After receiving a record amount of snow for May, Mammoth Mountain on Friday announced it would be extending its ski and snowboard season into August. With one week left in the month, Mammoth has already received 29 inches of snow, the most ever recorded in the month of May. The total beats the previous record of 28 inches, set in May 2015. The latest storm brought an additional 9 to 10 inches of snow to the snow, including another three inches in the past 24 hours.

The sunspot numbers have been decreasing each eleven year sunspot cycle for at least three,
maybe four cycles. Low sunspot activity is associated with colder weather patterns on
planet Earth.
This is natural solar variation, and - of course-, has absolutely nothing to do with SUVs,
CO2, the Paris Deal, or anything else human have done or will do.
The weather varies. We are passengers on this train.

Used to live in Mammoth. Loved the long winters. I am hoping they will stay open thru the end of September when I have to go to Ca for a business meeting, so I can go boarding. Pray for more snow đđ

As an older skier, I find this news AWESOME DUDE! I remember Warren Miller's film "Endless Winter" where hardcore professional skiers would follow the winter from the Northern to the Southern hemisphere, skiing in the Rockies then Tasman Glacier in New Zealand. Having Mammoth still open in AUGUST is just wonderful, IMHO.

I had to give up skiing about 10 years ago, concerned that if I had a really
bad fall (never have had one) my old accident damaged knee won't deal with
it well. I wanted to save the remaining capability there for walking.

Here in the Midwest, the farmers arenât plowing because of the continual rain and the very cool temperatures. The loss of crops is going to have a huge impact, unlike Al Goreâs predictions.

The Old Man still loves California even though a significant percentage of His crown of creation hates us.

I learned to ski at Mammoth in January 1979 on a high school midsession winter break trip (from San Diego). It was horribly icy with little pack. But, I had a great time with my friends. Havenât skied since but good times. Love this weather but itâs killing my tomato plants! Hot flashes appreciate cooler weather. I gave birth to my precious son 25 years ago tomorrow...and it was hotter than Hades. Cooler is better. Just say âyesâ to extended ski seasons in CA.

#5, I had dinner with a farmer friend this evening. He plants winter wheat to hold soil from erosion and
for cattle to graze on, then cuts it early for hay, and plants soybeans in the stubble. No till agriculture.
This year it looks like he'll be better off leaving the wheat to grow to maturity and have a wheat crop
in late June rather than a soybean crop in Sept or Oct. The weather rules and this year it has been
way too wet to get into the fields so far for many around here.

Enjoy it for now. The flooding of California will begin any day now as the snow melts and the Climate Change Cult will be screaming again that warming is destroying the planet.
