Democrats point to Nordic nations
as models of socialism.
Here’s how they actually work.

Socialism — pro or con — is the hot issue in Democratic circles as the party’s candidates for president prepare to debate this week. To the obvious objection that socialism failed catastrophically in Venezuela and the Soviet Union, Democratic democratic socialists have a ready response: Our model is the thriving nations of northern Europe. “I think that countries like Denmark and Sweden do very well,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) told an Iowa audience in April. “My policies most closely resemble what we see in the U.K., in Norway, in Finland, in Sweden,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told CBS’s “60 Minutes” in January. Undoubtedly, the Nordic nations,

Bernie Sanders and anyone who thinks like him are of an annoyance. It is no different than going to a church and board members or pastors want to look at what other churches are doing for their own platform. Why do we have to look at other countries? We have many talented individuals within the United States that can make and keep America great. Let's start with Donald Trump and re-elect him to this wonderful country. Great talent and effort follows. No, Bernie, we don't need your copycat ideas.

This is quite accurate about the Nordics, and it's true that the Dims are a weird mix of ignorance and deceit about socialism in Scandinavia. But the main point, which they all do cartwheels to avoid and the Enemedia will never ask about, is that the US Constitution specifically and intentionally makes socialism, or anything like it, well, unconstitutional.

The dems are expert in PR. They look for a popular "brand" and then try to jump on the brand coattails saying, "That's the brand we want to emulate". However, dems are also very fluid when using words and facts. They either don't go into detail, which would expose all sorts of contractions. Or they outright lie about it. Most people like apple pie. "Mrs. Smith's" is a popular brand and the name evokes positive feelings. The dems will claim that they are going to make all of us a pie like "Mrs Smith's". They want us to smile and shake our heads in the affirmative. The problem is, they are going to use oranges instead of apples. Now there IS such a thing as an orange pie but I have never had one. I don't know if I will like it. I am going to ask a lot of questions before I dive into one. "What does it taste like?" "What's in it?" How much does it cost?" "Is it hard to make?" These are the types of questions the dems don't want to answer. Either they don't know or they know the answer is not very palatable. If past history is any guide, we can be pretty certain that it won't taste very good. The one thing we CAN be sure of, it will require more government control, more money paid to government and inefficient use of that money, and will give more power to the dems. The dems however, just want you thinking "Mrs. Smith's apple pie", "Mrs. Smith's apple pie", ...

Good article. Not only are the populations homogeneous (for now) as #2 points out, but the populations are small, 6 million in Norway for example, but they also have the unmitigated gall to use their natural resources like oil for the benefit of their population. In prior administrations, we had to make an end run around government policies and create our oil boom on private lands. It's ridiculous we had to fight our own government to be prosperous.

There is a world of difference between Nordic Socialism and Socialism in Venezuela, Cuba, Russia, and China. There is a world of difference between governing 10 million people vs governing 300 million people. When people talk Socialism, what do they actually mean? When people like Sanders and AOC say they want to follow Nordic Socialism, do they really mean it? These people lie all the time. Are they accurately portraying Nordic Socialism? Also, with the influx of all those migrants, Nordic Socialism will change over time and look more like Venezuela and the others.

Basically, Sanders doesn't like the USA the way it is. It's not good enough for him. He THINKS other countries do very well. Because he thinks this, we should turn our phenomenally successful economy around to support what he thinks. After he loses the primary, he should retire to one of those countries and we never hear from BS again.

I was in Sweden 10 years ago (before their influx of Africans). There were signs in many places written in Swedish and English that said to remember there were individual costs for medical care. There were not many cars, people rode trams, walked or rode bicycles. Condos in Gotesburg were a million dollars. Prices in stores were almost double of what I paid in the US. Plus, there was a high VAT (tax) on everything. Not until the airport did I see a foreigner could apply to get the VAT returned showing all receipts but I had them in my suitcase, so lost that. We did see a number of young women with baby strollers as they received money to raise a child until toddler age when they went to daycare and the woman had to go back to work. Also only saw one homeless person but who could live there in the winter outside?

The Nordics are a nice but docile sort of people who willingly give fifty percent or more of their incomes to the ministry of redistribution so that all can survive on the work of a smaller percentage. They have allowed the imported muslims to take control of their streets and allow their women to be raped without much in the way of attempts to stop it. They gave up their firearms a long time ago. They are no longer the descendants of Vikings who would not be tolerant of those conditions of life. Bernie wants to be like them, fine. He can give away two of his three houses and about eighty percent of his income if he likes. I won't be going along with that.

I have many close friends in Denmark. None of them can afford a car, although all of them have excellent jobs. Consequently, they are very limited in where they go and what they do because they are entirely dependent on public transport or bikes. Here's how the the Danish socialists discourage the use of automobiles: A new BMW would cost ~ $75,000US... PLUS a 180% tax ON TOP OF THAT! YES! 180%! (There was some talk about reducing the tax to 100% but I'm not sure if that's happened or not) Danish citizens are constantly bombarded with anti-car rhetoric like this: "If you ride a bike in Copenhagen from Øster Allé to Nørreport during rush hour here's the societal benefit and loss: Bicycle: 63 cents net profit for society. (3.65 DKK) Car: $1.15 net loss to society. (6.59 DKK) Another way of calculating it is that every time someone rides a bike 1 km, society earns 23 cents. Drive a car 1 km and we pay out 91 cents." Feeling restricted and horrified by this? These are the dismal innards of socialism that Bernie Sanders and the like don't want you to see.

Might I suggest you pull up stakes and move there and leave the rest of us alone. I don't want to pay a 70% tax rate so the government can take total control of my life. Except for the UK (66 million) and Holland (17 million) these other countries have a population of fewer than 10 million. Most are 5 million while the US has a population of 328 million. Big, big difference. They want your money, they want to control you. Limit your ability to travel (take your cars away), take away your guns so you cannot rebel, control the food chain (Bernie says he loves government bread lines), we have enough money but it is in the wrong hands. Your money does not belong to you. Put it all in a pot and redistribute it the way they think it should be. Nothing is free and their ideas will destroy our country. And the elite will never ever be subject to any of the insanity they impose. Pay attention America.

Having recently visited Scandinavia, I will say this. I was told that the average household pays between 50 and 60 percent of their income in taxes. I was also told how much trouble 20,000 African "refugees" have created there - I suggested any USA urban center would trade them straight up 20,000 urban thugs and experience a significant crime reduction. Also, the countries' homogeneous and small populations, as well as strong national identities and traditions, play a large part in any "success" socialism has in Scandinavia.

The Democrats are following their usual playbook of publicly offering free everything to unsuspecting rubes who think some rich people somewhere are going to pay for it all. Actually getting funding for these schemes after the election is another matter. Rich people are rich for a reason. They will give plenty of lip service about being 'delighted' to pay more taxes then they will promptly take their investments elsewhere. And yes, leave the middle class holding the bag.

These countries have mixed economies. As the article says, there is less regulation/taxes on businesses than on the middle class taxpayers. And since when is Medicare free? I dread the day I have to go on Medicare. My private insurance pays for many things with no deductible and there is a stop-loss after my out-of-pocket reaches a certain limit. And I have a flex plan that makes copays and deductibles pre-tax (same as a deduction off the top). Medicare is on the brink of insolvency just paying for senior care and Bernie wants to make it free for everyone? Impossible. Just a way to lure stupid voters.

There is no comparison between the Nordic countries and the USA. The Nordic countries are very small countries with generally homogeneous populations that are mostly all employed and pay high taxes to derive their social welfare benefits. It is not like that in the USA. There is absolutely no doubt that if the Democrat socialists take power in the USA that the economy will take a big nose dive once the Democrat socialists start instituting their high tax policies. The result of that will be a huge raise in the unemployment rate. On top of that the Democrat socialists through their “open borders” policies are trying to flood the USA illegally with poor, uneducated, and socialist minded people from all over the underdeveloped and undeveloped world. The vast majority of those people are unemployable because of a lack of education and job skills in the modern developed world, other than in unskilled low wage earning jobs, whereby they and their accompanying family members will have to be subsidized through taxpayer funded social welfare services for the rest of their lives. That population group is now increasing in size by about 100,000 a month with the Democrat socialists refusing to repeal a number of loopholes that they inserted in the asylum and immigration laws that greatly encourage that unlawful migration into the USA. The Democrat socialists are doing that for two reasons, the immediate reason is to ensure that as many illegal aliens as possible who are residing in immigrant and low income communities are counted in the 2020 census to assist the Democrat socialists in reapportioning as many new congressional districts into those areas that are dominated by the Democrats as possible, making it probable that those new congressional seats will be won by Democrat socialists with relatively low vote counts, as the aliens counted as living in those new districts are not qualified to vote, thus giving the Democrat socialist voters in those districts a higher percentage of congressional representation that the old established congressional districts consisting of US citizens, that loose their congressional representation by having to merge into another congressional district. Since there are now about 22 million illegal aliens now in the USA just by their numbers alone they affect the location of probably 10 or more congressional seats. The second reason is to grant that illegal alien population amnesty and eventual US voting rights, as the Democrat socialists realize that the vast majority of illegal aliens would be natural Democrat socialist voters, thus permanently changing the voter demographics and the politics of enough of the USA to keep the Democrat socialists in permanent political power. That’s why Joseph Biden then other day proclaimed that Congress should immediately grant millions of illegal aliens US citizenship, thus making them eligible to vote in the 2020 election. You can bet your boots that if the Democrat socialists even thought that more than a small percentage of the illegal alien population would ever vote for conservatives and Republicans that there already would be a 100 foot high borderline barrier (wall) all along the borderline with mass deportations ongoing. With all that going on the establishment Republicans just want an unlimited supply of cheap foreign labor to continue to get into the USA by hook or by crook!

This article is a great reminder that the Stockholm Syndrome was appropriately named. The Scandanavian people have been living for so long like frogs in hot water that they think it's normal. It's not! Freedom loving people anywhere would rebel in a minute's time if subjected to these conditions of life. In some ways it's even worse than Communism. #14, I know Norway did not give up its firearms a long time ago. The country has a long hunting and firearms tradition, though it is controlled. One can even buy an semi-automatic military style rifle once all the paperwork is completed. The one stipulation is you must go to the range at least once a month to maintain proficiency. Heck, I'd love to say, "Sorry, honey, I've got to go to the range today; government requirement you know."

Yeah, Sweden is doing so well that Malmö is a war zone because of muslim barbarians. Or would be a war if the Swedes fought back... It used to be safe that you could walk all around alone in the middle of the night, and nothing would happen. The police didn't even carry guns, until Black deserters began to rob banks, starting in the early 1970s. Now, the muslims have claimed whole neighborhoods as their own, and begun to impose sharia laws on the rest of the population through terror and violence. If Bernie's policies most closely resemble what we see in Scandinavia, it would be a nightmare.

The Netherlands has a population of roughly 17 million people. The State of Illinois -- not the biggest state in the Union, mind you -- has a population of 12 million. However, The Netherlands has only about a quarter of the land mass of Illinois. Sweden has roughly 10 million people. My point? Administering effective government programs in relatively small countries would likely be much easier than do so in a country of 325 million people (i.e., the United States). That said, the State of Illinois -- which has been controlled by Democrats for decades -- is B R O K E -- BROKE, I tell you! More Democrat policies mean more broke states in this great land of ours. Here we are in the midst of a once-in-a-half-century pandemic, with the economy flattened, millions of people unemployed, and unrest on the streets of our cities. And President-elect Joe Biden says that one of his highest priorities as president will be to reenter the Paris climate accord. President Trump granted a pardon to Michael Flynn, his former national-security adviser, today. Flynn had pled guilty to lying to FBI agents about conversations, during the 2016 transition, with the Russian ambassador about sanctions. Flynn’s pardon should bring to an end one gross violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, even as it gives rise to groundless accusations of another. Although Flynn had pled guilty, the circumstances of the case had raised serious concerns about whether the government had proceeded properly. The FBI, for example, questioned Flynn even though it did not appear he had violated any law. In May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the case dropped.

In an open letter released Sunday, Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden urged him to “honor his commitment” and include the Hyde Amendment in Democrats’ $1.9 trillion COVID-19 spending package, writing “we feel used and betrayed.” The letter states: We are very disappointed about the COVID-19 relief package’s exclusion of the Hyde Amendment, a longstanding bipartisan policy that prevents taxpayer funding for abortion. [snip] As pro-life leaders in the evangelical community, we publicly supported President Biden’s candidacy with the understanding that there would be engagement [with] us on the issue of abortion and particularly the Hyde Amendment

If you had any doubts that Meghan Markle is a manipulative piece of work, her bombshell Oprah interview Sunday night dumping on the British monarchy would set you straight. Prince Harry’s American wife accused his family of hateful racism against her baby, claimed they refused to protect her and drove her to the point of suicide. She made the incendiary and implausible charge that when she was pregnant with Archie, the royal family decreed that her unborn son would be denied the title of “prince” because her mixed race meant he might have dark skin.

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. Noncitizens are obligated to identify themselves and opt out,

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.

Rep. Steve Cohen vowed to renew the push to remove former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover’s name from the bureau’s downtown Washington headquarters, according to an interview released Monday. Appearing on Yahoo! News’ Skullduggery podcast, the Tennessee Democrat said the effort is getting a fresh look after the release of a new movie highlighting the FBI’s secret program to discredit civil rights activists. The Washington Times in 2019 first reported Democrats’ bid to strip the longtime FBI director’s name from the bureau’s headquarters. Mr. Cohen said the impetus to revive the bid is the new movie, “Judas and the Black Messiah.” The movie details

“There must have been a moment, at the beginning, when we could have said –-no. But somehow we missed it.” Tom Stoppard The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast. His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man. Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.
