Let your freak flag fly, New York!
New York is coming out in a larger-than-life way this Pride Month, unveiling the biggest pride flag in the city’s history on Friday. But it won’t be a traditional cloth flag.
Instead, the normally gray, concrete steps at Roosevelt Island’s Four Freedoms Park will be painted to resemble the iconic rainbow symbol for the gay rights movement. The fitting hashtag: #AscendWithPride.
The location of the massive 12-foot-by-100-foot display of equality is no coincidence either. Four Freedoms State Park was established as a memorial to Franklin D. Roosevelt

Musings while on hold...
What exactly are they so proud of?
Can we please have at least one day when we don't have to hear about their pride or their goofy flag?
Why do they call themselves "gay" when they always are so angry?

Good grief these people are tiresome. Not sure which is more boring. Women's soccer or the sexually confused. Do what you want with your own genitals just stop talking about it.

An all-brown flag would be more appropriate, symbolic of sodomy.

Well, I think everyone should have a homosexual experience just to see how wonderful what they have is worth celebrating! They even have a parade!

The “iconic rainbow” is NOT the symbol for the deviant homosexual movement. It is the symbol of God’s mercy and his promises.
Agree with #1 - what exactly are they proud of? Using the lower digestive tract as a sex organ?

Since it's no longer a felony or against the law to urinate in public in New York, those steps would make a mighty fine place to relieve oneself! The gates to the Mayors residence or the steps at city hall would be two more alternatives!

Another great reason to STFO of NYC. If Socom and Gomorrah were twin cities, this misuse of nature's prism colors would be that flag.

Why do we have to honor 1.5% of the population for 8.5 % of the year?

From wikipedia: we understood that we had a work of art, and the forces that represent the artistic and cultural integrity of the project are concerned about preserving that work. The purity and integrity of the Kahn memorial is what made it so stunning.....now is will become a beacon for sodomy and immoral acts....welcome to the new America....what aggravates me is those crazies stole God's symbol for their flag....

I had to laugh that it was being done at the FDR memorial on Roosevelt Island because of the background of its building. It's an ugly, 1960s era design built 40 years too late that got bulled through by the Roosevelt Foundation trustees for their own egotistical reasons and special parties. (FDR has a perfectly good memorial, large site, and library run by the National Park Service and National Archives not far away in Hyde Park NY but that wasn't enough for them). The fact of the matter is that the entire memorial allee of trees blocks the sight lines south of RI down the East River and ends in a giant granite wall with its grotesque giant head of FDR. So personally it being defaced by the rainbow colors the LGBTQXYZ crowd co-opted matters not.

#11, yes!!! They have appropriated the rainbow from the Jews - God's promise that the flood would never happen again. How is that ok but others can't wear a sombrero or a young girl is castigated on Twitter for wearing a Japanese kimono for prom?

Fair and simple: it's just not news. You would hope a professional journalism rag could understand the difference between propaganda to promote a cause and a story worth reporting.
...and yet they feel they are being misjudged unfairly about their biases........

Any group that has to continually talk about their "pride".....pride month, day, etc, etc. has serious doubts that they have anything to be proud of.

If they were truly interested in equality, they wouldn't hide themselves in clubs and bars away from the mainstream. It's not about equality as much as it is about identity and the politics of identity. They've been annexed and exploited by the Left for political reasons.

So many historic firsts in a city with no social problems. Do they discuss Eleanor Roosevelt's long-time female companion? For curious children, there's even a "pop-up explainer" (I'm afraid to ask) that will tell them all about this healthy lifestyle.
