Big day for progressive candidates may
limit Democratic gains in the House

American Thinker, by Richard Baehr

Given historical trends on the number of seats lost by the president’s party in the first midterm, the number of GOP retirements this cycle, and redistricting in Pennsylvania ordered by the state’s supreme court and created by a university professor to favor Democrats, prospects for Democrats taking the House remain quite good. But not quite as good as they were the day before yesterday. Last night, progressive candidates had a good night in the Democratic primaries in the Keystone State, as well as springing an upset in the competitive 2nd district in Nebraska. In Pennsylvania, a state where Republicans now

Radical left Democrats were elected yesterday in multiple states. This article was correct about that though the author describes them as progressives, a word I don´t use in political contexts. Beyond that, this article was unnecessarily pessimistic. It´s something Karl Rove--or anyone in the Establishment who was sure Trump would lose--might have written.

Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said she would like to be CEO of Facebook. Speaking to an audience at Harvard University, alongside Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, Clinton was asked what company, if any, she would like to be CEO of. Clinton said she made Facebook her choice because the social media giant is the “biggest news platform in the world.” “We can listen to really brilliant, experienced writers like David Ignatius and try to keep up with the news,” continued Clinton “But most people in our country get their news, true or not, from Facebook.” Clinton went on to talk

It is clearly stated in the Constitution: no more than two consecutive terms. Now I have a second term. As you remember, I was twice president before that, and then left the post of president, because the Constitution did not allow me to be elected for a third time, that’s all,” Putin told reporters at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). “I intend to adhere to this

Department of Homeland Security officials lambasted the president of a Border Patrol union for calling President Trump´s border deployment of the National Guard a "colossal waste of resources." As of Friday, National Guard troops assisted U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents in apprehending 4,116 illegal immigrants, turning back 1,182 people, and seizing 3,486 pounds of marijuana since April 15, according to new DHS data first obtained by the Washington Examiner. The Trump administration moved Friday to officially revoke an Obama-era program designed to entice foreign entrepreneurs to move to the U.S. to invest their cash in businesses here, saying the previous administration overstepped its powers. The revocation, if it becomes final, would be yet another blow to President Obama’s attempts to rewrite the immigration system by executive fiat — a policy that also included the DACA deportation amnesty for illegal immigrant “Dreamers,” a broader prohibition on deportations of most illegal immigrants, and new programs to allow more people to enter legally.

Game on? After Donald Trump canceled the summit with Kim Jong-un in a letter that cited North Korea’s “tremendous anger and open hostility,” Pyongyang appeared to reverse its rhetorical strategy. Its #2 diplomat, Kim Kye Gwan, offered a more conciliatory statement expressing the regime’s “willing[ness] to give time and opportunity to the US side with a big and open mind.” This morning, Trump offered a signal that the summit might take place after all: (Tweet) Does that mean the summit is back on? Some NFL players are reportedly considering new ways to protest after NFL owners voted on a new national anthem policy Wednesday, reports Sports Illustrated´s Robert Klemko. According to Klemko, some are discussing ways to skirt new rules "just to spite the NFL." The policy removes a requirement for players to be on the field for the anthem, and gives players the option to stay in the locker room. Teams will be fined for any personnel that "do not show proper respect for the flag and Anthem” on the sidelines. Other journalists were hearing similar things from players they talked to.

Democrats and their media allies are again shouting “constitutional crisis,” this time claiming President Trump has waded too far into the Russia investigation. The howls are a diversion from the actual crisis: the Justice Department’s unprecedented contempt for duly elected representatives, and the lasting harm it is doing to law enforcement and to the department’s relationship with Congress. The conceit of those claiming Mr. Trump has crossed some line in ordering the Justice Department to comply with oversight is that “investigators” are beyond question. Through invitation-only emails and private, off-the-record meetings, they have formed a loose network of cross-partisan alliances aimed at helping neutralize President Trump,
