Senator McCain’s Regrets
New York Sun, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 5/12/2018 11:13:05 AM

As death flutters around the back-yard deck of Senator John McCain, it’s sad to read reports that the scrappy Sandcutter regrets picking Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate and wishes he had instead picked Senator Jos. Lieberman. The only person diminished by this kind of talk is Senator McCain himself, and the heroic Arizonan deserves better. Not that we lack for love of Mr. Lieberman. The Sun was the first newspaper to sketch the rationale for Mr. McCain to bring in Mr. Lieberman as his running mate. That was in an enthusiastic editorial called “The Logic of Lieberman.”

Very charitable article towards this hateful man. I am not going to waste anymore time reading about him. This time next year he will be forgotten and unable to do more harm.

What a pathetic old self-absorbed man. Palin probably got him most of his votes, while he was delusionally saying that we had nothing to fear from a Zero presidency, pretending to suspend his campaign, admitting he knew nothing about economics, and endlessly mentioning Joe the Plumber in the final debate. Sadly, this nutcase will never come to grips with the fact that he was the problem.

I suspect that McCain´s regrets have more to do with Sarah Palin drawing bigger crowds, and having more post-2008 influence that he has.

This editorial should provide balm for the wounds inflicted on Sarah Palin by her inept, jealous, now bitter, running mate. She had the policies, the right path, the strength and the commitment. She showed him up. In his sick mind, perhaps that is at the root of what he said the other day.

How ironic is it to see Joe Lieberman heaping praise on President Trump?

Had McCain picked Lieberman I would have voted for the Libertarian party. I only voted for McCain because he picked Sarah. He lost by more than 10 million votes so it wouldn´t have mattered. That old fool probably believes had he picked Lieberman he would have won! He should have just been a Democrat then he wouldn´t have so many regrets!

I am not a fan of anyone that attacks, then hides behind his deathbed and legacy. McCain was disloyal to his constituents time and time again. He hid his faithlessness behind the title of ´Maverick´. If someone were to be unfaithful to their religion, their wife or their country, excusing their behavior with the phrase ´I´m a Maverick´ would not hold water, and it does not here either. I remember when Presidential candidate John McCain was introduced, the audience clapped politely. When he introduced his running mate, Sara Palin, the audience roared. That is why he chose her, but perhaps that is also what he regretted. The fact that he was second fiddle. Perhaps that is also why he never chose to defend her when she was viciously attacked and branded by the press. At one time I liked John McCain. He could have retained my admiration had he remained faithful to principle instead of selling out every time the Republican agenda did not coincide with the Marxist sycophants that constitute the majority of the press. You´re a small man John, and you´re getting smaller by the day.

McCain was the last person on earth I ever thought I would actually be casting a vote to make him President of this Great Nation. It is one of my lasting life regrets and was one of the most difficult things I ever had to morally contemplate. I rationalized my vote by saying, "Well, at least he is not Obama." Obama was so unfit and unqualified for the Presidency, I probably would have voted for any randomly selected street bum over Obama.

But, I have to live with my vote and am quite thankful, really that such an incompetent boob as Obama was the Democratic Party winner. Why? Because as slovenly and stupid as Obama was, his ignorance allowed the savior President to come in and quite easily undo most of his larger chunks of damage. I think McCain would have been somewhat more intelligent and devious having masterfully worked the American system for decades. McCain damage would have been far more difficult to remove and to repair.

What a legacy for McCain- that Obama was a kind of ´cushion´ against a possible McCain Presidency. God truly does work in mysterious ways.

Everyone above understands, especially #4 and #7. It took about a millisecond for every sentient citizen to see that McCain would not and could not stack up to his running mate in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

He ran on being an unreliable Republican--"Maverick," it was, that they anointed him. (Gag me.) Many of us conservatives regarded him as a useless backstabber who delighted in stirring up trouble and providing Republican dirt to the NYT and the WaPo. If he can´t handle the fact that Sarah was categorically superior to him, he´s not only a bitter, jealous dying man--he´s also a stupex, as he demonstrated clearly at Annapolis. Bottom of the class, bottom of the barrel. So long, dogberry.

He was, and is, a media creation, which says more about the corrupt media, than the statesman status of McCain.

The media just can´t stop lying about Trump President Trump’s half-hour, impromptu interview on Fox & Friends on last Friday sent the media’s fact checkers into overdrive this weekend. Everyone from PolitiFact to the New York Times to virtually all the Sunday morning national talk shows piled on, calling Trump a liar. But the media can’t stop lying about what the president says. Sometimes it can’t distinguish a legitimate point of disagreement from a lie. It is no wonder that people have tuned out much of the constant attacks on Trump. Just take the hyperbole on Sunday’s Meet the Press.

Members of the media and Democrats are unsatisfied with President Trump’s executive order temporarily ending family separations at the border and are now urging him to end his zero tolerance policy on prosecuting people who cross the border illegally. President Trump announced Wednesday that he would allow families to be detained together while they wait to be prosecuted for illegal border crossings. Immigration law currently requires children to be sheltered separately as their parents await trial. However, despite spending weeks complaining about the separation of families and even comparing the detention centers to

Now that people in the news media are literally crying on TV, it’s time to watch public opinion once again drift into President Trump’s favor. The Bush family has a famously adversarial relationship with English. It became clear this week that at least one of them is also illiterate where U.S. history and immigration policy are concerned. This was demonstrated when former First Lady Laura Bush took to the pages of the Washington Post to denounce President Trump for enforcing a statute signed into law by her own husband, George W. Bush. Even worse, she compared the HHS facilities where the children of illegal immigrants are briefly housed to the infamous internment camps where Democrat icon FDR imprisoned 110,000 American citizens of Japanese descent.

Few left-wing pressure groups are as vicious and mendacious as the Southern Poverty Law Center. Founded in 1971, the SPLC today mainly exists to smear opponents of full-spectrum progressivism as “bigots” and “extremists.” Once the Montgomery, Alabama-based outfit mislabels an individual or an institution this way, it becomes nearly impossible to clear the taint, since many reporters mistake the SPLC for a bona fide rights watchdog. For the first time since the election of 1984, the Left is on the run and they don’t like it one bit. Until recently it was possible to discern a policy-based ideology of elitism. It was the establishment consensus around the benefits of globalization, automation, centralization and uncontrolled immigration. Over the past few decades, this elitist policy agenda was implemented regardless of actual election outcomes.
