A group of 9/11 first responders praised Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell after meeting with him to discuss the bill that would permanently fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund."Mitch McConnell works for us ... and today Mitch McConnell promised to work for us and I'm going to take him for his word," first responder John Feal told reporters after the meeting, saying he is not concerned about McConnell going back on his word because "we challenged his humanity, and he passed."Feal said his past meetings in 2010 and 2015 with McConnell were more contentious and emotional than the one on Tuesday.

Yep ,
There are two things he's good at. Spending money or doing nothing.

Mitch was on Fox a week ago assuring EVERYONE that the 9-11 Fund would be funded. Apparently, these guys didn't catch the show. A whole bunch of hysteria over nothing. This is another pseudo-news event totally manufactured to make Mitch look like a bumbling heartless fool. Which he mostly is, but that's beside the point.

How much is enough? Billions have already been paid out. The word "victim" is not exclusive to 9/11. Where do other victims go for their government money? Don't they deserve a few bucks worth of "humanity", too?

Send the bill to Saudi Arabia, after all the hijackers all came from their country. Let’s see how quick Mitch works on the wall.

I have VERY mixed feelings about this. Sure they deserve some consideration but we are way past that point, and I think this has devolved into greed.

Didn't they volunteer for those jobs, no matter what?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but these funds are under a 5 year renewal. That means that the prior administration had 2 renewals and, most likely, the opportunity to extend the periodicity. This tempest in a teapot (laid at the feet of the present administration) would have been another 5 year renewal, with a pretty logical decrement in funding because of the deceased recipients.
Where was Jon Stewart the last time the renewal was supposed to happen?

So when do the people that voluntarily put their lives on the line for this country, get a real compensation fund. The widows and children of serviced members killed in action get a pittance, and we as a country should be ashamed of ourselves for that.

Unfortunately, there have been 450 or so cases of fraud associated with police and fire exposures around 9/11/01. If there is a permanent extension of the fund into infinity, there will be fraud going into the 22nd century.
And the lawyers will have a steady stream of income.

We are talking about a tragedy that is almost 18 years old. Other tragedies have happened since then. This is starting to feel like entitlement. What is this money being spent on? We have the right to know.

How about staging a press conference on the steps of the George H. W. Bush Library in Houston...? That guy Feal was a crock and an experienced agitator...'first responder' to the microphone!!

Whatcha wanna bet this "fund" is nothing more than another Demonrat money laundering enterprise to funnel legitimate Federal funds back into the DNC coffers? Include it in the money that goes to Planned Parenthood, and all the other far left organizations.

Glad The Turtle renewed the contract, and continues to do so. If a congress critter dies in office, the spouse gets his/her salary. If a volunteer responder dies, his/her family gets squat by comparison. Bravo Zulu #8.
