Romney calls for ‘disturbing’
family separations to stop

Washington Post, by Elise Viebeck

Republican Senate candidate Mitt Romney called on the Trump administration Monday to stop separating immigrant families at the southern border, calling the controversy a “humanitarian crisis” that requires Congress to devise a permanent solution. Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, declined to blame President Trump or the Department of Homeland Security specifically in remarks to a group of voters at a park here. He called images of children separated from their parents “pretty disturbing” and “heartbreaking.” “I think immediately we should go back to the setting where we’re not ripping children away from their parents, and then we expect Congress to take

For an highly educated person Romney shows a disturbing lack of ability to understand a situation and present a fair and reasonable analysis which could result in a solution.

Mitt - shut up and listen to YOUR President. He understands the problem and has presented the solution.

Mitt Romney is a moron. He parrots whatever party line the Democrats and Liberals need him to. Three years ago, Jeb Bush played a similarly idiotic role with his "act of love" speech.

I hope Mitt Romney soon joins Jeb on the political trash heap where both belong.

Romney should either shut up, or take his money down to the borderline and build Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn class accommodations at all the detention centers so that illegal aliens and their foreign born children caught sneaking across the borderline can have at least the same level of housing that they had in their home countries. THIS is why Romney lost to BO and why we don´t need him back in government. Romney´s statement is designed to be an attack. Yeah, it´s all passive aggressive so it´s not really clear but that´s what it is.

"we should go back to the setting where we’re not ripping children away from their parents"

What is that supposed to mean? Ripping? That´s a trigger word to evoke images of violence. That´s not what´s happening. The DHS secretary says that 5/6 of the "kids" that arrive do so WITHOUT their parents. That is, the parents ABANDON them and put them on a cattle car to the US ALL ALONE. We are left to pick up the pieces from an ABYSMALLY STUPID decision.

"Romney ... declined to blame President Trump or the Department of Homeland Security specifically"

Oh, how nice of Mitt to attack without attacking. The implied blame stinks up the room. Romney is too sleazy to step up and take responsibility for what he is doing. He is piling on and taking advantage of a partisan attack. He is a coward.

Also, there is no solution offered by Mitt the wise. What do we do with the 10,000 kids that came here by themselves? Let them loose in the Country? As soon as we do, another 20,000 will be on the border before we can blink.

Romney is a squishy fool.

The media is playing this up all out of proportion and that is why Utah should vote for him-already a national player for better or for worse. For others in anguish over his speech he said "I believe the right answers will be held with the administration and the Congress working together" Just what DHS was saying in presser this morning. Let the democrats in Congress change the laws they do not like.

Maybe a little more could be done for the disturbing family separations initiated by the parents 10,000 out of the 12,000 children held without parents.

Mitt does virtue signal like a democrat or any politician?

Someone needs to investigate who at the other end of this pipeline is encouraging and paying for these children to come to the border. This is clearly an organized effort. Who is behind it and why are we not looking into prosecuting any group that would support the breaking of our laws to undermine our government?
Romney and others like him seem not to care about our own citizens who are paying a steep price to shelter not to mention educate these abandoned children. And let us not think that parents who knowingly come to a place where their child will be taken from them is not abandoning them. The parents bear this responsibility and it should not fall on the citizens of the US to fund this fiasco.

Don´t these liberals remember they stood behind the "it takes a village" slogan. What happened? Oh, I get it - they need to be slamming President Trump.

I once supported the likes of John McCain, Mitt Romney, George W Bush but that has come to a screaming halt. All of these people wanted our support in spite of their faults. Yet, they cannot support Donald Trump. They were never Republicans in the first place; just people who said the right things.

Romney is a member in good standing alone with all the other RINO´s of the Communist democrat party as infiltrators among the conservative Christian republicans who stand for enforcement of our Constitution as written and the limited government it established.

The rest of the citizenry who support these RINO´s and Communist democrats are brainwashed into believing the Communism they espouse along with the blessed and sanctified immorality is best and fun.

It is only after having elected their fun government that they find they have chosen to return to slavery to those who control government and everything else as there can no descent from their chosen government once placed into power of total control of government over the people.

Media goes to Romney and headlines whip up the never-Romney anxiety needlessly. Fake news meet contrived views news.

He said nothing against the president but controversy sells papers and the journos look for it or create it.

Headline writers are paid for their ability to grab attention.

What other senatorial candidate does the leftist media find it so important to follow and distort their report? Not giving Mike Kennedy any free coverage. (So who IS Mike Kennedy or other states senatorial candidates?)

The dems have there 2018 election issue. Remember how they force GHWB into Somalia with pictures of fly faced babies - trying babies (They probably pinched them to get the tears?)

Mitt knows that the president´s power to get things done is important to the GOP party that he wants to save - we need a merging of man and machine= the president and the party establishment machine.

Everyone´s entitled to their own opinions, but they´re not entitled to their own facts. It is not anxiety that leads conservatives to reject Mitt Romney. It´s his track record and fact sheet.

Fact: Mitt Romney publicly opposed Donald Trump at every step of the nomination process.

Fact: Mitt Romney publicly denounced the nominee of his own party in the months before a crucial must-win election and privately attempted to enlist a third-party candidate to run against the Republican nominee of his own party

Fact: Mitt Romney is now seeking a Senate seat from a party whose leader he formally declared his unending opposition to.

Romney´s problem here isn´t "fake news." It´s that he is a fake conservative.

I´d say Mormons just make it up as they go but that would be unfair.

Romney asked for it and now he´s got it ~ if you bring your kids with you trying to cross the border unlawfully, you and your kids get their hearings RIGHT NOW ~ no waiting.

Then they get their conviction for illegal crossing when they´re young so that the next time they try it they get charged with a felony.

Romney is so sweet.

Man is the center in this equation, as there isn’t any power above him, resulting in a moral poverty searching for meaning. In days after this speech, the Fourth Estate accused Solzhenitsyn of “losing his balance,” of representing a “mind split apart.” He thought

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is going into the Supreme Court confirmation process with a hail of rhetorical arrows zinging by him, including a phony letter-writing campaign aimed at unsuspecting American newspaper editors. At least 21 papers were duped last week, including big-market brands like the Dallas Morning News and The Washington Times. They ran identical letters over a four-day period, each signed by a different person. The effort is an example of public-relations ´astroturfing,´ a technique meant to simulate genuine grassroots support for an idea or cause. The form letter is one small piece of the message minefield erupting around Kavanaugh

Former CIA Director John Brennan continued Tuesday to criticize President Trump’s performance at the Helsinki summit, saying Mr. Trump could have potentially risked intelligence capabilities during his private meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the intel community might begin to withhold intelligence from Mr. Trump. In light of Mr. Trump’s comments about the intelligence community, Mr. Brennan said “there very well might be” a shift in the covert community to “withhold vital intelligence” in order to protect that information. “Dan Coats and Gina Haspel need to be on top of their game now and speak truth to power,” he

Hillary Clinton loyalist Philippe Reines, who served as a senior State Department appointee under Clinton and later as campaign adviser for Clinton’s losing 2016 presidential bid, organized a protest at the White House Monday night timed for the return home around 9 p.m. EDT by President Donald Trump from his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland earlier Monday. Reines was joined at the protest by current Hillary political adviser Adam Parkhomenko, who said Trump-hating porn star attorney Michael Avenatti would be at the White House to protest Tuesday night. Reines posted video of himself holding an air

Democratic Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen on Monday called for the “military folks” to save America from President Donald Trump after Trump’s much-criticized press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Where are our military folks? The Commander in Chief is in the hands of our enemy!” Cohen wrote on Twitter, using language suggestive of a military coup. (Tweet) Cohen later said that he was in no way calling for a coup. “No coup called for,” he wrote, claiming it unlikely that someone would call for a coup on Twitter. Cohen’s bizarre tweet was similar to one from former Obama CIA Director

Chicago may soon become the largest municipality in the U.S. to test a universal basic income program. Chicago alderman Ameya Pawar recently proposed legislation that would provide 1,000 families with a $500 monthly stipend -- no questions asked. The bill already has the backing of the majority of city lawmakers, and Pawar hopes to soon work with Mayor Rahm Emanuel to implement the pilot program, The Intercept reported. “Nearly 70 percent of Americans don’t have $1,000 in the bank for an emergency,” Pawar told the outlet. “UBI could be an incredible benefit for people who are working and are having

When Presidents Trump and Vladimir Putin ended their joint press conference in Helsinki, the punditocracy predictably swarmed all over it like ants around a pile of crumbs. Was Trump winking at Putin? Did he really say he believes Putin more than he believes Robert Mueller about whether Russia interfered in the 2016 election? Former Gus Hall enthusiast John Brennan, off his meds again, tweeted that the presser was “treasonous.” Professional chatterer Anderson Cooper said it was “perhaps one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president at a summit.” Every phrase, every gesture of the event will be picked

San Francisco Mayor London Breed said the streets of her city are flooded with the excrement of the homeless in an interview Friday. Breed, a Democrat who was inaugurated as San Francisco’s mayor Wednesday, urged homeless advocacy groups that receive money from the city to teach homeless people to “clean up after themselves.” “There is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” Breed told KNTV. “That is a huge problem and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.” The streets of San Francisco are littered with a “dangerous

Whether Democrats realize it or not, the names being tossed as potential 2020 challengers to President Trump are weak. It’s milquetoast. All far too left for the American voter, and all with rigid regional appeal. Who knows who Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is outside of New Jersey? The same could be said for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) doesn’t resonate outside of the Boston suburbs. And Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), well, she’s working hard to boost her profile, but she’s running aground with the Bernie crowd. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) could run again, but his age—and the

President Donald Trump’s comments during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday were “treasonous,” former CIA Director John Brennan asserted. “Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes & misdemeanors,’” Brennan, a vocal Trump critic, wrote on Twitter. “It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???” Trump and Putin fielded questions from reporters at a joint summit in Helsinki following a one-on-one meeting earlier in the day. Trump praised Putin during

A 63-year-old father of 43 children was found beaten to death Sunday afternoon in his home on Chicago´s West Side. The body of John Hearring -- known as Nicholas -- was discovered with head trauma in his upstairs apartment in the 1000-block of North Leamington Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. Multiple family members confirmed that he had 43 children. Hearring was a long-time resident there and well-known in the neighborhood. "He was the nicest man you´d ever want to meet. I don´t get it. All this killing is so senseless and now they are targeting the elderly," said Gwen Bridgeforth, his daughter-in-law.
