant amount of diplomatic cables. Newsflash - diplomats in the DoS/foreign ministries have a bad habit of referring to their counterparts in similar terms used by the former Brit ambassador. Nicknames in the finest tradition of junior high ribbing are also used routinely. We shouldn't expect this petty, unprofessional protocol in the diplomatic corps, but there it is. At least we've had a reminder of who these "diplomats" really are.

Trump said he was not going to have anything further to do with him, effectively firing Darroch, who proved himself not much of a diplomat. Great Britain is no longer great. I hope they get a prime minister that will make them great again.

The next Prime Minister needs to have MBGA as his theme - even though it isn't as melodious
as MAGA.

Once the communications were leaked, his ability to serve as diplomat was compromised. Diplomacy means finding a way to get along. Frankly, if he felt that way about Trump, he probably should have resigned the position. Or at least not put his feelings in writing.

What is telling to me is that, though he had the freedom to say what he pleased in private to a close associate, it is foolish beyond words that he made a record of it. That is the crux of the matter to me. The consequences of lack of discretion is a hard lesson that is best learned early. He may be a jolly chap to his buddies and to the Obama ilk, but he is not fit for diplomatic service.

Ambassadors are not fan club presidents. They give their views and opinions to their government as its representative in foreign lands. Had these not been leaked and Sir Kim given to laudatory speeches we'd be hearing what a friend to America he indeed is. Had he been criticizing Obama dittos. So, he has an opinion that may be flat wrong. It was exposed...which is another interesting point, as #4 mentioned. Sir Kim became a British liability and one could easily see his hasty retreat to London coming. The next ambassador may be just as critical in opinion, and you're likely never going to know.

The incompetent UK Prime Minister Theresa May did not need diplomatic cables from Sir Kim in Washington, DC to read all the anti-Trump propaganda being put out by the leftist and liberal Democrat “resistance” cabal that has been in the liberal media everyday since President Trump was elected. All May had to do is pick up a copy of the very anti-Trump UK Daily Mail scandal sheet that poses as a newspaper to read the vast majority of the opinionated and politicized information send by to her by Sir Kim. Clearly May had to know that Sir Kim, who is clearly politically aligned with the US leftist and liberal Democrats, and the EU, is incompatible with Trump and his unapologetic “America First” political agenda that foreign governments and their operatives do not like one bit.
So instead of ordering Sir Kim to knock off all his opinionated and politicized anti-Trump reporting that risked causing a major diplomatic breach with the USA once Sir Kim’s politicized anti-Trump fairy tails were discovered, the two-timing May instead decided to leave Sir Kim in place, to continue his anti-Trump line even when Trump was accepting Queen Elizabeth’s invitation to take part in a State Visit to the U.K. in conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings.
So May has really no one to blame for herself for the serious diplomatic rift with the USA that occurred after Sir Kim’s politicized anti-Trump, and apparently highly classified, diplomatic cables were leaked to the media. But May and others are now insinuating that it was the Russians who leaked that material to sour U.K.-US relations.
Once Trump announced that he would no longer deal with Sir Kim, Trump essentially proclaimed that Sir Kim is now informally persona non grata as the U.K. Ambassador, causing the U.K. May Government to remove Sir Kim from his position, abet by allowing Sir Kim to announce that he resigned.
