San Francisco Mayor London Breed was heckled and jeered during a raucous community meeting Wednesday to discuss a controversial homeless center proposal along the city’s waterfront that has attracted dueling online fundraisers from critics and supporters. “Homelessness is the number one problem that we face in our city. You cannot be upset about homelessness and then when I propose a real solution, then you’re upset about it,” Breed said while trying to discuss plans to build a 200-bed Homeless Navigation Center in the city’s Embarcadero section. The area is part of California’s 12th Congressional District, represented by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

They need to add many more beds for all those poor souls that are homeless. I know that Nancy would support it. Just think of the atmosphere it would provide if there were 500 homeless wandering around in the neighborhood!

What is Pelosi´s position on this homeless facility?
Surely she must support it.
Perhaps she could forsake her transcontinental flights at taxpayer expense to help pay for this homeless shelter and others in her district.

Great photo op location to showcase the dregs of society. It will be the greatest thing SF can do to utterly destroy itself and drive tourists away as well as residents. Build it and they will come from all over the country. The center point destination for hookers drug dealers pan handlers alcoholics bums and scum. Just do it. Now.

There are a lot of hotels in San Francisco that many of us won´t use because we do not like to wade through feces and needles. Can´t the homeless stay there?

Pelsi won’t touch this one. Too many wealthy donors complaining. It doesn’t matter anyway. SF is finished as a tourist destination.

SF has a long way to go before it is "finished". I was in this area and had to park further than I expected on my way to meeting. I asked at least 12 people walking by me on the street if they knew where a street was, and they all did not live here. They all were visitors. Hotels still sell out in this area often and have many conferences and events.
This location they want to build a homeless/drug addict center for is the worst possible location I can think of. Boneheaded move.

Homelessness is number one? How about high taxes, crime, affordable housing? Seems they have their priorities wrong. Maybe they should give all those people $15/hr. jobs and then they wouldn´t have homelessness. Better yet, raise the price of the gas tax another $2/gal. and then pay them $30/hr. Why not? LOL!

She needs more dems in her district. Go for it, Nance! Be a BIG sponsor of this center and they will name it after YOU. Win-Win!

How about a few busloads of "undocumented citizens" from the southern border joining the homeless?

Pelosi’s Napa Valley grape farm would make a nice long-term camp site for San Fransisco’s addicted homeless. Someone should suggest it to her with cameras rolling.

SF´s city "government" wants to plink down a 200-bed homeless shelter in a busy low-crime area that has commuters and tourists, surrounded by big-bucks condos with a waterfront view.
Homeless shelter beds in SF are not fully utilized because many of SF´s homeless don´t want to be told they can´t use drugs, booze, or rape other people in the centers.
They figure public "bodily functions" are protected as "free speech" in SF, so why can´t they shoot drugs, drink, and rape people too?
Putting this center THERE is just another way to ruin safe neighborhoods that people paid big bucks to live in. Stickin´ it to the man, Obama-style.

Great idea #18. I´m told there is an island on the bay that has some really sturdy uninhabited structures the are begging to be used.

The libs were always wanting to put section 8 housing in middle class residential neighborhoods because it would give these poor folks some self esteem. Think how much self-esteem they would get living next door to Nancy. Another great location would be in Mad Maxines neighborhood.
