On James Comey and what the FBI
thought about Michael Flynn

Washington Examiner [DC], by Byron York

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 4/17/2018 5:37:09 AM

In his ABC interview, fired FBI Director James Comey was asked about reports that he told Congress, in March 2017, that the FBI agents who interviewed Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn did not think Flynn had lied to them — even though Flynn, several months later, pleaded guilty to one count of lying to the FBI. Did Comey tell lawmakers that? Here is the exchange between Comey and ABC´s George Stephanopoulos: STEPHANOPOULOS: There´s been some reporting that — at —at — at one point you told the Congress that the agents who interviewed Mike Flynn didn´t believe that he had lied.

The wild and wacky James Cardinal Comey will blame it all on Macedonian content farmers unable to recognize Comey’s virtue and jealous of Comey’s unassailable reputation, and obviously programmed by President Trump and paid by President Putin.

The Depends wearers will let all this go with their typical cowardous furled eyebrows, letters of concern, and yet another kabuki fall down-roll over-soil self reaction. Flynn´s life, like Scooters will continue to be destroyed and the deep state will merely get stronger, just like they´re getting stronger every day thanks to the GOP helping them.

Venezuela, China, North Korea, Iran can continue murdering their own in broad daylight just as long as they don´t use chemicals, because it´s so much more humane to torture then murder than to murder with gas. Plus, there´s MAGA points in chemicals.

Comey, together with coconspirators Lynch and B. Hussein, was responsible for the most egregious obstruction of justice in our lifetimes - the corrupt de facto pardoning of national-security-risk Felonia Pantsuit, so that her henceforth illegal candidacy could cheat its way past the will of the people. Everyone from left to right knows this and has known it for nearly two years. What we don´t yet know is how Comey and his coconspirators will be held accountable. How, not if.

Is ´can´t prove untrue´ new

Washington Examiner [DC], by Byron York    Original Article

When a political figure is accused of wrongdoing, a conversation begins among journalists, commentators, and public officials. Are the charges true? Can the accusers prove it? That´s the way it normally works. But now, in the case of the Trump dossier – the allegations compiled by a former British spy hired by the Clinton campaign to gather dirt on presidential candidate Donald Trump – the generally accepted standard of justice has been turned on its head. Now, the question is: Can the accused prove the charges false? Increasingly, the president´s critics argue that the dossier is legitimate because it has

Like Captain Ahab, Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller has spent eleven months frantically hunting a giant whale. So far, Mueller has harpooned a couple of cod and a few salmon. But these fish have yet to demonstrate that the huge, ocean-going mammal in question merits capture. And Mueller’s barely productive odyssey is an enormous embarrassment compared with the mass ichthyocide that was the Watergate investigation, even at the equivalent stage in that long, national nightmare. The FBI’s Russiagate inquiry “began in late July” 2016, as its former director, James Comey, told the House Intelligence Committee on March 20, 2017. The intervening

During the 2016 presidential race, we often heard about “dysfunction” within the Trump campaign. Indeed, this was a theme of mainstream media coverage. The Clinton campaign, by contrast, was portrayed as a smooth, if uninspiring, operation. Only after the election did we begin to learn about discord and dysfunction in Hillaryland. Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign, by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes provided details. Along, now, comes Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling by Amy Chozick, who covered the Clinton campaign for the New York Times. I haven’t read the book, and probably won’t. However,

When Alexander Hamilton wrote of the judiciary, in Federalist 78, he called it the “least dangerous branch.” It lacks the executive power of the sword and Congress’ power of the purse. It has only the faculty of judgment, and must depend on the executive to enforce its judgments. But what if the judges mistrust the executive, and announce that his orders be ignored? In that case the entire system of separation of powers might be undone, in matters purely political. The judiciary will have usurped the executive power and made little presidents of themselves. A frightening thought, and yet that

WASHINGTON — Mike Pompeo, President Donald Trump’s choice for secretary of state, avoided a rare rebuke Monday as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee narrowly recommended him, but the vote served as a warning shot to the White House as nominees to lead the CIA and Veterans Affairs are hitting stiff resistance. Pompeo, who’s now CIA director, received the panel’s approval only after Trump’s last-minute overtures to Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. Pompeo’s nomination now goes to the full Senate, where votes are tallying in his favor and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he looks forward to voting to confirm him later

Mick Mulvaney is making sweeping changes to the consumer agency he temporarily leads, including its name. The symbolic tweak has been overlooked as Mulvaney has pursued numerous other, more concrete changes, such as delaying a major new federal regulation of payday lending. Yet, it’s an example of the Trump appointee’s talent for pleasing Republicans and ticking off liberals every chance he gets. From the time its doors opened in 2011, the agency was known as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Usually, people just called it “the CFPB.” Yet those terms, which adorn the agency’s headquarters, make up its website URL, and are used

Sen. Mike Lee has been fighting against the renomination of Chai Feldblum as EEOC Commissioner. Feldblum is the architect of President Obama’s radical LBGT agenda. She believes, among other things, that when religious liberty and sexual liberty conflict, sexual liberty should prevail in virtually all cases. The confirmation of Feldblum looked like a done deal in December. However, key social conservative groups sounded the alarm, and Sen. Lee placed a hold on Feldblum’s nomination. It is stalled. Now, however, I’m hearing (but haven’t been able to confirm) that a push is under way to steer Feldblum’s nomination through the Senate this week.

A man who was once the highest-ranking uniformed officer in the NYPD avoided charges in a corruption scandal that rocked the department — even though his bank records revealed some $300,000 in transactions that the FBI called the hallmarks of “money laundering,” The Post has learned. The feds’ investigation turned up surveillance photos that show former Chief of Department Philip Banks making some of the deposits, while other photos show “at least one other person, whom the FBI has not been able to identify, making deposits into these accounts,” according to a sworn affidavit filed in Manhattan federal court.

And, sure enough, that’s exactly what happened. Buoyed with optimism as taxes were cut and anti-business regulations eliminated, businesses invested, GDP growth climbed to a 3.1 percent average for Trump’s first three full quarters in office and the unemployment rate declined to a low last seen during President Clinton’s final year in office. To avoid slipping back into the economic doldrums we experienced under President Obama –- which, incidentally, offer a look at the alternate reality we

New York Times reporter Amy Chozick has a new book on Hillary Clinton and the 2016 election, and one anecdote in particular from it was getting attention on Friday. It's from election night, when Chozick writes in Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling that it finally became clear somebody had to break the news to Clinton that she was going to lose to Donald Trump. The task fell to "Robby Mook, the drained and deflated campaign manager," per an excerpt in the Times. And when he finally did so, Clinton "didn't seem all that surprised," writes Chozick. Perhaps the most enduring puzzlement about Donald Trump the president and candidate is his ability, if that’s what it is, to attract a faithful political base founded on fervent evangelical Christians, despite his frequently reinforced reputation for less than righteous acts and statements.
