Newly-engaged couple looking for
wedding locations in Mexico reveal how
they were kidnapped at gunpoint, robbed
and severely beaten over several hours

A recently engaged couple from Florida were kidnapped at gunpoint, robbed and severely beaten on a trip to Mexico when they were supposed to be looking at wedding venues. Frank and Jennifer Massabki said they were lucky to survive and are still reeling from the terrifying ordeal in Mexico City in May last year. Jennifer, who was almost raped by one of their attackers, suffered a broken nose in the ordeal and had to undergo emergency surgery in a US hospital days later. Horrifying photos show them sitting at a police station in their blood-soaked clothes soon after they managed to escape.

Some people don´t listen, or assume something as predictable and bad as a Mexican disaster will never happen to them.

I´ve lived a significant portion of my adult life within shouting distance of the Cal/Mex border; close enough to know never to cross it.

If you ever want a quick and inexpensive dose of southwestern cultural anthropology, pick up the red trolley in downtown San Diego and head south to the border. By the time you´re halfway to TJ you won´t be surprised if you see goats and chickens climbing on board.

I´m exaggerating, but only barely. It ain´t one world, yet.

Amen, OP. This Texan wouldn’t go to Mexico any more than I would vacation in Yemen. Mexico is NOT our friend. They do not behave like our ally. I am done giving them a pass.

I used to go to Juarez and Nogales years ago to shop and hit the Mex. bars. The US guys in my group always had an understanding that if our car were to hit and injure a Mexican national, that we were to run like hell to the border and get back in the USA because, if not, you will then experience the Mexican gulag and the worst of inner Mexico human behavior.

These border towns being on the Mexico side was all I needed to see. I have no interest to go there on holiday. I´ll stick with the Caribbean and Hawaii.

Almost 36 years ago (My youngest was a new born) my dentist was married and honeymooned in Mexico.

On the resort golf course thugs jumped from the trees and murdered his bride. In front of a whole bunch of people. It was a devastating loss. She was a beautiful girl who taught first grade.

Until the Mexican government does something
no one could pay me enough to go to Mexico

I´ve traveled the world as a merchant seaman in my youth and later by vacation ships. In my 70s now, you would never catch me planning a vacation in Mexico. Today it´s a narco...human trafficking hell hole. I feel safer in SE Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Israel and China than I do ten minutes from the US southern border.

My husband is on the east coast of Mexico right now on a resort island. He goes every year to conduct ‘training’ for promotional trips for radio stations, in coordination with the resort and the Mexican travel bureau. 2 weeks, fully paid at a nice resort, food, travel, everything. I have never been inclined to join him (for free). No way. I told him I can sit on a great beach here at home, 10 minutes from our house. And drink the water. And not get hacked to death or kidnapped. No thanks. I think he’s crazy to do it...he loves it there.

Further evidence of their stupidity is in the photos which they had taken of themselves for obvious posting on the web so that everyone can see how stupid they are. They still don´t get it.

Maybe if American tourists were to boycott travel to Mexico, the loss of revenue would be enough for the corrupt Mexican government to do something to protect its visitors. Then again, tourism revenue may be far less than what the government receives from the drug cartels. Moral: Stay out of Mexico and keep its criminals out of the U.S.

Destination weddings are stupid, expensive, inconvenient and costly for guests and family members, and demonstrate a self centeredness that does not bode well for the newlyweds.
A destination wedding in Mexico is stupid beyond belief.
The only destination wedding that made sense was on The Office, and the lovebirds set up the destination wedding so that no guests could go to it. But Michael Scott messed things up by giving his Dunder-Mifflin staff time off to attend.

A woman brandishing a 10-inch kitchen knife allegedly screamed “I want to kill all you Jews” as she chased a group of children who had just left a synagogue in north London. Police arrested a 47-year-old woman on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence after she was tackled by neighbourhood watch volunteers in Stamford Hill, which is home to Europe’s largest Hasidic Jewish community. She is said to have run after a group of around 14 children aged between eight and 13 on Sunday night while shouting antisemitic abuse. (Snip) “This is another worrying incident of knife crime

The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,

LANSING — The unprecedented outpouring of activism from students after the shooting at Marjorie Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Fla., in February is the genesis for a bill introduced in the Legislature last week that would change the voting age in Michigan to 16. "We allow 16-year-olds to go off and get jobs and pay taxes, but we fail to allow them to exercise their voice come election time," said Sen. David Knezek, D-Dearborn Heights. "Young people are setting aside their differences and identifying issues they think need to change. And they can do everything to get that change

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch also declined to show up for a major hearing where the Senate Judiciary Committee was looking into the inspector general’s report detailing major bungles in Mr. Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation. Mr. Comey’s lawyer said he was out of the country — though Sen. Charles E. Grassley, committee chairman, said he saw Mr. Comey

Bill Maher suggested there should be a movement for people who have been victims of police brutality after a discussion on his show about police brutality. During a segment on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher, Maher called out abusive police officers and the people who protect him on Friday. “We need to stop saying most cops are good like we know that to be true,” Maher said. “I hope it’s true, but I need some evidence, unlike cops.” The HBO show host continued and said the violence exposed by the people who post the videos on social media is a problem. He questioned the kindness of police and questioned why there are
