Democrat presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg took a swipe at President Donald Trump while coming to the support NFL anthem protesters such as former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. On the heels of saying that Kaepernick has a right to protest against the U.S.A., Buttigieg took a swing at Trump for not serving in the military.(Video) “The way I feel about it is the flag that was on my shoulder when I served represented, among other things, our right to free speech,” the Navy veteran and long-shot candidate

The anthem kneelers were confused from the start-Kapernick's girlfriend manipulated him into doing this. Wanna wear socks with policemen depicted as pigs? That's what Kapernick is all about. Meanwhile, Buttigieg is pandering to his base by badmouthing Trump. Yawn.

Why did Buttigig serve in the military? Was it so he could brag about it in a run for President? Obama and Clinton never served (and Clinton actively dodged the draft). What does Buttigig have to say about that?

Both my late husband and I served. He was a marine and I was a WAVE(women weren't called sailors back then, lol). Does that mean that my voice is twice as important as Pete's?

I think it's time to dig up someone who actually served alongside Buttigieg in Afghanistan because his claims of serving as "driver" or "vehicle commander" for the transportation of troops and/or war materiel in an active war zone sound rather strange to me. It's hard for me to visualize the Navy tasking an officer in an intelligence billet with such menial tasks, which anyway, convoy security is usually done by Army personnel. I'm not saying he's exaggerating but it does sound unusual and I'd like to hear from someone who was there.

A fair analysis shows that voters do no choose a president based on military service. McCain and Dole lost by wide margins. Bush 41's service may have helped win in '88, but was no asset by '92. Jimmah Cahtah was in the service longer than Reagan, but that was a non-factor in his re-election. McGovern, a decorated war veteran, lost 49 states.

There are really some tone deaf people in the world. Do they ever look back at some of the things they say or do and think, "you know that was really stupid, I'll have to be more careful in the future".......... Somehow I don't think so.

Patriotism is the final refuge of a scoundrel. The entire democrat party and many republicans are scoundrels.

What a freaky looking dudette. Right up there with peewee herman. The picture on drudge for a few days was more than I could bear.
I guess the writers have to be very careful about references to "Mr. Buttgig" and/or "Mrs. Buttgig" where for another pol the reference might be to, eg, "Mr. Cruz" in the body of the article.
Was he born a buttgig (like butto was born to run, from, eg, DUIs) or did he take his husband's name? If not to the latter, is it because he was embarrassed (no pun intended), not legally married, or a liberated woman? Something else?
DimoKKKraps are very ambiguous.

Benedict Arnold served. Ben Franklin didn't. Colon Sackofcrap has every right to free speech. But not while wearing the uniform as a football player on the field. In street clothes standing on a soap box he can spout off about saving the whales or whatever is floating in his minuscule mind. Free speech is something you don on your own time. Not your employer.

I’m sure Trump is crushed that the mayor of Podunk is criticizing him. Open borders, infantacide and kneeling for the national anthem are very popular policies with the mainstream. At least that’s what his husband told him.

Don't tell me that Buttgig thinks that a rising high school freshman should have been drafted. South Bend's mayor alleges to have served in US Navy Intelligence. That would have been under the all volunteer mandate. The draft was still active when Trump was high school/college age. He may have gotten a deferment like William Jefferson Clinton did.. So, did Buttgig make a fuss over Obama's military experience? The only HS graduation class I had any direct experience with was in 1960. Several classmates served in Viet Nam and died there. Buttgig is guilty of deceased equine abuse. (Don't forget that Jimmy Earl Carter and JFK served in the Navy also. That was before I knew the difference between liberal and conservative.)

Whatever happened with the Selective Service laws (the draft) and individuals who would have been subject to the draft during that time period is a non-issue as a liberal Democrat President, Jimmy Carter, granted an across the board presidential pardon to all individuals who or whatever reason did not comply with the Selective Service laws

The military has certain requirements and one of them is that recruits do not have bone spurs, which Trump had. That is 4F territory. He went to a military prep school though, saw a photo of him on his graduation day with his folks. He rocks a uniform. Buttabing is descending into total fool territory, every single time he opens his mouth. All he has is attacking Trump and Christians and their Faith.
Isn't South Bend where the Christian symbol covering for muslim Obama university of Notre Dame is located?

I ran a physical examination department at Donaldson AFB in S.C. in 1961-62, and we processed Army and Air Force reservists called to active duty by JFK, first for the Berlin mess, then for duty in Viet Nam. Early in JFK's presidency, he met with Krushchev in Europe, and Krushchev mocked JFK as a kid.
So JFK did some stupid things to look tough, Viet Nam escalation being the worst.
What is my point? Heel spurs made GIs unacceptable for military service and disqualified them. Heel spurs, at the time, were difficult to treat, and kept GIs off their feet.
I'm tired of hearing about DJTs heel spurs - it is a phony issue.
