Famed gay rights lawyer sets
himself on fire at Prospect Park
in protest suicide against fossil fuels

A nationally known advocate for gay rights and the environment died Saturday in a fiery Prospect Park suicide, with his self-immolation meant as a wake-up call to save the planet. The charred remains of David Buckel, 60, were discovered shortly after sunrise when firefighters responded to a 6:40 a.m. blaze in the southwest corner of the sprawling Brooklyn park. “I am David Buckel and I just killed myself by fire as a protest suicide,” read a hand-written suicide note left near the blackened circle of burned grass. “I apologize to you for the mess.” A second, longer note — left with the first

We don’t give the coveted Darwin to idiots who take themselves out over stupidity. For this moron the permanent solution to a non problem seems fitting. I hope others join him in the ultimate sacrifice to save Earth from nothing but their own ideas and perceptions of reality as they see it.

Am I right to be thinking that the more politically attached a person seems the more that person may be unbalanced mentally? Yes, politics affect our everyday lives - too much now-a-days! But it is not the end all & be all. There has to be a leveling - to gain a sense that there is more to life than the material and the drive for some imaginary political power & a utopia. Most of us watch the national power plays between the political parties & the business interests knowing we have little or no leverage to change anything. Yet this poor soul was so emotionally invested that he committed suicide - thinking that his death would make a ´statement´?

just reading about the activities this man was involved in, all pushing the homosexual agenda on normal and decent people, he must have been in a really dark place mentally.
I feel sorry for those who witnessed this horrible act and saw his body. Eight years ago I found a neighbor in his front yard dead from a heart attack and it was pretty shocking. Can´t imagine the nightmares these people will have.
I pray he has found some peace now.

But he clearly took his faith seriously.

On the other hand, he was deluded. And it´s sad, because he threw away his life so foolishly on account of the obstinance of his ignorance.

I appreciate that this must sound like a broken record that simply keeps repeating itself, but why should anyone care for such a person in light of the true reality that during the hours and minutes that he contemplated his final act, that hundreds of innocent, defenseless lives were purposefully taken via abortion on demand. Roe v wade fairly demolished the bedrock moral belief that all human life has a value. So in light of the national approval and acceptance, under law, that this is no longer the case, then his life and all others have no meaning or value, PERIOD.

President Trump appears to be playing out a geopolitical agenda with Russia´s Vladimir Putin and keeping his cards so close to his chest that even his director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, is in the dark. When the White House revealed yesterday that Putin has been invited by national security adviser John Bolton to the White House for talks, Coats was publicly humiliated at the Aspen Security Conference, where he learned about the invitation onstage, "where he had been telling the audience that the U.S. is ´under attack´ by Russian cyberforces," according to Dave Boyer and Seth McLaughlin of the

As Fox News´s Tucker Carlson, who broke the story, pointed out, the only difference between them is that Manafort worked for Donald Trump.

Is it time to shut the Mueller investigation down? The evidence is mounting that Special Counsel Robert Mueller´s open-ended investigation into whether President Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the election from Hillary Clinton (which has turned up nothing on that specific front) is becoming more than just a political burr under the saddle of President Trump. American politics have borrowed a lot of ideas from sports. Nowadays, everyone has become familiar with certain phrases that we use in everyday life, often without even thinking about their origins. For example, the phrase "pull no punches" originated in boxing, and the proverbial "drop the ball” came from football. The well-known rule of "three strikes and you´re out" came from baseball. The latter is the best way to characterize President Trump´s attitude toward Vladimir Putin. It seems that leftists in America still cannot forgive Putin for the destruction of the ideals that were nurtured in the West by the Soviet

Our Constitution forbids the creation of “titles of nobility.” The Framers thought it was important enough that the prohibition appears twice, once forbidding the federal government from doing it, and elsewhere extending the ban to the states. And Americans, to the extent that they give the question any thought at all, probably think that the ban works: After all, nobody’s squiring about the United States, sporting titles like Duke of Pennsylvania or Earl of Internal Revenue. But now I’m wondering if we don’t have a problem. First, Charles C.W. Cooke, a Brit who just recently became an American citizen, noted the practice

Since her surprise primary victory over 10-term Congressman Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th District, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been promoted by the media as the prototype of a new generation of young progressives destined to replace the leadership of the Democratic Party. Unfortunately for her media boosters, however, she keeps blowing her lines. It’s not just her rote advocacy of single-payer healthcare and guaranteed government jobs, or even that she backs wacky ideas like abolishing ICE and occupying airports — Ocasio-Cortez is genuinely clueless. She outed herself, in several recent interviews, as functionally illiterate in economics, international relations, and history.

Rep. Maxine Waters warned supporters on Wednesday of potential "armed protests" against her after an extremist group called for ongoing demonstrations outside her office in Los Angeles. In a lengthy statement issued late Wednesday, Waters, D-Calif., said she’d been notified about forthcoming protests by the Oath Keepers, which she described as "an anti-government militia" that´s staged armed protests in cities across the country. She warned her supporters against being "baited" into counter-demonstrations or confrontations with the organization, which she said has a track record of "violent and provocative behavior." Liberals are sending care packages to female Democratic senators to oppose Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, including "pee-proof" underwear to use in their opposition to President Trump´s court pick. THINX and Icon, the companies behind the "period sex blanket" and absorbent underwear for bladder leaks, sent "endurance packages" to senators Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.).

Beating your wife is worse than protesting during the national anthem. So, too, is sexually assaulting a woman. While that might seem obvious, it needs to be clarified given The Associated Press´ report Thursday that the Miami Dolphins are now including protesting during the anthem on their list of "conduct detrimental to the club." Under NFL rules, that´s an offense punishable by a suspension of up to four games. The Dolphins later told the AP that "all options are still open." But to give you an idea of how heinous at least one NFL team sees trying to draw attention to racial and economic inequality, a four-game suspension is

Michael Avenatti says he’s the “street fighter” Democrats need if they’re going to win the White House in 2020. Avenatti, a lawyer who has become a household name — or at least has sought to become one — with his media appearances representing adult-film star Stormy Daniels, says he’s “giving serious thought” to running for president. He says he’s skeptical that the politicians now seen as likely contenders in the 2020 presidential race can beat President Trump. The Democratic Party needs “a street fighter … someone that can give as good as they take,” he said. “Let us remember that

Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, the reported FBI lovebirds, are the poster children for the next “Don’t Text and Investigate” public service ads airing soon at an FBI office near you. Their extraordinary texting affair on their government phones has given the FBI a black eye, laying bare a raw political bias brought into the workplace that agents are supposed to check at the door when they strap on their guns and badges. It is no longer in dispute that they held animus for Donald Trump, who was a subject of their Russia probe, or that they openly discussed using the powers

Before the word "resignation" became a euphemism for being fired, it connoted a sense of public integrity and personal honor. Attorney General Elliot Richardson and his deputy, William Ruckelshaus, showed both qualities when they resigned from the Nixon administration during the Saturday Night Massacre in 1973. Jimmy Carter’s secretary of state, Cyrus Vance, did likewise when he resigned during the Iran hostage crisis in 1980. Assuming Mike Pompeo and John Bolton still have their own senses intact, they, too, should resign following the epic disgrace of the U.S.-Russia summit inHelsinki on Monday. So should their senior staff. I don’t suggest
