Washington - A House panel will hold a hearing next week on the topic of reparations for slavery. The House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties is set to hold a hearing June 19 on legislation that would establish a commission to study the consequences and impacts of slavery and make recommendations for reparations proposals. The hearing is titled "H.R. 40 and the Path to Restorative Justice." (Snip) "While we have focused on the social effects of slavery and segregation, its continuing economic implications remain largely ignored by mainstream analysis," Jackson Lee said, adding, "These economic

Comments:

Do we need to remind everyone that Democrats were the slave party? Any reparations should come exclusively from white liberals.

The House could be working on healthcare, immigration, the exponentially increasing deficit, campaign finance reform or a host of other things that impact the entire country. But no. They persist in veering off road between maniacal persecution of the President and the inherent victim-hood of everyone else. They are sick. And useless. I'm going to refrain from characterizing them as evil. Let's just leave it at sick and useless.

We have already paid Reparations and sick of it. It never ends. Most Americans have no idea of the free stuff going to the ghetto while they pinch pennies. The past president and his wife took most of the reparations and enjoyed it while complaining about the country who put them in office with white guilt. How about white slavery ? When do their descendants get reparations ? Personally, I want to see age, race and gender taken off all applications. Either you can do the job or you can't.

I agree with reparations. Let's start with President Trump getting a do-over for his first term, without impacting his ability to run for a "second" term. When that happens we can discuss people who never owned slaves giving money to people who were never slaves. MAGA - Whether they like it or not.

Give the present day slaves each $1.00 US Currency and tell them they have been paid in full. Then present them with the co$t of welfare, food stamps, subsidised housing, OBAMA phones, etc. that have been given them at no cost. Tell the present day slaves they have already had their reparations and to get a job. The Trump economy has produced millions of jobs.

MIAMI —From one of the earliest moments of the debate, former congressman Beto O’Rourke demonstrated the promise and the peril of his presidential candidacy. He spoke of bringing the country together, and surprised some of his competitors by breaking into Spanish and displaying a fluency with connecting with Latino voters. But underneath it all he failed to answer a basic question on what has emerged as a big issue in the primary campaign — whether he would support a 70 percent tax rate on the wealthy. He then dodged a follow-up question, and then another. Time and again, O’Rourke’s answers seemed

The most personal attack of Thursday’s Democratic debate was aimed not at President Donald Trump, but at former Vice President Joe Biden. California Sen. Kamala Harris called out Biden on the issue of race, saying the way he recently described his past working relationship with two segregationist lawmakers was “hurtful.” Biden, at a campaign event earlier this month, had cited his ability to get things done even with segregationist senators as examples of the type of “civility” in Congress that has since disappeared. Numerous Democratic presidential candidates took Biden to task for the comments, though some in his party, including
