In Squamish, British Columbia, there’s a company that wants to stop climate change by sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
It’s called Carbon Engineering, and it uses a combination of giant fans and complex chemical processes to remove carbon dioxide from the air in a procedure known as Direct Air Capture. (snip) The company is backed by Bill Gates — but also by the oil giants Chevron, BHP, and Occidental. These partnerships will bring Carbon Engineering’s tech to market by using the captured carbon to make synthetic fuels and and help extract more oil from the ground.

God already created a process that actually converts CO2 to oxygen. No machinery is involved. It’s called photosynthesis and it is what happens when living plants are alive and growing.
Cut with the scams ok this is getting boring and ridiculous.

Why is Bill Gates trying to starve trees?

I think thaty should all get teaspoons and bail out the oceans, it would be much more effective.
How can ostensibly intelligent people be so pathetically, terminally stupid?

Gates had one strong idea...the computer operating system. And he stole that.
Intensity and energy are not enough to result in the good.

Sounds like a fraud. Giant fans to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere? Tiny leprechauns to suck gold out sea water? Monica lewinsky. Never mind.

We are presently suffering a C02 shortage. The CO2 level in our atmosphere is presently at comparative famine level: at just above 400 ppm, if CO2 were a snack cracker ingredient, it would be way, way too little to be listed on the box.
Back when CO2 was fourfold what it is now, a much-closer-to-optimum 1600 ppm, that's when earth has ferns 15 meters tall, and the humans' habitat --- or so I'm told--- was called Eden. Paradise.
It is God's providence that we are now able to bring more of that Carbon wealth in the form of fuel gas, petroleum, and coal, out of its burial sites and liberate it back into the atmosphere, where it can nourish plant life and make Earth green again.
Give us more CO2! Why settle for anything less than optimal? Let Mother Earth breathe!

That's riht folks - Democrats want to kill trees, now. Their solution to Climate Change is an endless, unchanging, sanitized DESERT.
Save the World! Get rid of radical Democrats and their Socialist allies who seek to destroy humanity to 'save' the Earth!

As a percentage, there is far more Argon in the atmosphere than CO2. These guys are nuts.

I am surprised the tree huggers are not up in arms about this. Or do they not understand the meaning of sucking out CO2 means.

The main purpose is to suck money out of the taxpayers. Sequestering CO2 is only secondary. Actually plants can use more CO2 than is currently available. That's why some greenhouses use CO2 generators.

I am so tired of the hippie enlightened elitist types.
They told us that tap water was bad so we should drink bottled water.
Now they complain about the plastic bottles and say tap water is fine.
They told us butter was bad and we should eat margarine.
Now they are trying to ban margarine and say butter is fine.
They told us paper bags killed too many trees so we switched to plastic.
Now they want to ban plastic bags.
They said coffee was bad for us.
Now they claim it as a healthy cure all.
They said we were all going to freeze as the climate changed.
Now they claim we are all going to burn up for same reasons.
I am reminded of Woody Allen in sleeper when he is revived after a 200 year sleep and the first thing they do is pop a cigarette in his mouth because it's now considered good for him.

Actually, #5, Gates bought DOS, didn't steal anything. Gates was smart enough to see that computers were going to be useful, and knew that the operating system was going to be a key item. IIRC, he paid the huge sum of $50K for the total rights to the existing Disk Operating System (DOS). And then, he licensed the rights to use it to IBM, and made a fortune.
The story is that Gates sent IBM to buy another well know operating system at that time called CPM (or CP/M). IBM went to meet with the owner of CPM and offered to buy CPM and they wouldn't/couldn't agree, so DOS was IBM's second choice, via Bill Gates. Apparently the owner of CPM had already become a millionaire and didn't think he needed to bother too much with IBM. Millionaire, billionaire.....what difference does it make?
CPM's owner later tried to sue IBM saying that DOS, written by a different company, then sold to Gates, and licensed to IBM, infringed on his software, and IBM agreed to offer both CPM and DOS for sale with the new IBM PC. An OS to use floppy disks was optional at extra cost for the IBM PC, and DOS cost $40 and CPM cost $240 and had less hardware support, and was delivered 6 months late. The default IBM PC used a cassette tape, and that OS was included with the system. DOS won out in the market place in the end.

Sucking carbon dioxide out of the air by machine? I think I've heard it all now. Plants do that quite effectively, converting atmospheric carbon dioxide to oxygen that is then expelled into the air. It's basic botany.
As for the involvement of Bill Gates, surely this man has too much time on his hands. Stick with your pet projects solving famine in India or wherever your thoughts take you, Bill.
