Monday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Mayor Pete Buttigieg supported the idea of a wealth tax, arguing that “some people” were not paying their”fair share.” When asked if he would repeal the Trump tax cuts, Buttigieg said, “Yes, at least the tax cuts on the wealthiest because that has blown a huge hole in the treasury that my generation is going to be forced to pay. We’re going to have to pay for it probably in the form of reduced services if we don’t come up with revenue. There’s no need for some of these giveaways to

I think he wants to take 80% of everyone´s wealth -- it´s vastly worse than 80% of earnings, if you can believe it.
He´s not going anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Actually, "fair share" to a liberal is always more than someone pays now. No liberal has ever answered the question, "How much is enough?"

The hole in the budget is increased expenditures, not reduced fed income.

This on top of Pete CROWING that he raised $7,000,000 this quarter. It´s not that they aren´t paying their fair share. It´s that they aren´t paying their fair share TO HIM.

Bingo #4. It is not a revenue problem.
Give these big spenders every dime they think they need and it would STILL not be enough. That story has played out time again throughout history.

And to add to the already great comments here, the 80% (or whatever other number they come up with) always means EVERYONE else´s money and NOT the person who is screeching the loudest about it!
I always want to tell these people: You first, buddy! Whenever I see YOU regularly giving up 80-90% of YOUR income, I´ll think about what you have to say. Until then, SHUT UP!

Sounds to me like another who doesn´t understand they are pushing the concept of double taxation. People who are wealthy and living off investment capital already paid taxes on that money. Plenty of taxes.
The most cherished wish of socialists in congress is to turn that class envy into real anger and hatred towards productive people. Meanwhile they push and exploit the ignorance of people regarding who things actually work in our country´s government.

I´m ashamed to say, this idiot´s family and mine, hail from the same small island.
His father was always a Marxist loving supporter, and while his son claims to be a ´capitalist,´ it´s simply not true.

So true, more than half of the people pay nothing and many of those get a check for doing nothing. I say everyone should pay the same.

I see it as people have many options with their money. They can provide for their needs, save money and help others as they choose.
It´s too much freedom for some people.

As an aside, in Massachusetts Allow taxpayers to pay their taxes at a higher rate if they choose to do so.
The local Pols screaming to tax everyone never seem to take advantage of a higher tax rate on their earnings.

Buttjug apparently doesn´t realize the top 1% pays almost 40% of all taxes collected.
45% of Americans pay no federal income tax, and it ain´t the rich.

I still can´t see most blue collar Dems and Hispanic males voting for a gay man...yet. Trump still has their votes. But you can bet the Dems are grooming this guy for 2024 and beyond.

You know what I consider to be the only "class" of people who don´t pay their "fair share" of taxes??
The bottom 50% of income earners who combined pay less than 3% of taxes paid...and many of them qualify for EITC...they get refundable credits for taxes they don´t even pay!!
If they deserve welfare, and they need this "extra" amount of money, then give them higher welfare payments, but stop the farce that is Earned Income Tax Credits!!
