About a dozen activists with two gun-control advocacy groups dropped off a stack of papers with 13,000 signatures at Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office Tuesday as they urged him to veto a bill that would allow armed classroom teachers. Emma Hanley, a Tallahassee high-school junior who volunteers with Students Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, asked a DeSantis employee to tell the governor to veto the bill (SB 7070) because of a “dangerous provision” that would expand the school “guardian” program. The Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America also took part in dropping off the

Is this a list of 13,000 volunteers who be happy to patrol the schools and protect students from danger? Or is this a list of 13,000 virtuge-signalling a-holes who want "the authorities" to handle the job? If I were DeSantis I´d send each and every person who signed this a reminder of just how good a job Scot Peterson did protecting the Parkland students.

Yeah, let´s disarm the schools so they are easy targets, then when the attack comes we can try to disarm all law abiding citizens.

When the Broward County sheriff deputies run, rather than protect, it is time for reasonable people to seek another viable means of protection for school pupils.
I am glad I live in a state and county where about 40% of the population has a carrying permit and the associated carry item.

I seirously doubt that DeSantis would veto this bill.
The hoplophobes are stuck on stupid. They imagine guns as totems, items with some magical, intrinsic, evil power to control and influence people. The u
´useful idiots´ of the group are literally insane, completely irrational on the topic. And the cynical, totalitarian antigun leadership is desperate to disarm the public, and tries very hard to prevent any beneficial uses of guns because it interferes with their efforts to get all guns confiscated.
A firearm is a tool, no different than a hammer, screwdriver, axe or chainsaw. Each can be a fairly efficient murder weapon in the hands of an evil person, but can also build and repair in the hands of a good person. It is our guarantor of our freedom, if we use them well.
I could put a hammer and a screwdriver in a tool bag and they wouldn´t be bothered by them. Some might be bothered by the axe, perhaps by a chainsaw, depending on context.
But they lose control at the thought of a gun, a really efficient tool of deterrence and defense when used by a good person.

I am unaware of any study of armed teachers in classrooms. Under a Democrat guided Department of Education, I know of no school district in the U.S. that has armed teachers that could be the basis of such a study.
Foreign example, such as Israel. Or some third world countries under similar threats of violence by known sources (terrorist groups) might not provide a valid example, as they are essentially in a state of war.

So what documentation do you have regarding the risks of arming teachers there Mr. Valimont?
I bet I could find a passel of expert speculation and studies of opinion. Unless the study was done in Israel I can´t see how it could be fact based.
Nobody took a school district, passed out firearms to teachers in half of the schools and not in a control group of the other schools. Besides that isn´t how a rational "common sense" approach would look.
I can think of teachers I had who shouldn´t have been trusted with pointy scissors but I can also point to teachers I had who were trusted with firearms to fight the Axis powers.

#5, many states permit some form of legal adult concealed weapons carry in some schools. Exactly which schools and which adults and what added requirements (such as extra training) gets into many variations.

Number 7, could not access your listed article. But I ask if it is advertised the teachers are armed? And even without that, how many mass shootings are found in the areas, indicated?
From what I´ve seen, these school shooters are almost exclusively loner, liberal, and grudge-bearing. You dont see traditional kids doing this crap. And those states who allow teacher-carry, are generally also traditional American States, value-wise, I bet.
The real problem seems to be the leftist philosophy coupled with immaturity. When I was young, STUDENTS brought their guns to school, if they planned to hunt, afterwards, or use the school target range. They got on the bus, chatted amiably with everyone, went straight to the principal´s office, where he secured the guns and ammunition, and picked them up at the end of the day.
If you were angry at someone, you used your fists, openly, or got a teacher to referee the argument.
The few ´school shooters´ and their ilk, even back then, were primarily, leftist with an issue.

Children activists are involved, natch. Hoplophobia is rampant, yet the only effective protection against a hostile gunman loose in a school is armed staff and faculty, all of whom should be well trained before they become armed guardians.
