The New York Times is crowing that President Trump is apparently indecisive, if not downright schizophrenic, in deciding how to respond to Iran’s shooting down a U.S. Navy surveillance drone in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday. We are to believe the Commander-in-Chief ordered an attack, then abruptly belayed that order – hopelessly torn, presumably, between pleasing MAGA Country and appeasing hawkish National Security Adviser John Bolton.
Thankfully, the Executive Branch of the federal government is still able to maintain secrecy in conducting defense policy, and the actual deliberations on which options the President is considering probably remain unknown to the nation’s self-styled Newspaper of Record.

I would like for us to seize $123 million of Iranian assets outside Iran to pay for the drone, that along with pain and suffering compensation.

President Trump is thinking fiscal retaliation rather than physical retaliation. He knows what he is doing.

A rather startling thought came to me after hearing of Iran’s attack on a US drone. Given the stark contrast between the treatment of Iran by democrats, Obama, Kerry, Hillary, vs. Trump, wouldn’t Iran prefer to see them back in power in 2020? After all they got 150 billion in cash on palettes, or about seven border walls worth, and uranium Hillary helped facilitate channeled through Russia.
Is Iran attempting to provoke Trump into taking action to influence the 2020 election? Are our democrats colluding with Iran to do so? Iran is taking a great risk in attacking oil transport and shooting down our drones. Does it make more sense that they are taking that risk simply for revenge due to Trump’s undoing of Obama’s deal, or because they can restore the deal with the next democrat president? Wouldn’t it be more likely for them to provoke us with assurances from democrat leaders that they will keep Trump from inflicting severe punishment? What’s a few air strip pot holes compared to the value of getting a democrat win in 2020?

My uneducated guess is that we ran planes/ships etc into an attack mode to see what the Iranian response was going to be...sort of like calling a timeout in basketball after the other team sets up its defensive scheme

Fox Business just reported that the strike was called off because the Iranian leadership is extremely upset with the commander that made the decision to shoot down the drone.

Add to it the despicable Chuck U. comes out and criticizes President Trump in the midst of a foreign policy crisis. Instead of supporting the President and the country, he makes a rude comment about the administration "bumbling itself into a war". An American asset, worth $180 million was destroyed by an adversary, in a criminal fashion. However, Democrats continue to support the enemy. We need to send a message in 2020 House races with a resounding defeat - hopefully picking up 100 seats.

obviously he is telling Iran exactly what he will knock out if they bother him again. He is telling them that he has the weapons, the staff, and the will, and that he was hairsbreadth close this time, and that if they had actually killed anyone it would have gone ahead. It was a very clear communication. As for the NYT saying he is disorganized, they are probing him on behalf of Iran. mmm.... they want him to defend himself, by, let's see, giving an explanation, perhaps with names of who advised him, maybe with more details of the strike, or of his thinking about it, his timing, his information as he made the decisions.... and if he doesn't, they swear to call him Bad Names.

sorry for 2nd post but also i guess the NYT is inviting lower level staffers to come out with such information, and creating a context where such spies can describe such information as overzealousness for the reputation of PDJT, and can provide it to the NYT instead of directly to Iran or China. This is what the NYT is doing. I hope they go broke soon.

PDJT does not want to do anything that could possibly cause civilian casualties. There is a large faction of Iranian citizens that that are totally discontented with the Imam regime, and the Trump Administration does not want to do anything that would change the political climate , that may bring a revolt in the future.
Hitting them in the pocketbook however, keeps the discontent pot bubbling, which is in our favor.

This is really an interesting new world political game. Since the USA is no longer dependent on Middle Eastern oil, and China, Japan and Korea are VERY dependent on ME oil, maybe the much ballyhooed People's Liberation Army Navy (the silliest name on the planet, I think) will need to see if any of their ships can sail ALL THE WAY to the Straits of Hormuz and do something about their oil being cut off.
Not our ox being gored. Although we do need to get a couple hundred million dollars from Iran to pay oru people to build another drone. More wages, more US jobs. Cool, as long as Iran pays.
