He’s getting to write his wrong. A Brooklyn gangbanger got busted with a loaded, stolen revolver in a caught-on-video incident — but a softie judge cut him loose with little more than a homework assignment, The Post has learned. Judge Ellen Edwards rejected a prosecution request to set bail at $25,000 for Ismail Abraham, 18, following his arrest in East New York, law-enforcement sources said on Friday. Instead, Edwards gave Abraham an 8 p.m. curfew and told him to compose a “report on gun violence in the community,” sources said. It was unclear how many pages Abraham has to write,

Require it be written in cursive and I’ll take it seriously.

Will probably have to attend tutoring first. Doubt that he writes above 3rd or 4th grade level and can´t formulate a cohesive paragraph. Never mind that his vocabulary is mostly limited to so much slang that only fellow gang members can understand it.

Does any one wonder why police are frustrated? Build a solid case, convince a DA to take it and then after being found guilty...handed a writing assignment. What a joke!

The judge is a black female Democrat. New to the bench.
FTA:
Abraham is a member of the “G Stone Crips” and has four prior arrests that are sealed, including two for gun possession during the past year, sources said.
“It just goes to show you how out of touch these judges are,” said a retired NYPD detective who formerly worked in the high-crime neighborhood.
“She should have to sit in jail until he finishes the report. She probably won’t have to make plans for a long time.”
Ismael is probably still laughing about this with his gang homies as they get ready for their next job...

This is nuts, our legal and Justice system is broken far beyond repair. Survival crimes, stolen property valued under $750.00 are not to be prosecuted, shop lifting losses to be picked up by the consumer, gangs wilding with no consequences etc., etc. Early release of violent criminals, token punishment for conspiracy to commit murder and battering we see it every day. This is what a hundred years of liberalism brings. We are now standing at the brink of vigilantism for our own protection. It may just have to happen and happen fast if our legislators do not grow a spine and come down with draconian laws and punishment and those sworn to uphold the law do not start doing their jobs.

How do we get judges this fundamentally unrealistic on the bench? Is this soft headedness?
Looks like another case of ´racial justice´? - We blacks can´t be putting black folks in jail just because they be breaking some white man´s laws! The punk had two prior arrests for gun possession in the last year alone. This is not some good boy who accidentally made a tiny mistake.
Looks like race is the key decider, pure and simple. If it had been a white kid, probably throw the book at him.
Just watch, soon enough, he will have murdered someone and this idiot judge will tell us how surprised and disappointed she is. But some person will be dead because she is a horrible judge.
I wonder who he will get to write it for him? Probably illiterate, too.

OMG, this is like a scene from "The Three Amigos" come to life, where fastidious amigo Steve Martin haplessly falls into brutal El Guapo´s gang´s hands and proceeds to read them their rights as he tries to arrest them for their misdeeds.

I´m guessing Judge Ellen Edwards lives in a nice gated community or high security high rise condo, and doesn´t have to worry about Ismail Abraham shooting her or her kids in his next drive by!!!!!
I truly hope the next person he shoots sues this bogus judge for millions!!!!!

This will be a turning point, not only in the young man´s life, but in American correctional procedure. Why has no one thought of this before?

Turn in a black piece of paper, claim fascists redacted all the truth he laid out, reap rewards of some outrageous fashion.

All true enough #´s 6 & 7, but as we all know rot (of the social variety, in this case) is a pervasive process.
As liberalism destroyed the nuclear family, trivialized the concept of personal responsibility and created a culture of excuse and victimhood scenarios like this one became inevitable.

This is remarkably good news. Apparently they found an eighteen year old New York educated person who can presumably read and write. At least, as well as the Judge.

And then there are those law abiding citizens from out of state going through a New York airport, when security finds in their luggage an unloaded 12 round magazine. That person will go to jail and have a huge fine imposed.

This is the kind of outrageous stuff that prompted Bernard Goetz--remember him--to "illegally" arm himself and shoot some gang of muggers when they accosted him on a NYC subway. Not advocating that sort of thing, but just saying this is like going back to the 60´s and 70´s before mandatory sentencing was forced on judges. Looks like mandatory prosecution will also have to be forced on states´ attorneys, too.
Better yet, add in Constitutional carry so the law abiding can legally defend themselves against the world´s over supply of thugs.

Stay after school and write "Guns are dangerous in the hands of dangerous people." 500 times on the chalkboard. Then do 100 pushups 100 jumping jacks and take 4 laps around the track.

The same judge is probably a lefty gun control advocate. Yet when faced with a real chance to help reduce gun crime, she let´s him go. As one poster said it´s only a matter of time before he kills someone.

It’s obvious this judge is beyond ignorant and just plain unqualified to sit in judgement of others. She probably has a storefront law degree, and bis friendly to some machine Brooklyn pol she campaigned for. She should be removed from the bench at the earliest possible moment.

These Judges in NY make up their own laws. It all depends on color! Also there is a lot of Jury Nullification going on, that´s why crime is up in NY
