Starbucks apologizes for
slur on customer´s order

CBS Money Watch, by Kate Gibson

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 5/17/2018 10:59:23 PM

Starbucks´ day of racial-bias training for its baristas can´t come soon enough. With less than two weeks to go before the coffee chain closes stores nationwide to educate its nearly 175,000 workers on how not to discriminate against others, Starbucks (SBUX) this week found itself apologizing for doing just that. (Tweet) The apology on social media came after a customer at a Starbucks in La Cañada Flintridge, California, found the word "Beaner" -- a derogatory term for Mexicans -- printed on his coffee drink instead of "Pedro," his name. A friend of Pedro's who translated for him told CBS Los Angeles that his "friend was also sad"

Comments:
The apologies will never end.

Outrageous in this day and age. The radical leftist CEO and the entire board of directors must resign in disgrace, immediately, for starters.

And here I thought "Beaner" referred to Cheech and Chong´s car: a beat up used car with bald tires, worn out shocks and very bad paint, but with a very, very loud radio or disc player.

Live and learn.

My first thought was that he had to ask for "Beaner" for his order. If I got the order, I would have written, "Customer requested ´Beaner´" on the cup. But, ´Beaner´ is not really in common use so I can see how the average 20-something wouldn´t know what it meant.

Very fishy. Pedro was able to order a venti white mocha but needed to have Beaner translated? How did he know the Beaner cup was his, anyway? Why would he pick up a cup that doesn´t have his name on it? Sometimes they call out the name on the cup. Why would he answer to Beaner....Unless....that´s the name he gave them.

Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May.
