It all started when Franklin Graham, CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse, issued a plea to the nation to pray for President Trump. Graham made an announcement on his Facebook page at the end of May, asking Christians to set aside June 2 "as a special day of prayer for the president."
"We know that God hears and answers prayer." he wrote. "He can soften hearts and change minds. He is all-powerful, and He rules over the affairs of nations. The Bible instructs us to pray for those in authority, “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

From what I understand Farwell was criticizing the pastor for apologizing for praying for Trump. If so, it is a valid criticism, in my opinion.

All the reading that I have done indicates Platt said or did nothing wrong.

Pastor Platt handled it correctly.
Have we had a more Pro-Life President? He just stopped fetal tissue research with Federal funds.
His judicial appointments have been stellar.
Have we not seen PDJT bring African-American pastors to the White House on criminal justice reform?
We should all be saying Amen to the prayer that we ask God to guide our leaders.
My impression is that our Samson is taking it to the Plilistines as the Philistines have never seen before.
May this Samson always hear the Counsel of the Lord.

Too much tut-tutting by Ms Bolyard.
Falwell's tweet was a bit crude, perhaps, but not enough to get into a pearl-clutching tizzy.
For some time it was unclear whether Pastor Platt was apologizing for "offending" rabid Leftists, or not.
I'd give Falwell a pass for his reaction to the initial "apology" story.

I have to agree with Fallwell on this one.
The pastor did a good thing in praying for President Trump!!! But then the PC excuses started flowing from his mouth!!! And PC is about as far from God as we get these days!!!
I remember one Sunday, my minister (who I know totally disagreed with pretty much everything Ovomit stood for), said a prayer for God's leadership and protection of President Ovomit!!! That was it. No follow-up to explain what he really meant (since he was very clear in his prayer), and no PC backpedaling!!! Just a prayer for our president and get on with the service!!!

I think it's pretty sad when a preacher apologizes for praying for or with The President Of The US. That church I would Not attend! If you can't pray for the leader of the free world who can you pray for? Sorry Platt you are not my kind of preacher.

This is unnecessary squabbling, worthy of a new chapter in the Screwtape Letters. Falwell could have simply said to the under-attack Pastor Platt: "I support the prayer you made in your church. Now, I'll pray for you."

FTA:
"Platt was in a tough position. He had but a few minutes to decide what to do."
Now, just imagine . . .
Once upon a time, President Obama announced that he was going to show up in Pastor Platt's church to ask the church to pray for him. Pastor Platt said, "No". And everybody was OK with this.
The end.
Now, back to reality.

How can Christians be so offended by their pastor praying a genuine prayer for anyone? If my pastor decided to pray for hillary one Sunday, I'd be like, "AMEN." She needs prayer. And repentance. If President Trump is so bad, why can't they do the same, and say amen and be done with it? Dang! what's wrong with people these days! Can you imagine Jesus tabernacling here in the 21st century? You think PDT can shut down a conversation! WWJD?

If this article is accurately portraying the pastor's so-called apology to church members who do not support Mr. Trump, then I don't see what the problem is. Clergy are not supposed to be partisans when it comes to politics. They are supposed to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed and then let the chips fall where they may.
So . . . It doesn't sound like the pray was in any way partisan. The pastor could pray the same prayer for other presidents whose views are not in line with Evangelical Christianity. And it doesn't sound like the "apology" was wimpy either. According to many Christians, schism is one of the worst of sins. The pastor was trying to avoid schism and preserve a unity that transcends commitment to a political party or political leader.

As we all know, Falwell's quite a swinger. Or was that his Dad? Or Both? Get on your private jet, I don't care which one of the fleet and GO away.

As deeply as I am convinced God is real and involved in our daily lives and that all people must one day pass through His arms to be judged, I am equally convinced all man-made religions are tools of Satan!

This is pretty simple. The pastor does not believe the President is Christian enough. He prayed that Trump would have clarity to make the correct decisions. He prayed that Trump would have divine Wisdom. He repeated the word "Wisdom." Than he insulted Trump with the sentence "Fools despise wisdom."

Franklin Graham did not ask for prayer for the president in a generic way, like one could ask for prayer for any president in terms of 1Tim. He asked for it in a sense that the president is a good man under attack from satanic forces. This requires taking sides. I agree with Graham. I understand why pastors want to avoid politics, even when one party wants to criminalize Christianity and the other wants to protect it. While I would never say it, maybe some pastors do need to grow a pair.

Pres. Trump needed prayer. God chose Pastor Platt to do the job. Pastor Platt prayed and Trump left the church quietly when it was over. There was no Divine Intervention because God set this up. If this was God's will, then whether Pastor Platt did or did not, "apology", was not necessary. Re: Falwell, I don't know. Maybe, he wanted attention or maybe he thought Christians should never have to apologize or be ashamed of their FAITH.

In case some are concerned about Graham's associations, One of the few charities I would give money to is Samaritan's Purse. Franklin Graham runs a clean organization, and he and his people are usually first on the scene of a disaster, and unlike the Red Cross, they do not charge people for the help. Franklin Graham is a true believer in charity, and he is one of the few who walks the talk. Franklin Graham lived the story of the Prodigal Son, and he is God's son now.

McLean Bible Church is a huge non-denominational hipster megachurch complete with latte bar in northern Fairfax County. It's no doubt largely attended by libtards who schiffed their pants when Trump walked in the door. Not the kind of place I would attend. It's directly on the route back to the White House from Trump's Fairfax golf course, which is probably why he chose to stop at that particular church. The pastor did right by inviting the President into his congregation. It's a shame he then had to pander to and mollify the haters in his congregation. I guess he's more concerned about keeping butts in the pews than in maintaining his integrity. Falwell is right that he needs to grow a spine (among other things).
