A man was arrested Friday for throwing a glass of water in the face of controversial Rep. Steve King at a local restaurant, police said. Blake Gibbins, 26, allegedly approached King while he was eating lunch at Mineral City Mill and Grill restaurant in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He asked King if he was the congressman and then threw a glass of water on him, Fort Dodge police said in a press release. The release says others were also hit by the water, but no one was injured. Gibbins was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor simple assault

Why are LGBTQ people always so angry? I am betting the water thrower was a perpetually aggrieved homosexual.

Anytime someone violates my space with an object of any sort is considered an assault. I would sue the living h3ll out of him and press charges.

I expect more of this during and after the 2020 election.
King needs a staffer who is strong enough and tough enough to beat the snot out of such assailants.
Or perhaps Iowa and other states should elect Henry Clay kinds of representatives. (My representative is Mike Kelly, former football player, bad knee but still tough as nails. I doubt anyone will mess with him.)

King was purposely misquoted in his white supremacy comments by the way. And what is the crime in recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the white race (while in no way denigrating those peoples whose accomplishments are less obvious)?

Misdemeanor assault? Well, since we now know that you can beat a Senator into intensive care in his yard and only get 30 days, and throw water on a Congressman and get charged with a misdemeanor, I´d like to know what the penalties are if I defend myself accordingly.
Can I, for example, shoot people who throw water on me? Do I get community service if I do? Can I drive my car over demonstrators who obstruct and threaten me on public roads? Would that mean probation?
As Butch Cassidy said in the movie, before we fight, we need to agree on the rules.
In the meantime, and this is a very mean time, Americans could do worse than to follow the Malcolm X rule:
"Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery."

How does a victim know that a clear liquid about to be tossed in his/her face isn´t hydrochloric acid, which would cause serious bodily injury, including blindness and disfigurement? I bring that up as a justification for the use of deadly force in states that have rational self-defese laws, when in reasonable fear of serious bodily injury, to prevent the consequences of the unlawful act, even if it turns out that the liquid was tap water.
