A new bill would calculate potential costs of reparations — and by Yahoo Finance estimates, these could reach as high as $17.1 trillion. Last week, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties held the first hearing in a decade on H.R. 40, the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act. The bill was first introduced in 1989 by former Congressman John Conyers (D-MI). Conyers reintroduced the bill each year until his retirement in 2017 — and each year, the bill languished in Congress. The bill’s focus was not to pass reparations, but
Add that to the trillions already spent on welfare, and that's a tidy sum...

So? We’ll just tax Wall Street. Or, the billionaires. Or, or, or more precisely us, which means all of us who have income over $50,000 per year. And even that won’t be enough. We’ll have to slash defense spending, reduce Social Security payments while drastically raising the withholding amount, slash the already meager Medicare reimbursements to doctors and hospitals. End deferred taxation on IRA/401(k) accounts. Sell national parks. And more. The alleged heirs of slaves freed in 1865 won’t care as long as they get their money for nothin.
Possible source of $17 billion could be a 90% tax on all reparations since these monies would not be earned income. Or, what Uncle Sap gives away, Uncle Sam takes back.

It has been acknowledged that the Democrat Party owe the reparations. Soros, Buffett, Gates -- all say they should pay more taxes, so pay up guys. Hollywood can pay up. Where are the Clooney's? They can sell the yacht in France. John Kerry has the ketchup fortune. Send it in, John.

It will be far cheaper to just ship them back to Africa which will solve many of our crime and social issues.

Trust me....... 17 trillion wont be enough. Many will demand more. That works out to about a quarter million for every man woman and child of African descent.

Unless you can present me a slave that I personally kept, I'm not paying a dime.
Democrats, historically kept slave, abused and mistreated their descendants while Republicans tried to help them. Let the Democrats pay the price.

The Democrats have no intention of actually paying reparations to anybody. They are dangling this in front of blacks to keep them on the plantation. They have been trained that offering free stuff gets votes. Usually they are right.

The left is still beating a dead horse over reparations. It's not going to happen. The American people would not stand for it. That includes blacks who are not ''victims.''

They tell ya what the" problem" is, , provide a " solution" to the" problem", and have absolutely no intention of ever fixing said problem. It's all about money ( for them) and dependency on govt for you Remember Keep in mind Lyndon Johnsons " War on Poverty"

I want a piece of the action. My ancestors in France, the Gauls, were enslaved by Julius Caesar and his Roman thugs. I want free pizza, etc. forever. The Gaul in me demands it.

They know it will never happen, but they keep bringing it to Congress. As with nearly every issue, it is blatant pandering.

What about the unborn babies yet to come? Would they, too, be 'compensated"?
Ridiculous!! The entire idea is insane.

Not sure what the point is in even commenting on this 'silly' issue. Who would pay for it, not the dependents of the slave owners, but the middle class of whom 80 percent are decedent of those who came to America 30 years AFTER the Civil War through Ellis Island. Mind you I have 3 Great Grand Dads that owned people, but as far as I am concerned that is between them and God. And thousands gave their lives to free the slaves. That alone should be enough.

So, let's put it to a vote right now. $17 trillion for "rape-a-nations". All in favor say Aye. Put it on record.

If the American people continue to stand by without rigorous displays of very uncivil acts of disobedience and unambiguous hints of the ultimate escalation, as has been the People's coup response to date, then we deserve to be taxed into oblivion and the effective loss of our country.

Is that why all the people from Afrikkkka are trying to get illegally into this country???
I suggest that the dumber than dumb snowflakes pay for the reparations. Conyers, does he know what a trillion is??? I didn't think so! Wasn't this illiterate POS tossed out of office because of his attacks on women??? Hmmm, can they sue for reparations as well??? You know, time lost at work with intimidation and threats, etc...! Just wondering!

If the demonrats ever managed to pass this into law, I imagine that the response from most Americans would be the same response the left would receive if they tried to confiscate 400 million legally owned guns.

And the millions of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border will help us pay for the reparations. Now I know the game plan of the Democrat Party.

It's not slave reparations. All of those slaves are dead. It' paying for votes by pandering to blacks that don't have enough self respect to go out and work hard for a living like everyone else.

Where will the money come from? That fool's paradise, CNBC, has a picture of Soros with the headline "Billionaires to Candidates: Please tax us". Worthy of the Babylon Bee. Is it illegal for anyone to write a check of any size to the US Treasury? I thought not. Dur-hur-hur.....
