US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez turned tail on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue to avoid a potential Republican challenger as they both marched in the National Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, her political opponent said. Talk-radio producer Rich Valdes told The Post that he tried to challenge the freshman Democratic congresswoman to a debate on the merits of capitalism versus socialism when he spotted her near West 47th Street. But Ocasio-Cortez “cut her handshaking short, jerked her hand back and jetted to the other side of the street,” Valdes said.

To call Freshman Congress member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “brazen” is to traffic in redundancy. Since her arrival in D.C. she has moved between acting entitled to demanding obedience, well beyond her pay grade — and now she wants a higher pay grade as well. The subject of Congressional pay raises has come up and AOC, who has been on the job for mere months, is already stating she needs to be paid more. Maybe you can toss a hint of extortion in that mix as well. If you have ever worked in an office you may have encountered this type. Leftism Makes People Meaner: Reflections

The sadistic treatment of Paul Manafort illustrates something I have believed since I attended graduate school in the 1970s and saw the behavior of left-wing students: Leftism makes people meaner. There are kind and mean conservatives and kind and mean liberals. Neither liberalism nor conservatism makes people kinder or meaner. But this is not the case with leftism. With the handful of exceptions that accompany every generalization, leftism makes people meaner, even crueler. Take the transfer of Manafort, the one-time Trump campaign manager, from a federal prison to New York's Rikers Island prison. Rikers Island is universally regarded as a wretched place. As Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz wrote

House Democrats on Monday evening abruptly halted an effort to increase congressional pay for the first time since 2009, saying the proposal would be reviewed carefully after several freshmen Democrats made overt efforts to block it. Members of Congress generally make $174,000 per year, with senior leaders earning more, and no cost-of-living adjustments have been made in the past nine years. However, vulnerable swing-state Democrats, concerned how the proposed $4,500 pay hike would look if it didn't also have Republican support, had signed onto amendments rejecting the measure.

Jonathan Nichols, 53, was found dead inside his home in Norman on Wednesday night from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Cops are working with the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause and manner of death. His death comes just one day after former Arkansas state Sen. Linda Collins-Smith, 56, was found fatally shot outside her home in Pocahontas on Tuesday. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.

The last few days have been a clear example of why Sen. Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is wobbling. Let’s begin with the former district attorney’s visit to her home ground for the 75th anniversary celebration of the Sun Reporter, the town’s African American newspaper. Harris worked the pre-party crowd with charm, sharing jokes and memories with everyone she came across. But when she took the stage, we got a 30-minute lecture on the importance of the First Amendment. An inspiring subject, but she went on way too long and without any reference to where she was or who was in the room.

Yesterday, a source at Facebook exclusively spoke to Breitbart News about the “hate agents” list, which includes a number of prominent recently-banned individuals including Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer, and Alex Jones. A Facebook spokeswoman confirmed the existence of the list, but denied that Candace Owens has been investigated. The spokeswoman also emphasized that a recent seven-day ban of Owens was a mistake and has been reversed.

Sure, The Avengers: Endgame is a conservative movie, just like Star Wars and Star Trek. “Not Star Trek!” shriek its doughy fanboys, who go on to point out how that cinematic universe embraces collectivism: the characters all conform, have no money and don’t believe in God. Fine, then Star Trek is a millennial movie series. No, scratch that – Captain Kirk used to get babes and millennials are famously barren. Now, it’s not like Avengers is blatant about its politics, as if the characters chose up sides in some sort of civil war. Oh wait, they did do that a few movies

President Donald Trump’s outside political machine is setting a $300 million fundraising goal and is pitching major GOP donors on a plan to target six swing states that are likely to decide the 2020 election, according to people familiar with the group’s blueprint. The news comes after weeks of questions — some voiced by Republicans close to the president — about whether the organization is prepared for the presidential campaign. And it follows the appointment of a prominent new chairwoman, ex-Trump cabinet member and former WWE executive Linda McMahon.

A liberal Washington Post columnist is blaming two foot surgeries and anti-President Trump views among the reasons the White House has cut him off at the knees. In a pretty sappy column, he explained that for the last 21 years he has had a “front-row seat to history.” I won’t bore you with the various moments in history that have touched him, but he said he’s not the only reporter who is suffering the loss. Democrats have grown infuriated by Attorney General William Barr´s indifference to their hysteria over the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Barr recently released a brief summary of special counsel Robert Mueller´s conclusions that Donald Trump did not collude with the Russians to warp the 2016 election. Barr added that Mueller had not found enough evidence to recommend that Trump be indicted for obstruction of justice for the non-crime of collusion.

The new version was released by the Department of Justice in response to a Freedom of Information Act request and a subsequent lawsuit filed by BuzzFeed News and separately by the Electronic Privacy and Information Center. There is nothing normal about undermining the rule of law,” she said, per the Associated Press. “There is nothing normal about attacking the press.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg knows firsthand the burden of six-figure student loan debt. He and his husband, Chasten, are far from alone, though, and their personal college indebtedness is helping to keep the issue on the national stage. With loans totaling more than $130,000, they are among the 43 million people in the United States who owe federal student loan debt. The debtors are so numerous and the total debt so high — more than $1.447 trillion, according to federal statistics — that several of the Democratic candidates have made major policy proposals to address the crisis. Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton believes President Trump's administration is a gateway to fascism. Her remarks came with a specific reference to former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's new book, Fascism: A Warning. How seriously should we take any “warning” written by a former secretary of state who mocked 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney when he cautioned about the growing Russian threat? I am going to say not much.

This summer, PBS Kids premiered an episode of the children's show Arthur in which a teacher, Mr. Ratburn, "marries" another male character. Even before this premiere, PBS was already infusing the LGBT agenda into its programming. In between its shows, a happy song about families included an image of two dads with a baby and lyrics to that effect. Disney and other children's stations long ago jumped onto the LGBT bandwagon with their line-up. As a Guardian headline noted in 2016, "From Nickelodeon to Disney: Children's TV leads the way for LGBT characters," with same-sex unions featuring prominently in shows. It is not just television,

California wants to look after its people, so it keeps expanding its social safety net. It also wants to welcome all comers and so embraces illegal immigrants and protects them in sanctuary cities. To see how this is working out, visit Skid Row in L.A. or neighborhoods in San Francisco or elsewhere where homeless camps are spreading. Caring for all Californians is made harder by the state importing as many non-Americans as possible. It's almost incredible, but also entirely characteristic, that California lawmakers have now decided to give healthcare free to nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants aged 19 to 25.

Lake Erie and Lake Superior — two of the five that make up the Great Lakes — broke records for water levels this May. Lakes Michigan and Huron could follow suit. Naturally, climate change is getting the blame. “We are undoubtedly observing the effects of a warming climate in the Great Lakes,” says Richard Rood, a University of Michigan climate scientist. But just a few years ago, climate scientists were insisting that a warming climate would cause water levels to decline. In 2008, Science Daily reported on a study that attributed the decline in Great Lakes water levels to global warming.
