Uh, he dangled a 1 1/2 year old kid over a 150 drop? At what point is this just murder?

At least Michael Jackson didn't drop his child.

I hope he gets 30 to Life, if not the Chair! And I hope he feels badly about it to boot! You can bet he is one of those grampa's that toss infants into the air and catch them. Catching them is the trick, Stupido!

Grandpa apparently had way too much to drink beforehand. Game time with grampy must be a real thrill if you live to tell about it. Poor thing. God must have needed another Angel in heaven. So now that she there, maybe gramps can get a free ride to HELL.

FTA, Elmer Román was probably not authorized to speak, but he did:
Elmer Román, of the local Department of Public Security, said: "Police have now launched an investigation and are trawling CCTV of the ship.
"At this time (the Division of) Homicide is in place. It has not been possible to interview the family.
"It is a very strong scene, very sad and tragic.
"At one point, one of her grandparents... in an act of games, exposes the girl to the void and falls out of his hands.”
Other reports seem to have missed the part of grandpa...

The original Sun story is here as published in the UK before Fox News took the clippers to it. With quite a few photos of the ship, the location and the family - Mum, baby and Granddad… Very, very sad.

This little girls dad is a policeman in his home town, Granger IN I believe. Obviously I don’t know the family dynamic but I don’t think this will end well for Grandpa.

There are no words to describe just how stupid grandpa is. Here's hoping he doesn't live much longer and that what days he has left, are haunted by the vision of his granddaughter plunging to her death.

Upon reflection, grandpa should do the honorable thing and jump off the balcony of his cabin too.

Its stories like this that make me gasp at the sheer stupidity and lack of appreciation for the preciousness of life that some people demonstrate in the name of "having fun". How about the young heavily intoxicated couple that fell to their deaths while taking a selfie of themselves on a cliff in Yosemite. In San Diego we have several fatalities and serious injuries from people trying to get a selfie standing at the edge of Sunset Cliffs overhanging the Pacific. Not only do they frequently kill themselves but the put the fire department rescue guys at risk trying to recover their bodies or hoisting their fractured bodies into a helicopter for a trip to the ER. Its the feeling I get when I see daredevils like the Wallenda wackjobs walk a tightrope over Niagra Falls or some such pointlessly risky stunt. The only people more perverse than the Wallendas are the millions of ghoulish voyeurs who tune in on TV with the hope of seeing another tragedy. There are many brave souls who take enormous risks with their lives for meaningful benefits like people who volunteer for cancer drug trials or first responders like the divers that saved the Thai cave kids. But risking precious life for ego or "fun" or status is the most tragic thing I can think of.

He dangled his grandchild, I think it goes a little farther than just manslaughter. He might not have had intent, but he did drop her. This is more than just a little oopsie. This is a dead and precious little tot. My condolences to her parents. By the time you get to a grandpa age, you should know better than to be stupid like this.

We left my toddler son with my parents one night, we returned and found him wandering the house—while my mom was asleep in a chair and my dad upstairs playing on his computer. We were not amused. Luckily he was not an adventurous kid. Last time we left him there alone. Both of my parents were educated (mom was an RN), decent folks. But stuff happens, I guess. Makes me remember my teen babysitting days and I’m grateful nothing bad ever happened! I feel horrible fo this family. How do you go on? I don’t think I could live with the guilt.

Not sure what to think about this. One of my earliest memories is of the old German woman my parents hired as a babysitter doing the same thing to us over the apartment balcony. I still remember the terror. Maybe at one time that was considered fun and cute. I dont know.

If I did that to my grandchild even accidentally I would not survive it. I would literally commit suicide.

Ban gramps from contact with any other grandkids and from all family functions until he dies a miserable lonely death.
