Bill Maher asked the panel on his HBO television show to hypothesize what would happen if President Trump killed his team of advisers negotiating with North Korea. On Friday's episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher," the comedian was joined by New York Times columnist Charles Blow, Democratic Rep. Katie Porter, and national security analyst Clint Watts. Maher posed the hypothetical in light of reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un killed or imprisoned members of his own negotiating team."Reported last week, Kim Jong Un had his entire negotiating team killed. Well, what would happen if Bill took a walk in Ft. Marcy Park and Hillary was arrested for murder? So the same thing would happen to a president, except that if Trump killed someone the impeachment would take about 24 hours and then he would be arrested.

Rod Rosenstein predicts Attorney General William Barr's detractors who criticize him for his handling of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation may come around one day.No stranger to controversy himself, the former deputy attorney general stressed to the New York Times that Barr made the right call when he determined there was insufficient evidence to initiate criminal prosecution against President Trump for obstruction of justice.“A few years from now, after all of this is resolved, some of Barr’s critics might conclude that his approach was a reasonable way to navigate through a difficult situation,” he said.

The deal to avert tariffs that President Trump announced with great fanfare on Friday night consists largely of actions that Mexico had already promised to take in prior discussions with the United States over the past several months, according to officials from both countries who are familiar with the negotiations. Friday’s joint declaration says Mexico agreed to the “deployment of its National Guard throughout Mexico, giving priority to its southern border.” But the Mexican government had already pledged to do that in March during secret talks in Miami between Kirstjen Nielsen, then the secretary of homeland security, and Olga Sanchez, the Mexican secretary of the interior, the officials said.

Stacey Abrams’s refusal to lose the Georgia gubernatorial election graciously was one of the low points of the 2018 midterms. But her insistence that Brian Kemp and the Republicans stole the election from her has now become an article of faith among Democrats. Democratic presidential contenders who traveled to Atlanta this week to speak to the African-American Leadership Council repeated the claim, which Abrams has made more than a dozen times since she lost to Kemp by 54,723 votes last November. In rote fashion, they repeated Abrams’s charges that the outcome was determined by “voter suppression” conducted by Kemp, who
