That was quick.Just hours after President Trump announced he will be imposing 5% tariffs on Mexican imports over illegal immigration, Mexico’s president Lopez Obrador sent Trump a letter begging for a meeting to work toward a solution.“Mexico’s President Lopez Obrador asks Trump to have U.S. officials meet with the Mexican foreign minister in Washington on Friday to seek a solution that benefits both nations,” Reuters reported. A solution that benefits both nations? Okay. You keep your stinking peasants on your side of the wall and maybe we think about not imposing a tariff. How's about that?

Work on the wall should have begun back in 1836 following the Texan’s victory at San Jacinto. It was clear even back then that Mexico was corrupt from top to bottom and would likely never get any better. Show me any place the Spanish trod their muddy boots and I’ll show you a genuine crap hole.

Well, well, well, it looks like Mexico is literally going to pay for the wall. The continual expense of law enforcement at the wall will be paid for USMCA and the wall will get paid for by the tariffs. If Congress doesn't like tariffs they have no one to blame but themselves as they made all the loopholes, laws, etc. possible. God bless VSG President Donald J. Trump.

Meanwhile the Democrats are busy looking for a liberal judge who thinks he is in charge of US tariffs.

President Trump should tell him that the tariff will increase WEEKLY unless they stop the invasion. Then add more fees.

#6, besides #9's very cogent reply, if made in Mexico costs more than their competitors, they don't make as many sales. So if a product of theirs is in a tight commodity market they either eat the uplift or lose sales. If they have more headroom on another product market, then they may try to pass the uplift on to the consumer, but since this market isn't yet a 'socialist paradise' we have choices, and the price uplift makes the Mexican product less competitive, if they raise the price by passing the tariff on to the consumer. So maybe you'll choose to pay more, or you'll buy an alternative or you'll do without, in general. Bottom line, it hits Mexico where it hurts. And can be made a lot more painful.

The Mexicans will not do anything to stop masses of illegal aliens from approaching the US borderline with the philosophy that if the USA cannot protect its Border why should the Mexicans?
The Mexican President just put out a statement essentially to the effect that President Trump and his America First policies are as illegitimate as the borderline itself, and that all such migrants that are now illegally crossing the US borderline should be welcomed into the USA in unlimited numbers. That is nothing new, as the Mexicans have always considered the borderline to be but an illegitimate impediment to Mexicans, criminals or not, seeking to enter the USA to do as they wish in defiance of US immigration laws to make a “better life” for themselves, their families, and by extension Mexico.
Chances are the UniParty Congress will not support President Trump on this issue, making it a lot more likely that massive numbers of poor, uneducated, and socialist oriented bogus asylum seeking aliens, who are in reality economic migrants, will continue to be appearing at the borderline seeking entry to the USA, by taking fraudulent advantage of the current leftist and liberal Democrat created incompetent asylum laws that completely ignore massive fraud, and thus give the international criminal cartels a big leg up in their efforts to recruit and bring huge numbers of what are foreign economic migrants and foreign criminals to the US borderline.
What is happening now along the borderline is all on the Uniparty Congress. The Democrats want to grant as many of those aliens as possible amnesty and to eventually grant them US voting rights in their quest to transform the USA into a minority majority country and a socialist utopia, with the Republicans wanting as much cheap foreign labor as possible to get into the USA, to lower business labor costs, thus increasing business profits to enrich the Republican supporting investor class. What we are watching now is President Trump up against the “DC Swamp” and is the big reason why Trump was elected in the first place..

Actions speak louder than words. Stop the flow of illegals and drugs and THEN we can talk.

My point was about availability and cost to we consumers. Try to find auto parts not made in Mexico. I know, I just did a repair job yesterday.
