While previously pledged support for the Northern Triangle region related to Homeland Security and combating organized crime will continue, the State Department suspends any further financial assistance ($200 million) until the migration crisis is resolved.[Transcript at 01:28] (Snip)Working with Congress, we will reprogram those funds to other priorities as appropriate. This is consistent with the President’s direction and with the recognition that it is critical that there be sufficient political will in these countries to address the problem at its source. As Secretary Pompeo has said, these nations have the responsibility to take care of the immigration problems

The countries of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador really do need our help. They are violent, chaotic, corrupt messes and their people are suffering. But their governments have got to step it up! I hope this move helps.

I don't understand why the pro-illegal immigration enablers can't be indicted and punished. It seems to me that working with foreign agents to cause harm to America is a crime. I know that politicians are too afraid to do anything that might affect their rice bowl, but the DOJ should be able to do something.

I ask again, why do we keep giving money to other countries when our vets are dying in the VA hospitals and living in poverty on the streets...???? Especially to those far east countries who hate our guts?

#6, while I have many current and former military in my family, and do support veterans wounded in combat getting proper medical care, from what I have seen most "vets living on the street" are men who were drafted in Vietnam, many who had no overseas travel and/or no combat at all, who stayed in a minimum amount, pretty much against their will, and then turned into a mess. Having been drafted and serving for a couple of years doesn't seem to require the country to support them forever for whatever reason. Sympathetic in principle to real veterans, especially combat veterans, but many of the "poor downtrodden" have nothing to do with that, and 95% of their life and 100% of their problems have nothing to do with the military.

Smart move. Now make it permanent and use the $200M to build the wall. S-hole governments do not deserve US aid, let them collapse on themselves and figure how to do it right.

Excellent insight, #7. We who served with honor have carried that training and tradition into civilian life and do just fine. I have also seen many examples of combat wounded who have made successful and productive lives for themselves with missing limbs, PTSD, etc. Excuses are cheap.

This Land Is Our Land: An Immigrant’s Manifesto by Calcutta-born NYU journalism professor Suketu Mehta takes pro-immigration polemics to their logical conclusion: “Immigration as reparations.” Historically white countries must open their borders because whites have sinned and deserve punishment. But just lie back and think of diversity: Indeed, a huge bill is coming due to the West. And it is one that the West is not only morally obligated to pay, but one that it should look forward to paying.

Today, Apple Inc announces a restructuring of their supply chain away from China.
