The Washington Post ran a story challenging Americans' use of fireworks to celebrate Independence Day just days before the national holiday. The Monday piece, headlined "Fireworks are America's favorite face exploding, dog torturing, bird murdering way to celebrate its birthday," is part of a series questioning "the supposed joys of summer."The article begins cheerfully describing the centuries-old American tradition before quickly pivoting to why fireworks are obnoxious, dangerous, and mean:

Of course the WaPo hates fireworks. They were promoted by John Adams, one of those old white founding fathers. He wrote about Independence on the day it was actually first voted on (July 2, it was formally adopted on the 4th) “I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival…It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.” The hate for America from the WaPo and other media outlets is palpable.

If your dog is freaked out, get a new dog.
All of this scaredy dog stuff is a new phenomenon from hysterical "dog moms" about their "fur babies."

Fireworks, flags, military and patriots are to the Wapo what kryptonite is to Superman.

Strike up the bands with patriotic melodies and sing those beloved words of praise to God for His blessings! Thank the military which preserves our liberty from tyrants who are always plotting to steal it away from us! How do they know the fireworks were made in China? One of the biggest fireworks company is in New Jersey. Today's liberals would make the most austere Puritan look like a fun loving barrel of laughs in comparison.

It must be tough on Democrats not having a country of their own they want to celebrate. They can always use tomorrow to send best wishes to the regimes in Cuba and Venezuela that they admire so much.

Actually the WaPoop is kind of terrible...and the face exploding, dog torturing, bird murdering is only due to stupid people being allowed access to the product...like automobiles, ski-dos and guns....

What a bunch of party-poopers. Wet blankets. Balloon poppers. I can’t wait to see what Trump has planned. There was a family that specializes in fireworks. I want to say “Grucci”. They did the show in 1986 in NYC. I was there and it was spectacular.

No, it's the American flag the Wash Post has the problem with. I don't care what they think, it's a great holiday for us all.

In 1983 at the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge I got a ride on the tug boat that was towing the fireworks barge in the East River. The shells were fired, reflected off the glass of the buildings on both sides of the river and reverberated in that canyon. My shirt was burned, there were clinkers in my hair, and my ears rang for the rest of the night. It was great!

Bezos would rather see North Korea set off some muilti-megaton "fireworks". Those he would love. Or if #Antifa set off a few pressure cooker bombs. He'd love those too.
