Bank of America will no longer do business

Bank of America will end its association with companies that provide prisoner and immigrant detention services at both the state and federal levels. The move comes amid growing public concern about the nation’s border policies. A spokesperson said Wednesday that Bank of America has discussed the issue with its clients that provide those services. While the bank appreciates “steps they have taken to properly execute their contractual and humanitarian responsibilities,” it ultimately decided to “exit the relationships.” “Lacking further legal and policy clarity, and in recognition of the concerns of our employees and stakeholders in the communities we serve, it is our intention to exit these relationships,” the spokesperson said.

Wonder if they felt this type of angst when the facilities were being installed under the Obama administration. Or, are the people from the Obama administration pressuring BofA into this type of action? #4, seems odd to me, since I still get mail from B of A, for the previous resident of our home, and we've lived there for over 10 years now. And, I've even taken it to a local B of A branch years ago too.

I suggest that the buses of illegals be deposited in the lobby of the nearest Bank of America. Let them deal with it. It's obvious they are morally superior.

I'm glad B of A isn't a baker. Then they'd have to bake the cake regardless of how they feel. And we can blame Emperor Obama for this one. He and his minons made the banking regulations so onerous that most of the independent community banks have had to sell out to larger operations because regulatory compliance (and fines) grew to such a point you had to sell.

In addition to their constant lefty virtue signalling they are probably the worst bank in the country as far as customer service and they are also a bunch of crooks. They had to pay almost 17 billion in fines to the US Justice Department for abusing customers. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/bank-america-pay-1665-billion-historic-justice-department-settlement-financial-fraud-leading

I quit BofA in the 60's because of their arrogance. I sent money home to Mom from Vietnam like a lot of troops did to put in an account for me upon my return. The bank would not let her open the account because they mandated I come in personally to sign the papers. Have not even considered them for anthing financial since. Stupid is as stupid does.

A British judge ordered Friday that an abortion be performed on a mentally disabled woman who is 22 weeks pregnant, despite objections from the woman and her mother. Justice Nathalie Lieven admits in the ruling of the “heartbreaking” case that it’s an “immense intrusion” to order the abortion against the woman’s will, but argued that it’s in the best interest of the woman.“I am acutely conscious of the fact that for the State to order a woman to have a termination where it appears that she doesn't want it is an immense intrusion,” the justice said. “I have to operate in [her] best interests, not on society's views of termination."

The Illinois Senate has approved a sweeping abortion rights bill. The 34 – 20 vote comes amid a time when several other states have passed laws essentially banning the practice. The bill establishes a woman’s “fundamental right” to an abortion… and states that “a fertilized egg, embryo or fetus does not have independent rights.” It also repeals the Illinois abortion law of 1975, eliminating spousal consent, waiting periods, criminal penalties for abortion providers and restrictions on abortion facilities. The bill now heads to Governor Pritzker. He campaigned on a promise to make Illinois the most progressive state in the country for reproductive rights.

In January 1942, 11 Naval nurses and one Filipino nurse were taken prisoner by the Japanese. They spent nearly three years as POW’s in concentration camps where they continued to nurse the sick and injured. They were never formally recognized by the U.S. government as heroes. But to the men they cared for, their service will never be forgotten. The nurses became to be known as the 12 Anchors. Their selfless service never stopped. All of the nurses received the Bronze Star and a Prisoner of War medal. WGN’s Marcella Raymond has their story.

A proposed hike in Illinois´ annual registration fee for electric vehicles, from $17.50 to $1,000, is being called unfair by current EV owners, and a sales disincentive by manufacturers - just as the new technology is beginning to gain broader traction. Aimed at raising money to make overdue road improvements across Illinois, the proposed legislation would also more than double the state´s gas tax to 44 cents a gallon, and raise

With the support of labor unions, a new bill prohibiting municipalities in the state from enacting “right-to-work laws” was signed into law by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker last week. The “Collective Bargaining Freedom Act” prohibits local right-to-work ordinances and imposes penalties for violations. Right-to-work laws became a focus for state lawmakers after the village of Lincolnshire, a northern suburb of Chicago, passed one in 2015. A federal court later overturned the ordinance. Right-to-work laws prohibit union contracts from requiring all workers to either join a union or pay dues.
