What are the odds that the Durham investigation is for real and will bring the bad actors to justice?

Following the disclosure that US Attorney John Durham has been tasked with investigating and prosecuting potential crimes in the origin of the Russia Hoax, we learned some very encouraging facts that suggest the Russia Hoax will be fully aired and miscreants brought to justice. Like Howie Carr, who had a front-row seat when John Durham went after corruption in the FBI Boston office, I am “cautiously optimistic” (Howie’s term) (snip) at least 7 months before his role was revealed, and months before William Barr took office, Durham was on the case.

Low. Being a swamp-critter is a complete defense against any prosecution.

Zero to None
Does anyone believe lawyers can solve this problem? They can argue both sides of any issue for a fee! They have created their own reputation! Good intentions until there are $$’s involved!
Pick 10 people off the street and the odds of getting to the bottom of this are far better!

Start with Hillary, and I´ll believe it. Cherry plucking sacrificial lambs and dancing around the real culprits doesn´t make me feel warm and fuzzy about my government.

In my opinion Dems are corrupt, but the repubs are incompetent so the repubs will do something to let the criminals get away with this.

I have conditional trust in these two. They are our last best hope in the official sense to see justice done. In the words of PDT, what the hell do we have to lose?

On the chance that rule of law is still here, the odds are ok that the investigation is for real.
However, a whole lot of dims and some pubbies will go down so expect the deep state to launch a full frontal assault to stop the investigation and not even allow a few useful idiots to be imprisoned.

Durham appointed by Baker and we expect the truth? Ha! Double Ha!
I will believe it, when this trail includes the head of the snake beyond CIA, FBI and NSA.

DiGenova claims Brennan, Comey, and Clapper are going down. Grand juries have already been hearing evidence. They didn´t wait for the IG report to come out officially, the already know what´s in it.

Not holding my breath either. Hasn’t the IG’s report been “expected to drop in 2-3 weeks” for months now?

Even a sober-minded man of integrity like William Barr might be persuaded that the harm to public trust in our system would be too profound...
Are you kidding me? That train left the station a long time ago. What we have to work on now is damage control and make sure that the fires of treason don´t spread any further than they already have. The faith of the people of this country would be far more damaged if NOBODY goes to prison than if they do. The tree of liberty needs some watering and the world needs to see it and know that our system is strong and resilient.

The most encouraging bit of recon on Durham is that he outed Mueller for knowingly letting four innocent people rot in jail. Mueller is a dirty cop and Durham knows it. A very good sign.
But that wheezing sound you hear is me still breathing.

The swamp will fight back. The question is, are there people in our country beyond President Trump that are willing to fight them.
And I´m not sure there is. But I hope I am wrong.

To #10´s point about grand juries already hearing some of this evidence, I was pleased to see Joe DiGenova say that the grand juries hearing evidence were in Connecticut. While Connecticut is obviously a blue state, it seems like a way better venue for an indictment than the District of Columbia.
AG Barr has credibility, and I´d like to believe Joe and Victoria, also.

spying.
FTA: A second serious implication of all of this is that when Barr was recruited to become AG for the second time, he knew that Durham already was at work on busting open at a minimum the collusion between FBI senior officials and media figures to perpetrate the Russia hoax on the public and lead to the appointment of a special counsel via the resulting public pressure.
[bold emphasis mine]
I agree with Thomas Lifson that AG Barr knew the venom he was up against when he stepped away from his prestigious and lucrative private position and went into this "snake pit".
WTP have our own part in this fight for the future of our constitutional republic. We have seen "public pressure" used for evil far too often over the past fifty, or so, years. If we who are hoping for good are only standing back and voicing skepticism and criticism of those who are sacrificing to try and restore this republic, exactly what and whom does that help? I´d say it helps those who want them stopped and want public pressure against them.
I trust in God and the power of prayer. These men need our encouragement, support and prayers. WTP taking a public stand for what is right is the kind of "public pressure" that harms what is wrong.
2 Chronicles 7:14 "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
We have to work as hard, and harder, for good as others work against it.

We need to all say a prayer that we have a few men and women who are actually still dedicated to the laws and the Constitution and will actually clean house and put these criminal coup plotters in prison.
I like the precedent that the FBI agent who was convicted in the Bulger case got 40 years. I´d love to see Comey, Brennan, Clapper and especially Strzok get 40 years, and a host of other criminal bureaucrats.

The question from me is whether some of these people being investigated (including the high rollers) will be willing to face 20-30 years in prison to protect the deep state. Or, will they flip for a better deal?
The prospect of long-term imprisonment, especially at their ages, is a consideration that will not be taken lightly.
Like a cancer, this is not something that can be eradicated quickly or easily. Unlike some cancer it can be successfully eradicated.
Patience is difficult to suffer, but the criminals are smart, cunning people. The process of investigating, prosecuting and convicting must be done correctly in every way, or they will walk. Slow, but sure.

The kind of crimes committed by the previous administration merited hangings and firing squads in the past. Treason was committed, ihave no doubtof that, and neither does anyone reading the Lucienne blog. Seeing is believing-when justice happens then we´ll believe it.

#24 beat me to it. I was about to quote the same paragraph.
Agree with Lifson –there would seem to be no reason for Barr to have taken on the job of AG [again], unless he were dead serious about restoring integrity at DOJ and FBI.

I agree with #12 that public trust in our Justice Department is already on the line. Further, if a large number of offenders are not made examples of by being sentenced to hard time, the next abuse of these institutions will be even more egregious - and likely irredeemable.

This is a huge scandal. They have to investigate and deal with a lot of people. They have to have their ducks in a row. They have to make sure the charges are accurate and will hold up in court. This will take time to get it all right, without mistakes, imo. Be patient

They tried to destroy Trump.
They tried to destroy his family.
Does anyone think Trump is the forgiving kind?
Does anyone think these people confronted with the consequences of their actions are the "Stand-up" kind?
Part of building is to destroy what is already there.
Trump knows that.
For dem it will be interesting times.
Keep the Faith.

Makes the point that Durham was working in secret months before Barr took office, and Barr would have had to know this when he accepted the job. This makes is unlikely that Barr wants anything less than a full airing of the scandals and reform of the corruption int he DoJ and FBI
