Michael Avenatti, the lawyer who represented porn star Stormy Daniels in lawsuits against U.S. President Donald Trump, has been sued by a paraplegic former client who accused him of siphoning away a $4 million settlement he had won. Geoffrey Johnson is seeking at least $9.5 million, plus punitive damages, from Avenatti and several former colleagues in his civil lawsuit filed with the Orange County Superior Court in California. “I never thought I would get victimized by my own attorney,” Johnson, who uses a wheelchair, said at a press conference on Thursday. “I wish he had just given me my money.”

And too think, a year ago, the media was falling all over itself at the prospect of an Avenatti presidency. Even more outrageous was that he thought that he could pull all of this off without getting caught and run for president. Mental issues all around.

Egregious. I am willing to bet Avenatti would have permanently silenced his clients if the sudden heat hadn't caught up with him. A true sociopath - no wonder the msm loved him. Just like they loved Hillary, Bill and 0bama

Given this guy's penchant for avoiding obeying court orders that don't work in his favor, there comes a time in the life of guys like this where the courts should be able to step in and make it right for people he was supposed to be representing. He has stolen time after time after time, and that needs to be set right somehow. Justice for his clients demands it. My guess is, the guy is either broke, or all that money is in offshore accounts. Could be he moved it around like some kind of weird ponzi scheme as well..

Both the paraplegic and Anenatti are despicable. Why would a jury award 4 million to someone who injured themselves trying to commit suicide? Anenatti is sleazy and obviously stupid to think he could continue to do this and it wouldn't eventually catch up to him. No sympathy for either

One sometimes hears of politicians enjoying a “honeymoon” period in the early days after taking office. During these honeymoons, political differences are for the moment put aside so the newly installed officeholder can put his administration in place unperturbed by petty squabbles. In Chicago, where Mayor Lori Lightfoot was elected in April and sworn in on May 20, the honeymoon is already over. Regular readers will recall I have a special fondness for Chicago, where I first visited more than 30 years ago and made friendships that have lasted to this day. So it saddens me to watch from afar as the city’s reputation for culture, architecture, and professional sports

Four years ago, Donald Trump stepped onto an escalator in the atrium of Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York and began descending into a lobby packed with cameras. It’s safe to say the 10 or so seconds that followed are the most consequential escalator ride in American history. The cranked-up soundtrack was Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.” The cued-up crowd was made up of loyal staff, bemused reporters, people given 50 bucks to wave signs and make noise, and tourists and bystanders dressed up in early MAGA merchandise they’d just been handed. And they watched Trump, the director and leading man

ISTANBUL — The perilous contest between the United States and Iran for influence in the Middle East escalated dramatically on Thursday as two tankers were targeted in suspected attacks near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for global oil shipments. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran for the “blatant assault” on the vessels and said the United States would defend itself and its allies against Iranian aggression in the region. But he provided no evidence that the explosions had been the work of Iranian forces. The blasts appeared to be a coordinated attack, damaging the hull of a Japanese-owned tanker and striking a Norwegian-owned vessel,

In the spring of 1989, the Daily Telegraph sent Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson to Brussels to cover what was then the European Economic Community. Johnson, who was twenty-four, knew the city well. His father, Stanley, had been one of the first British bureaucrats appointed to work at the European Commission after the United Kingdom joined the bloc, in 1973. Johnson, his parents, and his three younger siblings moved to Belgium when he was nine years old, joining a sleepy community of expats. Johnson was a clever boy. He learned to speak French without an accent. When Johnson returned, his father invited an experienced Brussels correspondent, Geoff Meade, to lunch

The New York Times asks ‘Elizabeth Warren is running an ideas-first campaign. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has received a wave of backlash for promising to finding a cure to cancer if he is elected in 2020. When Biden was vice president to President Barack Obama, he had led the "Cancer Moonshot," which resulted in a report outlining recommendations for funding and areas to focus research. Biden also lost one of his sons, Beau, to cancer in 2015.

The Democrats of the House Judiciary Committee would like you to think of their work as a second coming of the Watergate investigation. But what we’ve seen so far looks more like those tedious panels of squabbling pundits you can catch on cable television pretty much any night of the week. Whether all of this leads to impeachment proceedings against President Trump, Americans deserve a better caliber of oversight than the performance we saw on Monday. The Judiciary Committee’s hearing, ostensibly into lessons learned from the report of special counsel Robert S. So far the media has managed to avert its eyes and studiously ignore a major story of corruption and malfeasance in Congress because to cover said story would totally destroy a narrative and expose them to allegations that they are racist. At the epicenter of this tale is the pustulent and rather dim Elijah Cummings from my current state of residence. Cummings is your typical product of the Maryland Democrat machine. The reek of corruption is always near him but never quite attaches to him because he is, as I said, the product of the Maryland Democrat machine and therefore bulletproof. Now all of that may be getting ready to change.

US President Donald Trump has caused a splash on Twitter after he tweeted to say he had met the "Prince of Whales". Mr Trump made the mistake, intending to refer to Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, in response to articles following an ABC news interview. He said he would listen if a foreign government gave damaging information about a political rival without necessarily reporting it to the FBI. In the tweet, he accused media reporting the statement of "fake news". (tweet) Mr Trump subsequently deleted his tweet and corrected his error. The series of town halls that Fox News is conducting for Democrat presidential candidates who take advantage of its generous offer of air time have been fairly interesting. Faced with moderators who do nor hug them the way Rachel Maddow did in a 2016 presidential debate, the strong ones have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills while the weak ones fall back on canned answers of dubious relevance to the questions asked. I was interested in seeing what Julian Castro had to offer yesterday at the town hall in Tempe, Arizona, where, we were told it was well over a hundred degrees outside.
