News Fatigue? Join the Club
Investor´s Business Daily, by Bob Maistros

Original Article

I´m tired. Done in by network and cable news alike. Fried from frequenting online publications and opinion sites. Pooped in perusing breathless alerts on my devices. I´ve had it. And I´m not alone. A Pew Research study recently found that nearly 7 in 10 Americans suffer from "news fatigue" — a phenomenon even more pervasive among Republicans. The survey focused on the volume as much as the quality of the offerings. But why wouldn´t the public be emotionally expended from the anger and accusations, bullying and backbiting, "fake news" and "fact checks," insults and innuendo, posturing and protests, threats and trolling, and virtue-signaling and violent rhetoric

The hardest thing to find is facts. If your looking for someone to tell you what to think, that is easy. If you know how to think then you require facts and that is not so easy.

Count me in with the "News Fatigue". I´m tired of the MSM´s Trump Derangement Syndrome. Trump failed kindergarten, Trump walks on water . . . surely he can´t swim, or whatever is the manufactured slam of Trump de jour´s meme of the MSM is tiring, and has long since grown very old. I have turned them off, they are not changing my mind, and I dare say, they´re not changing many common sense people´s mind either.

I´m with #1. Don´t tell me what you think; just give me the facts and let me decide for myself. It´s called overkill on trashing Pres. Trump. We are tired of it. He is doing a great job and that is hard to do considering how mean and disgusting the MSM has been. Sorry, but that kind of reporting is a real turn off!

Totally agree. Much of what they push isn´t news. Its narratives (propaganda/lies) to influence public opinion so certain political agendas can move forward. They are ´using´ people. Refuse to be used. Turn off the talking heads. A place like Lucianne is an excellent alternative. Read the headlines, read a few articles that seem interesting. Nobody is preaching at me.

Completely, 100% agree as well. I long for the times when journalists reported who, what, where, when, why and how and left the decision-making to me.
I read what I need online and have taken to watching Shark Tank or Netflix rather than staring at the same group of talking heads spewing forth the same predictable sludge night after night. And I´m talking both sides here. Don´t kid yourself: They ALL have an agenda.
Why add another layer of stress to our lives?
I´m having great success with a recent strategy. When people start yapping politics (usually anti-Trumpers), I cut them off at the pass with a friendly but FIRM, " I´m sorry. I don´t discuss politics or religion." You´d be surprised at how many thumbs up I get from that. I really think normal, rational people have had enough and are turning away in droves.

I too am among those with "News Fatigue", and the writer clearly explains the leftist media´s tactics. Where he goes wrong, though * is in assessing PDT´s role in contributing to the poisonous atmosphere.

By now it should be clear to Mr. Maistros and every other balanced observer that the left´s relentless war on our culture, institutions and laws would be carried on vigorously against ANY Republican president, no matter how "moderate" or accommodating he might be. George W. ("We´ve gotta change the tone") Bush serves as the example.

So along comes the first "shock jock" president to effectively stand up to the leftists and in the process forces them to reveal the true depth of their rage. That approach may create more unpleasant fireworks in the near term, but changes nothing about the nature of the left and the threat it poses for the rest of us.

They have not become more extreme since Trump was elected, only more up front in expressing their extremism. Retreat into a good book isn´t going to change that.

I, too have news fatigue. I have also stayed away from Fox news. I catch a few shows on Fox Business. Other than that, I come here to Lucianne. Fox, with their take on the news
was wearing me out. Especially Hannity and Carlson. I understand they are "shows".
I would rather read and think rather than watch and listen to what others are telling me what they think I should know. It took me a while to wean myself away from watching "the news"
but I like this way so much better.

It´s not new, just watched an American Titans show on the battle between Hearst v. Pulitzer, and how much things are still the same.

Fox is certainly the best of a wearying lot, with Ingraham, Tucker, MaCallum quite watchable.
Hannity has facts, but I’ve heard his waiter, contractor, bartender, trash collector and probably auto repo man for all I knowhistory, With innumerable trips to the border. Plus, he has nightly eminent expert guests, asks a question, interrupts within a few seconds and thats the end of the expert. Exactly when the TV goes off.
Face it, liberals will not respond to reason, facts or logic, regardless of the evidence. You are better off and less stressed reading Lucianne discussions that get your attention. And limit it to fifteen minutes daily.

Money For Nothin´: Apparently not satisfied with the already disastrous condition of its finances, Chicago this week said it would like to experiment with a universal basic income, a socialist pipe-dream that pops up every few years as a "new" idea. It´s not. And it will never work. Chicago alderman Ameya Pawar has already proposed legislation that would give 1,000 families $500 a month. The bill looks like a shoo-in, garnering support already from a majority of the Windy City´s lawmakers. Pawar is reportedly already working on the design of the program with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Illegal Immigration: We´ve been seeing a lot of articles these days defending Democrats against charges that they are for open borders. But recent events show that the party has, in fact, morphed into one that reflexively opposes virtually any attempt to secure the southern border. For years, Democrats tried to portray themselves as tough on border security, even as they argued for amnesty for all illegal immigrants currently in the country. Sometimes they slipped, as Hillary Clinton did when, in a paid speech in 2013, she talked about her dream of open borders. (She quickly tried to explain away her comment,

Uncle Sam wants you — or at least your DNA. That´s the takeaway from the new "All of Us" research program at the National Institutes of Health. The initiative aims to collect electronic health records and DNA samples from at least one million Americans. Any person 18 or older is eligible to participate. Researchers hope the donated data will help them better understand diseases and develop more personalized treatments. This new effort is well-intentioned. But it could put donors´ privacy at risk. Whether donating samples to the federal government or sending in a cheek swab to a private testing outfit like 23andMe, there´s

Unfree Trade: In what has now become a tiresome routine, European Union "Competition Commissioner" Margrethe Vestager has once again slapped an American company with a massive fine for the heinous crime of out-competing EU companies. The EU complains about U.S. tariffs, but this move to punish Google with a $5 billion antitrust fine is straight up protectionism. "Stop this behavior," Vestager told the firm. What behavior is that? Giving consumers ever-more options for their tablets, phones and computers at a lower price? The fine, after all, is for "abusing the dominance of its Android mobile operating system." He says he’s skeptical that the politicians now seen as likely contenders in the 2020 presidential race can beat President Trump. The Democratic Party needs “a street fighter … someone that can give as good as they take,” he said. “Let us remember that

Extremist confrontations threatening Democrats today similarly ended their national dominance fifty years ago. What 1968´s Democratic Convention did in Chicago, current liberal activists are seeking to do nationwide by confronting Trump administration officials wherever they find them. Today´s Democratic establishment is right to fear that, just as half century ago, America´s broader electorate will be alienated by their party´s extreme left. Democrats´ 1968 Chicago convention was no accident, but it was assuredly a disaster. Before the word "resignation" became a euphemism for being fired, it connoted a sense of public integrity and personal honor. Attorney General Elliot Richardson and his deputy, William Ruckelshaus, showed both qualities when they resigned from the Nixon administration during the Saturday Night Massacre in 1973. Jimmy Carter’s secretary of state, Cyrus Vance, did likewise when he resigned during the Iran hostage crisis in 1980. Assuming Mike Pompeo and John Bolton still have their own senses intact, they, too, should resign following the epic disgrace of the U.S.-Russia summit inHelsinki on Monday.
