The Alinea Group, owners of the high-end Chicago cocktail lounge where President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, was spat on by an employee, has been put on leave.
Trump confirmed to Breitbart News that the U.S. Secret Service took an employee of The Aviary into custody following the incident. In a telephone interview with Washington editor Matthew Boyle, Trump said the ordeal was “purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems.”“For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility,” the president’s son continued.

Eric should file assault charges. What a lowlife P.O.S. Put on leave? Let me guess...paid leave right?
They will probably give him a bonus and a pay raise and promotion from dishwasher to busboy.
His emotional problem is called Severe Trump Derangement Syndrome. It's not treatable or curable.

What the yet unidentified “spitter” did, apparently witnessed by law enforcement officers, was not just an act of civil disobedience as stated by her employer, but constituted a criminal assault upon the person of Eric Trump. In that case, if the Chicago Police wanted to, since they witnessed the assault, they could have referred her for prosecution even though Trump did not want to lodge criminal charges against her. You can bet that if she had spit on a Chicago Police Officer that she would have gone to jail charged with assaulting a police officer.
Beyond that who would go back to a drinking or eating establishment where employees can spit on customers and then get to keep their jobs, for political reasons or whatever?

The Alinea Group owns The Aviary as well as a Michelin three-star restaurant called Alinea, which offers meals that range from about $300 to $500. I wonder what the folks at Michelin will think of an Alinea Group employee spitting on a guest (i.e., a repulsive assault) and being put on leave. I wonder how many stars Alinea will lose over this? Michelin takes their brand very, very seriously, and the Alinea group should be terrified about their brand. Alinea Chef Grant Achatz deserves better -- he´s worked his tail off to earn those stars, all the while fighting and surviving a hideous cancer diagnosis. Then some ditzy bonehead spits on the president´s son in a bar owned by The Alinea Group.
Yuck! I´ve wanted to give Alinea a try, and now I´ll just give it a pass. I´ll try Grace instead. It´s said to be extraordinary.

Should have been fired on the spot. This is not acceptable behavior by anyone.

Hope she doesn’t have AIDS. She has probably spit in the food of others she didn’t agree with. A prime example of the ‘tolerant ‘ left.

If this is what her first inclination was, I would hate to think of what she would do to anyone's food. The fact that the restaurant did not fire her immediately sends a very bad message and I would say anyone who eats at this place needs their head examined. Clearly the employees and management think that this is possibly acceptable behavior under some imagined circumstance.

Merely placed on leave?? On LEAVE!! I am tempted to say, well, that's Chicago. But when I lived in Twin Cities and spent many weekends in Chicago, I thought that place was sophistication personified. Maybe 50 years ago, it was.

The owners may just be taking a moment to make sure a firing will stick. i.e. they have all the evidence needed and won't get sued.
Will Lisa Bloom show up as the employee's lawyer? Avenatti may be too busy.

When something like this is done, you can bet that the climate at the establishment is such that the employee feels supported in her action. She must have been surprised when she was jerked up by the Secret Service. Eric Trump should file assault charges. This kind of thing must not be tolerated. I hope they look into her background and find every bit of dirt there. And I want to know her name, right now. And, along with others here, I'll wager that she and others do some adulteration of the food also.
