President Donald Trump may not alert the FBI if foreign governments offered damaging information against his 2020 rivals during the upcoming presidential race, he said, despite the deluge of investigations stemming from his campaign's interactions with Russians during the 2016 campaign. Asked by ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in the Oval Office on Wednesday whether his campaign would accept such information from foreigners -- such as China or Russia -- or hand it over the FBI, Trump said, "I think maybe you do both."
"I think you might want to listen, there isn't anything wrong with listening," Trump continued. "If somebody called from a country,

After all, Hillary accepted "dirt" albeit fake "dirt" on Trump from a foreigner Christopher Steele.

Why did the Trump White House agree to this interview with Stephanopoulis? Whose bright idea was this in the WH Office of Communications? Some GOPe type like Mercedes Schlapp? Not just an interview, but trip on Marine 1, etc. Georgie is a Dem political hack and not a journalist - not that being a journalist these days is much different than being a political hack. Of all the news media out there, especially conservative news, the WH gives all this access to George/ABC News so they can try and smear the President. And why oh why Mr. President -didn't you mention Hillary Clinton's role in the Steele Dossier?

Hillary didn't just accept dirt, she paid Christopher Steele to generate fake dirt. Then the Deep State elites under the direction of the Obama administration used that fake dirt to get FISA warrants to spy on their political opponents. But to the twisted minds of the Stephanopoulos's of the world, Trump is the dangerous one.

This answer was not reported at first - instead, it was reported that DJT would take such information form a foreign source.
MSNBC turned it into a campaign violation! What a crew!

His campaign's interactions with Russians? Lucien should tell Mueller about that interaction because Mueller couldn't find any. Remember that audio of the Russian comedian punking Adam Schiff about having dirt on Trump? Schiff couldnt eat it up fast enough. Did Schiff alert the FBI?

Interesting that Stephanopolis has never asked the Democrats or Hillary that same question. SHE ran a major opposition research group that was responsible for the fake dossier, bought and PAID for. Opportunity research is o.k., paying for lies is not.

Of course he'd take it, the only thing that separates him from everybody else is his honesty. Opposition research is a valid part of the process, it's part of the vetting. There is always a potential for quid pro quo, you know, like having greater flexibility in your second term.
Paying foreign assets or anybody else to manufacture slanderous accusations is another matter.

President Trump did not say he would take it. He said he would listen and, maybe (if he thought it was serious enough) report it to the FBI.
Listening is not soliciting, and certainly not purchasing. I think President Trump is laughing in his sleeve, trolling the left!

The Trump communications crew had to know that that when President Trump sat down to be interviewed by George Snuffalupagas, who is a Clinton politician operative, that there would be set up questions to try to make he President look bad and to create fraudulent controversy, no matter how he answered those questions.
The Democrats are essentially insinuating that if a foreign government or individual told Trump something inconsequential like what brand of hair oil a Democrat Candidate used that Trump should have said that he would report such conversations to the FBI. That’s idiotic.
Common sense will tell you interference in the USA political process and elections is a very sensitive subject with the Trump crew, you can safely bet on that. In that environment anything of substance regarding the Democrat candidates that comes to Trump’s personal attention from foreigners will immediately be brought to the attention of the intelligence and law enforcement agencies and from time to time the corrupt Democrats may regret that.

What am I missing? The President of the United States is talking to a foreigner. In the course of that conversation the foreigner communicates some information about a Democrat presidential candidate. The President must choose to not hear what the foreigner says until he consults with someone at the FBI. Did I get that right? Hmmmm! Or perhaps the President is required to report to the FBI whatever foreigners say to him. Where in the Constitution is this? Nonsense question. Fake news.

Probably not the most artful answer -- but maybe he should have said "You mean like how Hillary Clinton and the DNC dealt with former British spies, Australian diplomats, Italian spooks, and Russian disinformation sources? Doesn't look like they've paid much of a price for their use of foreigners for political intelligence or phony stories."
Anyway, how do you know if somebody was offering "damaging information" against your rivals unless you met with them?

So if someone from another country walks up to Trump and tries to tell him what, say, Joe Biden did in China, then Trump is OBLIGATED to stick his fingers in his ears and yell, "NANY NANY NANY!" until the foreigner stops talking and walks away?
THIS is the stooooopidest "set up" I've ever heard of. Of course, he would LISTEN! And then report it, if necessary, to the proper authorities. The Deep State (media, Uniparty, etc.) is trying (AGAIN) to make something out of nothing!

And, #17, they have succeeded. I have a Facebook friend who posted the ABC article and was "very concerned". When I asked them if they thought Hillary should be prosecuted for soliciting dirt on Donald Trump from Christopher Steele, they asked me if i had any proof that she had...another one of her friends had NEVER heard of the Steele Dossier. And when he looked it up all he found out about it was that it was discredited (which he appeared to take to mean that Hillary had not solicited it).

#18: To which I would reply: Since when is it against the law to LISTEN to what someone tells you?
If that's the case, then some nut job needs to get close enough to President Trump so he can shout out some dirt on "the opposition" just so they can arrest Trump for . . . . ummm . . . . errrr . . . the high crime and misdemeanor of LISTENING! (Never mind about the person who had to LISTEN to get the information in the first place.)
Let me rephrase what I said: For any THINKING person, this is utterly stoooopid!!

It’s just leftist and liberal Democrat media operatives attempting to take advantage of President Trump’s sometimes imprecise off the cuff Queens vernacular. Asking what Trump would do in the future when foreigners talk with him about American Democrat candidates, the American political process, and American elections without Trump having a clue as to the context or subject of such future conversations is a big nothing burger, and is aimed at confusing the low information Democrat identity based constitutency groups who generally don’t have a clue!

Trump, as any American citizen, has a right to communicate with any person foreign or domestic on political subjects such as information on political opponents. He has an obligation to verify it in some way before using it or he could be subject to slander or libel laws if he uses it publicly. There never was a statute in the US Code that prohibits this communication. Paying for the gathering of such information using campaign funds and hiding the activity behind a law office front organization without reporting it is a campaign law violation. This is what Clinton and the DNC did to get the Steele dossier.

The answer is that anyone who wants to peddle political dirt does not get an interview with the President of the United States, his family or his senior staff. All staff are instructed to report such contacts to senior legal counsel for referral to law enforcement if appropriate.
