Calls for censorship: The last desperate gasp of our dying legacy media

It’s sometimes hard to know if the folks at The New York Times are simply trolling us or if they’re completely serious. Times reporter Kevin Roose spun quite a yarn last Sunday entitled, “The Making of a YouTube Radical.” By radical, he and his paper mean those free-thinking Americans whose ideas lack the proper vetting from, well, them. Those that require censorship.

The press thinks that by hiding the fact that there are people who disagree with their opinions they can make those people go away. Actually, they are hoping to go back to the day when they could discourage those who disagreed with them so that they did not go out to vote. I believe that they will fail, as will the social media companies who subvert their business models to accommodate them.

This falls right in with the Socialism that the Leftist media supports. Under Socialism, the State controls information and the media wants to be the propaganda arm of that state. They are also trying to link the terrorist tinged word "radical" to Conservatives that disagree with them. Yet it is those on the Left who riot, disrupt, assault, and vandalize. Such people are supposedly just defending their rights. But people who disagree with the Left but only do so in words and in elections are labeled "radical".

The Trump – Pence campaign set a $7 million fundraising goal for the day of the President’s Election 2020 announcement in Orlando, Fla. In a fundraising memo to supporters, President Trump writes: “I want to do something so HUGE to launch 2020, even Democrats and the Fake News won’t be able to ignore. We need to raise $7,000,000 by 11:59 PM TONIGHT.” Instead, raising nearly $25 million, the President won bigly in his first day of official campaign fundraising. In perspective $25 million is more than what each of the top five candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination raised combined in the first 24 hours after they launched their campaigns.

Vlad Lenin is supposed to have once said that a lie told often enough becomes the truth. A sentiment then parroted by Adolf Hitler in Mein Kampf. It’s hard to argue their point, given what passes for climate change news here in the Pacific Northwest. Alternatively, at least it used to be. According to our governor, Jay Inslee, Western Washington is already in the middle of a drought. Meaning that, in normal Seattle-speak, it hasn’t rained for three days. In Jay’s panicked opinion, we’re locked in a heatwave so intense that it might be given disaster status.

The late publisher of the Washington Post, Katharine Graham, once said, “News is what someone wants to suppress. Everything else is advertising.” No one knows the truth of this observation better today than the dwindling number of conservatives still clinging by their fingernails onto their social media accounts. In an increasingly blatant move toward outright censorship, America’s key social networks are uniting to suppress conservatives and boost their cherished left-wing fantasies.

The historically pivotal Tea Party protest of 1773 was an iconic event of American history. It is the event that led to the start of the American Revolutionary War in 1775. The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that occurred at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists frustrated and angry at Britain for imposing “taxation without representation,” dumped 342 chests of British tea into the harbor.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday knocked reports that President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was going to be moved into solitary confinement in her district, calling the punishment “torture.” “Paul Manafort is being sent to solitary confinement in my district - Rikers Island. A prison sentence is not a license for gov torture and human rights violations. That’s what solitary confinement is. Manafort should be released, along with all people being held in solitary,” the New York Democrat tweeted.

President Donald Trump telegraphed to the American people that Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into the origins of the Russia collusion hoax is going international. The first hint that something of an alliance existed between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the international reach of the Deep State was provided by Michael Morell. Morell has served as both acting and deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (2010-2013).

During the Japanese bombardment of Shanghai in 1932, the Austrian essayist Karl Kraus was anguishing over the placement of commas in a column. It might seem futile at such a moment, he told a friend, but “if those who are obliged to look after commas had always made sure they were in the right place, then Shanghai would not be burning.” George Orwell made a kindred observation about the importance of having the courage to call things by their real names. Euphemism, the counterfeit of good manners, is the enemy of truth, which is the only ally worth having.

“What’s your pitch to the swing voter on the fence?” ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked President Trump on Sunday. Questions of this sort are gifts to politicians, but interviewers ask them for a couple of reasons. One, they’re civic-minded. Politicians deserve the opportunity to make their cases straightforwardly — and voters deserve to hear them. Second, they save time. (Snip) Trump’s initial answer started off following the standard script. He got four words off that must have had his political advisors cheering, “Safety, security, great economy.” Ideally, this is where Trump should have stopped talking.

With the arrival of summer, clergy at our synagogue have declared the beginning of "casual Shabbat." Until autumn, we are invited to attend services in casual attire, or coats and tie if we prefer. ‘Third World” is now an anachronistic geographical term of the old Cold War. But after 1989, “Third World” was reinvented from a political noun into an adjective to mean more than just Asian, African, and Latin American nations nonaligned with either the West or the Soviet bloc. Rather, the current modifier “Third World” has come to transcend geography, politics, and ethnicity. It simply denotes poor failed states all over the globe of all races and religions. Third World symptomologies are predictably corrupt government, unequal or nonexistent applicability of the law, two rather than three classes, and the return of medieval diseases

In April 1944, two Slovakian Jews named Alfred Weczler and Rudolf Vrba escaped from Auschwitz, and provided one of the first eyewitness accounts of the horrors of the European concentration camps. Both men had been rounded up with a group of their countrymen and sent to the Birkenau section of the camp in the spring of 1941, where they were immediately put to work as slave labor. This was before the German regime had properly streamlined and industrialized efforts to destroy European Jewry. In the early days of the camp, any man

Now the president has escalated his attacks even further, accusing the Times of a crime so grave it is punishable by death. On Saturday, Mr. Trump said the Times had committed “a virtual act of treason.” The charge, levied on Twitter , was in response to an article about American cyber incursions into the Russian electrical grid that his own aides had assured our reporters raised no national-security concerns. Few paid much attention. Many news organizations, including the Times, determined the accusation wasn’t even worth reporting, a sign of how inured we’ve grown to such rhetorical recklessness.

Most Democrats see economic inequality as a problem, but they don’t always agree about how extreme wealth should be treated. This question sharpened that debate: candidates like Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar said they did not object to people amassing vast fortunes, while others, like Bernie Sanders and Kirsten Gillibrand, called it offensive.

Three reasons Trump-Russia hasn't turned into Watergate 23 replies

Why haven't efforts to impeach President Trump gained Watergate-style momentum? The lack of energy has created a sense of bafflement and disappointment among some of the president's most determined adversaries. But there are some simple reasons for it. Here are three: 1.) The facts are different. In Watergate, the underlying crime was a break-in at Democratic National Committee headquarters, perpetrated by burglars paid by President Richard Nixon's reelection campaign. The scandal proceeded from there. In Trump-Russia, the underlying crime was the hacking of the DNC's and John Podesta's emails — a crime committed by Russians in Russia. Special counsel Robert Mueller, who indicted a number of Russians and Russian entities
