Riddle: How can someone get a birdie and a double bogey on the same hole? Professional golfer Kelly Kraft did just that when he was was playing the par-3 14th hole on Friday at the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He hit a 7-iron toward the green, but his ball hit a bird in midair and plopped into the water. Kraft went on to double bogey the hole — and missed the cut by just one stroke. "Kraft told PGATour.com the bad break cost him the cut," Fox News reported. "He said his tee shot

How dare the dumb bird get in the way of a golfer. Does it not know how to avoid flying objects?

The “rub of the green” works both ways. A few tournaments ago, Greg Chalmers hit way long on a par 3 hole. His ball bounced off a grandstand and stopped 3 feet from the hole. He made 2.

#3 & #4 are correct. ´Tis a rub of the green. If a bird and your ball, just off the driver´s clubface, inhabit the same space at the same time, bad luck for you and worse luck for the bird.

In a (fortunately) practice round at my home club in about 1972, I faced a 90 degree dogleg par 4, driveable by long hitters, and tagged one. It flew fifty yards off the tee before intersecting with a blue jay in an explosion of blue feathers. My tee shot made it about eighty yards, and the bird was dead. Dindu nuffin.

If a bird or any other animal picks up your ball on the green and drops it in the hole, does that count? Or does the ball have to be moving when it interacts with the animal?

The top Democrat on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence acknowledged in a recent interview that contacts between Trump campaign associates and Russians could be “a set of coincidences” rather than collusion. “I’m reserving my final judgement until we’ve seen all the witnesses we need to see, and we’ve gotten all the facts. So I’m going to hold off,” Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said in an interview with The New Yorker’s David Remnick when asked whether he believes that Trump associates conspired with the Kremlin to influence the 2016 presidential election. White House leakers used a raft of excuses Sunday to justify sharing sensitive Trump administration information with reporters, reasons ranging from a way to settle personal scores to dealing with a confrontational work environment within the West Wing. "The most common substantive leaks are the result of someone losing an internal policy debate," a senior administration official told Axios. "By leaking the decision, the loser gets one last chance to kill it with blowback from the public, Congress, or even the President." The aide then likened working in the White House to "kind of like being in a never-ending ´Mexican

Washington - Among recent pilgrims to the Arizona ranch of Senator John McCain was Joe Biden. The Republican, who has an aggressive form of brain cancer, urged the former vice-president to “not walk away” from politics, Biden told the New York Times.
