A Manhattan straphanger who claimed to have been attacked by two men yelling gay slurs was actually the one doing the attacking, according to police. Cops say the 25-year-old, who has not been identified, set upon the two men at the Chambers St. station in Tribeca while on an uptown A train. They had gotten into a verbal altercation before things got physical, the young man originally alleged. Police interviewed multiple people, however, who witnessed the incident and said the straphanger was the aggressor. Video obtained by police allegedly shows him spitting at subway riders when the suspects

Chesapeake—One man died and nine others were injured when gunfire erupted at a block party Saturday in the Holly Cove neighborhood, making it one of the city's most violent incidents in the past several years. Nearly 24 hours later, police still have not identified any suspects or revealed what led to the shooting near the Portsmouth border. None of the nine other gunshot victims face life-threatening injuries, though the situation remained fluid on Sunday, police spokesman Leo Kosinski said.(Snip) "I am shocked," Mayor Rick West said when he learned of the shooting. “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” is in hot water over an outfit choice made by a guest performer. British musician Morrissey appeared on the NBC late-night talk show to perform—and he took the stage wearing a far-right pin on his lapel. The pin featured the logo of the anti-Islam For Britain political party. Morrissey, once the frontman of The Smiths, has openly supported the party since 2018. “I have been following a new party called For Britain which is led by Anne Marie Waters. Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is worth $37billion (£28billion) and flies to 370 destinations on six continents with state-of-the-art aircraft. Truly, it’s a titan of aviation. But it started life as a crop-dusting outfit in 1924. And when it expanded to passenger transportation it used planes that could only hit 90mph, with the wind behind them. Delta has been on quite a journey, then—and these fascinating pictures illustrate the carrier’s dramatic transformation over the decades. They show some of its earliest passenger planes, a restored 1931 model with five passenger seats, a 1940 Douglas DC-3,

Mr. Sanders said his agents are now spending more time changing diapers, driving migrants and providing medical care for families and children than they are spending out in the field on patrol. The marriages were short and not for love. But instead of a Las Vegas-style, alcohol-fueled ceremony, these marriages were criminal schemes. Authorities announced Monday that nearly 100 people have been indicted in a massive conspiracy in which immigrants paid as much as $70,000 to briefly marry a U.S. citizen and obtain a permanent resident card known as a “Green Card.” The indictment, returned by a grand jury in Texas late last month, accuses 96 people of taking part in the Houston-based criminal organization, which created sham marriages between legal U.S. residents and aliens, mostly from Vietnam, for years.

Robert Mueller’s 11 AM statement to the media today stuck to what was in his report (which he said “speaks for itself”), but selectively highlighted and sequenced points intended to damage President Trump, providing obvious bait for impeachment proceedings. . Here is one example: …if we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so. We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime. It is not the job of prosecutors to state that a suspect “clearly did not commit a crime,”

It is tempting for normal people to ignore our president when he starts ranting about treason and corruption at the FBI. I understand the temptation. I’m the object of many of his rants, and even I try to ignore him. But we shouldn’t, because millions of good people believe what a president of the United States says. In normal times, that’s healthy. But not now, when the president is a liar who doesn’t care what damage he does to vital institutions. We must call out his lies that the FBI was corrupt and committed treason, that we spied on the Trump campaign and tried to defeat Donald Trump.

The New York Times has made waves with a new report on sightings by U.S. Navy aviators of unidentified flying objects between 2014 and 2015. But the UFO issue, which follows a similar 2017 story, is far more interesting than the reporters let on. The U.S. government does not know what these UFOs actually are. The report focuses on witnesses of so-called "Tic Tacs," but other shapes and sizes of UFOs have also been credibly recorded by the U.S., British, Chinese, Russian, and other governments for the past 65 years. But what are these strange things? Most informed individuals I have talked to believe that the Tic Tac-like UFOs are unmanned vehicles

Catholic priests in California would be legally obligated to report to police sexual abuse confessions brought to them by fellow priests and other church employees if a bill quickly moving through the state legislature becomes law. Religious liberty advocates, including representatives of Catholic dioceses in California, challenge the legislation, saying it would invade a sacred space and direct priests to violate the “seal of confession.” “Sometimes the best intentions can lead to bad legislation,” Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez said in a statement on California’s Senate Bill 360, which was approved by wide margins last week and now heads to the state Assembly.
