Haley sets a red line for Trump
Politico, by Eliana Johnson and Burgess Everett

In the span of 24 hours, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley has done what none of her colleagues in President Donald Trump’s Cabinet have before: successfully telegraphed to her boss that she will not quietly suffer his public humiliations. Haley was initially blamed by White House aides for creating confusion by speaking on national television about the administration’s plans to roll out new sanctions against Russia that the president ultimately decided to defer. But within hours of White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow’s statement Tuesday that Haley had fallen prey to “momentary confusion” and gotten

She´s tough! I like her!

If there was EVER a woman who deserves to be President, it´s her, not some carpet-bagging, alcoholic, Depends queen from some town in New York she sandbagged to become a senator.

Camille Cosby, the wife of the disgraced comedian Bill Cosby, disparaged the media, Mr. Cosby’s accusers and his prosecutors in a caustic statement released Thursday, her first public comments since Mr. Cosby was convicted of sexual assault last week. She called for a criminal investigation of the Montgomery County district attorney and repeatedly suggested that Mr. Cosby was targeted because of his race. In a three-page release, Mrs. Cosby explicitly blamed the media for Mr. Cosby’s fate in court, citing what she called a “frenzied, relentless demonization of him and unquestioning acceptance of accusers’ allegations without any attendant proof.” She went

Rod Rosenstein has let Mueller go far too far
New York Post, by Rich Lowry    Original Article

Rod Rosenstein is doing a star turn as principled defender of the law, but he’s performed abysmally as deputy attorney general and President Trump would be fully justified in firing him. The leaked questions special counsel Robert Mueller wants to ask Trump in a prospective deposition are, if accurate, a sign that Mueller has spun out of control on Rosenstein’s watch. The questions suggest a free-floating investigation of the president’s motives, undertaken by a subordinate of the president. This is unlike any special-counsel investigation we’ve ever seen and represents a significant distortion of our system. Per the questions, Mueller wants to know

Former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn has been charged with alleged conspiracy to defraud the United States and VW customers in the so-called "defeat device" scheme, the Department of Justice announced today. Winterkorn, who served as chairman of the board from 2007 to 2015, is the highest ranking Volkswagen official indicted in the government´s three-year probe. The automaker in 2015 admitted it had installed software designed to cheat U.S. emissions standards in around half a million diesel cars sold in the U.S. between 2009 and 2015. The computer program would detect when the car was undergoing emissions evaluations and decrease its nitrogen

State Sen. His decision follows Wednesday’s release of an ethics report that states Rosenberg “failed to protect the Senate” from his estranged husband, who faces charges of racially and sexually harassing Senate employees. “In light … of the disciplinary measure recommended by the ethics committee, it would not be fair to my constituents to have a representative in the Senate who lacked the authority to represent their interests fully,”

President Donald Trump acknowledged Thursday he repaid his personal lawyer for hush money given to porn actress Stormy Daniels after claiming previously he didn´t know about the payments. But the money, paid just before the 2016 election to stifle her claims of an affair, "had nothing to do with the campaign," the president tweeted. Trump said his attorney Michael Cohen received a monthly retainer, which he used to pay the actress to sign an agreement not to talk about her allegations and thus "stop the false and extortionist accusations made by her about an affair." Hillary Clinton was back in the news last week thanks to a Sunday speech at the PEN America World Voices Festival, which sounded custom-designed to give Donald Trump a nosebleed. (Snip)What’s so wrong with Clinton’s letting off a little steam? For starters, she’s bad at it—by which I mean she too often winds up making herself look bad. Whenever she talks about What Happened, her recent book recounting her experience as a presidential candidate, Clinton comes across as self-pitying and self-justifying, in large part because she cannot resist bringing up all the other folks and forces she considers at fault.

Lewandowski has said he would accept a White House post if Trump calls him off the bench. But in the end it´s unlikely to happen. Still, the mere fact that Lewandowski is on the radar for the top job, after the campaign fired him in the spring of 2016, underscores his rising stock and the changing

Former President George W. Bush was in terrible political shape in the spring of 2006. The Iraq War was going disastrously and voters were tired of the president, whose job approval rating in the RealClearPolitics average of polls was around 35 percent. "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are the rights singled out by Thomas Jefferson as those most deserving the protection of government as he and his fellow founders sought to recover the ‘rights of Englishmen’ of which they felt they were being deprived. This makes it more than ironic that those rights no longer exist in the country of England, where two very young children no longer have life, after their parents had their liberty taken away and were deprived of the happiness that preserving their children’s lives had brought. Everyone knows that resources are finite and demands can be great,

James Comey is beginning to remind me of David Brock. In the mid 1990s, Brock wrote a book that criticized Hillary Clinton, though not to the degree many on the right hoped for. He then spent the next two decades sucking up to Hillary. Comey publicly criticized Clinton’s handling of classified emails, though he did not lower the boom that many on the right hoped for. Now Comey seems obsessed with gaining Hillary’s forgiveness. When George Stephanopoulos asked Comey what he would say to Hillary Clinton today, the former FBI director responded: “I hope you’ll read those chapters of the book. Not so

Crying poverty amid decade-long stagnant salaries and Washington’s steep cost of living, an increasing number of House lawmakers have turned into professional squatters at night, hitting the sack in their Capitol Hill offices — on everything from cots in closets to futons stashed behind constituent couches — to save a few bucks during the work week. “Washington is too expensive,” said Rep. The reform movement fueled by political centrists is getting stronger all over the country, but it needs a heavyweight 2020 Independent presidential candidate to gain national traction and big-time financial backing. Ohio Gov. John Kasich ought to take up that challenge. He can’t get the nomination of his own party. Although he’s a lifelong Republican who won statewide in a key battleground state the GOP needs to win the presidency, he’s become much too moderate, not to mention high-principled and independent, for the party.

A Christian’s primary purpose is not to defend his own religious liberty. It’s not even to fight abortion — as vital as that task is. His basic task on this Earth isn’t protecting Christian education or preserving the freedom of Christian artists. Each of those things is important. Each of those things is necessary. But their defense cannot and must not compromise our true purpose. And what is that purpose? I’m reminded of the Westminster Shorter Catechism: “What is the chief end of man? Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.”
