These shocking pictures from downtown Los Angeles capture the growing problem it faces with trash and rodents in a desperate city also trying to contain a typhoid fever outbreak linked to worsening sanitary conditions.
A decision to not cap the total amount of property that homeless people can keep on Skid Row was announced last Wednesday and it sparked fury among some officials who say it will ‘only perpetuate the public health crisis that already exists’ there.
That, coupled with the news a Los Angeles police detective has been diagnosed with typhoid fever, has sparked concern among LA’s residents.

Im sure that these pictures have been cherry picked to portray LA in the worst possible light. However, from the time that I lived there in the early 90's to today, LA is working overtime to look like a third world, to paraphrase Trump, craphole.

This is worse than San Francisco. At least what I remember of SF 10 years ago. It’s a lot cheaper to relocate all those bums to an isolated area and fence them in. They’ll have bunks, food, and medical care; cheaper than the cost of law enforcement, court costs, sanitation, lost tourism and ruined businesses. There would be no trash and hoarding allowed.

I've recently been to SF and Seattle and they're similar... once beautiful cities pockmarked by homeless camps, drug paraphernalia and heaps of trash. Even our liberal friends recognize that the leadership is making it worse for everyone.

#8 just a sidebar. I do have liberal friends, very intelligent liberal friend. We used to debate and enjoy each others' company. More and more we agree and enjoy each others' company. They are still not conservatives but they love this country as much as I do and feel sick lately.

City should put dumpsters in those areas and pay the homeless to keep their areas clean. That doesn't fix the feces/urine problem, but it would be a start. Positive reinforcement for desired behavior. Yeah, the druggies probably would spend the money on more drugs, but if the trash is picked up, who cares.

Southern California is like Humpty Dumpty, it can never be put together again. I moved out of SoCal in 1988 to Northern California and from my new perch I sadly watched the decay move in my direction. Now I feel like we live in the Alamo or the DMZ trying to protect and hold on to the culture that once made California a great state. Now NorCal is crumbling. For the most part, the entire Bay Area is undesirable due to its high costs and all the problems that come with overcrowding. The exodus and retreat from the Bay Area is rapidly coming my way and soon, I fear, most of California will be like Humpty Dumpty.

Typhus, dysentery, Bubonic plague (which already happened in 1924), cholera, all diseases that could be ready to break out any day now, especially if the heat intensifies as we get further into summer.

Speaking of Tijuana, there’s very little trash problem in the business areas. “Paseo de los Heroes” is a very clean thoroughfare.

ATTENTION L.A. RESIDENTS!
Got Junk? Donate your junk and trash to the homeless on Skid Row. Gather your neighbors together, get a big truck, load it up, and take it to Skid Row for the homeless. They will thank you greatly. MAYBE even share a hit with you, if you're so inclined.
(Please consult your tax advisor about a charitable deduction. I don't know, but maybe Cali will allow one.)

I have said before, and I am no rocket scientist, cities, such as LA, SF, Portland, Seattle are on the verge of a new plague because of the filth being allowed to accumulate because of the pilles of filth piling up in the cities mentioned. I live in Seattle and try to avoid the most infested areas. I'm afraid it may be a losing battle with the moronic democrats, who have been in control, literally forever. God have mercy upon us.

To quote a friend and diehard Democrat...”The Democrat Party is the party of the little guy!” I don’t try to discuss it with him because it’s so ingrained in his mind. Things will get worse in these cities before they get better, if ever.

As very young newlyweds in 1957, we moved to San Diego, California, on a lark. All we knew about the state was from the movies. It was fun, although expensive for our limited budget. After three years, however, we had enough and came back home to Texas. Thank goodness we didn't try to live the rest of our lives out there in that area. At least it was clean and livable in those years. Twenty years later, we returned on a visit and could see the deterioration. Now, it is obviously no place for a young couple raising a family.

My mom used to tell me stories of growing up in the thirties and forties in a very small town. Bums, hoboes and vagrants would climb off the train, steal everyone’s chickens, fattening pigs, clothes on the line, etc until the sheriff or someone chased them out. It wasn’t funny or to be tolerated from an excess of sympathy. They were stealing people’s food and livelihood. My how things are changed. There’s such a thing as too much sympathy and understanding.

And these residents (Hollyweird) act as the "Moral Arbiters" of our nation, telling the rest of us what to think and do. Let the millionaire frauds help their own town residents. How many of them actually volunteer at the homeless shelters?

Californians are not going to get their cities back until they rise up and burn the liberal/progressive/Commucrats out of office....THEN they can start to reclaim their state and maybe restore some sanity. How much more Bovine Fecal Matter are you willing to listen to from these sanctimonious, guarded, gated community types?

The leftists have tolerated themselves into a corner. If it's a basic human right to live on the streets, why then are the antisocials denied their property rights? Isn't walking around their encampments and shopping carts the least we can do? The loud Hollywood leftists are OK with it; sitting atop their fortunes while telling the rest of us to do more to help.
