On the same day that the Declaration of Independence became official, a telling event further reveals that our founders understood well the “ancient principles” upon which our republic must be built. On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress appointed a committee -- consisting of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams -- to design an official seal for the United States. Adams proposed an image of Hercules contemplating the persuasions of Virtue and Sloth.Franklin proposed a biblical theme: Moses standing on the Shore, and extending his Hand over the Sea, thereby causing the same to overwhelm Pharaoh who is sitting in an open Chariot,

We are the Greatest and Most Free nation the world has ever known and I hope we are smart enough to remain that way. There is a reason that the masses of the world want to come here rather than anywhere else. Happy 4th of July to all.

Great history lesson! No wonder the left is so anti-Semitic. We owe more of our freedom to the wisdom of the Old Testament Jews than I ever imagined.

FTA: “John Quincy Adams saw that Christmas and Independence Day were fundamentally linked. He understood well that the Founders took the principles that Christ brought to the world and incorporated them into civil government. This is what makes the U.S. government so distinctive, why it has been so durable, and why, to this day, we are the greatest nation the world has ever known.”
This is the reason that communists have worked so hard to destroy this country. They understand its founding and why it has become the beacon of freedom in this world. Our founding goes against everything they believe. The fact that it was based upon a belief and respect of God threatens them because that acknowledges the authority of God over man which is anathema to them. There, no doubt, has always been a faction in this country who denied God but after WWII, they have worked in earnest to undermine everything that is good in this country to the point we now face open rebellion to our founding principles by democrat leaders vying for President. They have made incredible strides in the past ten years, however, there is a majority of Americans who want nothing to do with the radical dems and their anti-American policies.
Pray diligently for the President and the country. We have a daunting task ahead of us to uproot these radicals and send them into obscurity in November 2020. While we are a forward looking country, we must never forget to look into the past and cling to the founding principles that have been our foundation. The God that blessed this nation at its inception, is the same God that can defeat the forces that are determined to destroy it. It may be that the threat of losing our way has rekindled our determination to protect and defend this nation against the malignant enemy within. God help us and bless the United States of America!
Happy 4th of July, Patriots!

The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution are the greatest documents ever written, very clear and concise. The principles contained therein are as immutable as the laws of physics.

Excellent piece by Thomas. Just think where America would be had it not gotten infected with European progressivism a hundred years ago. Thanks to Woodrow Wilson and his progressive leanings.

It has been said over and again that the American Republic is the greatest experiment in history. It took many years of rolling that statement around in my head before one day, I finally understood what it meant as a result of reading about and watching documentaries on ancient civilizations and cultures. Never before have a people come together to form a union of states with human liberty and freedom from government oppression as the tenants of their pact. Freedom and Liberty... two words one almost NEVER hear coming from the mouth of ANY Democrat! Those words are like garlic to a vampire. Instead, the leftist liberal politician soothingly speaks the words, "healthcare, free education, a woman's right, fill-in-the-blank reform, etc."
Next time you're near a liberal, pretend you're on your phone and proudly say those two words as you speak, "Freedom! Liberty!" Watch the leftist melt, like the Wicked Witch of the North in a wet t-shirt contest.

I have a newspaper created by Thomas Jefferson and printed in Philadelphia on January 13, 1792. It hangs framed in living room. On one side is the latest news about the French Revolution, and on the other, is the business of the U.S. government and news from the states. The government business has items such as sending troops to the Ohio territory, and repaying families for the use of horses and wagons in the Revolutionary War. News of the states includes a story about an Indian attack in Albany NY. An attack that killed men, women, and children with many victims decapitated. I look at that paper almost everyday, and I'm amazed how far this country has come from that time, and what it must have been like to live back then. I also wonder what Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Monroe and Franklin would think about our country today. In one sense I think they would be proud, in another, I think they would be greatly disappointed.

No wonder the left despises Israel. It hates Israel because it loathes the United States. Not exactly a winning combination.

Christianity revealed that there is a spark of the Devine in each of us. Transformed through the lens of the Enlightment, that came to fruition as the founding Principles of America.
The Rights of the 'Sovereign' Individual come from God and they are enshrined in our Constitution.
Things like 'innocent until proven guilty.' What a mind blowing concept. No other country or civilization ever lived by that principle.
