Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez´s "unfavorable" rating has skyrocketed now that she has become more well-known, according to a new poll from left-leaning Gallup. (Video) The poll, released on Friday, found that the increase in Ocasio-Cortez´s "unfavorable" rating in recent months has more than doubled her increase in "favorable ratings." "Half of U.S. adults were unfamiliar with or had no opinion of her in September after her seismic primary win over the summer, but that figure has shrunk to 29% today," Gallup reported. "But the increased visibility has not improved her overall standing with Americans." In September, Ocasio-Cortez´s "favorable" vs "unfavorable"

Her unfavorable rating will be meaningless unless it is reflected in her Congressional district. One can hope people are recognizing her for the crackpot she is, but don´t count on it. Her election was most likely a reflection of our lefty education system, and any negative reporting on AOC probably did not change anything there.

I wonder when her family began hyphenating their names, and why they did so. In just the last five years so many surnames of Hispanics are hyphenated (including those of illegal aliens committing crimes---it´s not just the upper crust). I realize the thing about mother´s maiden names being used by Hispanics, who hyphenate them with father´s surname. But that is an old, old custom. This new increase in hyphenation is recent.

#27: It´s the custom in most Spanish-speaking countries for children to have two last names: the father´s followed by the mother´s. The father´s last name is the family name; the mother´s last name is not passed on to the third generation. Francisco Castro Botiller married Maria Gabriela Berrellezza Peralta. They had a son named Victor Ramon. His full name was Victor Ramon Castro Berrellezza. His wife was Maria Luisa Martinez Arrellanes. Their son Patricio Juan´s full name was Patricio Juan Castro Martinez. And so forth. A Spanish individual´s name is a two-generation genealogy. Back in the 1700´s they (or at least the nobiity) included the great grandfathers´ last names too, as in Ricardo Lopez Vallejo y Ramos Garza.
Note that they don´t use hyphens in their names. The hyphenation is probably a feminist thing. IMO Occasional-Cortex is trying to be a multi-culti feminist.

CNN’s chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta on Thursday misquoted a portion of President Donald Trump’s immigration speech and was quickly met with a fact-check by a Breitbart News reporter. Speaking in the Rose Garden, President Donald Trump unveiled immigration reform proposals aimed at increasing the quota for skilled workers. During his remarks, the president assailed some asylum seekers’ abuses of the country’s immigration system. “Our nation has a proud history of affording protection to those fleeing government persecutions. Unfortunately, legitimate asylum seekers are being displaced by those lodging frivolous claims,” he said. Acosta promptly accused the president of portraying

The new system will use 15 different factors to weigh a student´s adversity score, based on things such as the crime and poverty rates in the neighborhood where the teens grew up. It’s all a show, meant to keep old news in the headlines, and to appease the large “Impeach Now!” wing of the Democratic Party without actually doing anything. Everyone on Judiciary knows perfectly well that Congress can’t compel testimony from top presidential advisers except in the most extraordinary circumstances: The chief executive’s right to frank, confidential discussions with his staff is well-established.
