10 years after taking in its last
detainee, Gitmo is ready and waiting
for Trump’s ‘bad dudes’

Washington Times, by Carlo Muñoz

On March 14, 2008, Muhammad Rahim al-Afghani, a close aide and “procurement specialist” for Osama bin Laden, having been captured by Pakistani authorities and handed over to the CIA, was processed and imprisoned at the U.S. detainment site at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Exactly a decade later, al-Afghani remains the last inmate to enter Guantanamo despite President Trump’s vow to “load it up with bad dudes.” The Pentagon has a haul of Islamic State fighters, but it now says it would rather hand them off to other countries. At its height under President George W. Bush, Guantanamo held 750 suspected militants

I think mothballing Gitmo would be a good thing. If you want to treat partisans like common criminals and give them every right to due process any American citizen is entitled to, then send them through the regular court system.

Treating them according to the various "Conventions" would be putting a noose around their necks post capture- or summarily executing them by gunfire on the battlefield. The whole reason for that is to protect the civilian populations they hide within as non-uniformed combatants. Arresting them is nothing but political cowardice. "Gee- we might look bad". It´s legal and it is necessary!

Send all those indicted for crimes against the USA to await their trials, and serve their sentences after, at Gitmo.

The publisher of former FBI Director James Comey’s forthcoming book is taking extreme measures to ensure the details of the memoir remain secret until it hits shelves, according to a report. Flatiron Books has implemented an electronic system to allow editors and agents access to drafts only if they have a password, Politico reported. The memoir is also kept under a code name, making it more difficult for staffers not working on the project to find it. Sources told Politico employees at warehouses Comey’s book, “A Higher Loyalty,” will be shipped from are facing requests to sign nondisclosure agreements. Books

Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said it´s "sexist" for Republicans to make House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) an issue in their campaigns."This election was not about Nancy Pelosi," Crowley told a news conference on Wednesday. He spoke the day after Democrat Conor Lamb won the special congressional race in western Pennsylvania. "Conor Lamb really localized the issue," Crowley said. "The attempt here to nationalize it by the Republicans -- I think they need to get a new game book. The attempts to use Nancy Pelosi, it´s failing them at this point. And I think,

It’s well known that Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan doesn’t want to be in an actual leadership position; and it’s also well known -enhanced by the campaign, and victory, of Donald Trump- that Republicans did not want to win the majority position and face having to reveal their true UniParty agenda. The evidence of this UniParty positioning has been staring the electorate in the face, repeatedly and brutally, since candidate Donald Trump actually campaigned on key tenets of the Republican party and found himself being openly opposed by GOP leadership. Now, a stunning discovery surfaces of Paul Ryan’s

There was no grand entry, or at least I missed it, standing behind Secret Service agents awaiting his arrival. Still, the hotel inside — the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown — had all the charming excesses that our 45th president might desire. The building´s interior decorator told this to my colleague Thomas Curwen about his inspiration for the steakhouse: "We wanted French opulence and good taste to meet with a gritty California scene." I would say Michelle and Barack Obama are back in the news, but they´ve never left the news since the 22nd Amendment mercifully exiled them from the Oval Office last year. When President Clinton took the oath of office in 1992, President George H.W. Bush went away. When President George W. Excuses: While traveling in India over the weekend, Hillary Clinton was still trying to fix blame for her election loss 16 months ago. That is, fix blame somewhere other than her own dismal campaign. But every time she does so, she manages to expose just why it is that she did lose. While in India, Clinton blamed married women for not being able to stand up to their husbands and vote correctly. The FBI office that handles employee discipline has recommended firing the bureau’s former deputy director over allegations that he authorized the disclosure of sensitive information to a reporter and misled investigators when asked about it — though Justice Department officials are still reviewing the matter and have not come to a final decision, a person familiar with the case said. The recommendation from the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility is likely to add fuel to the political fire surrounding former deputy director Andrew McCabe, who abruptly stepped down from his post earlier this year but technically remained an FBI employee. Rigid sexual orientations have defined the preference of men and women for decades; however, a new study is attempting to do away with strict definitions of sexuality. The study, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, argues that there’s no such thing as a “straight” man or woman. Rather, people operate on a spectrum. Researchers showed men and women different kinds of pornographic material. Rather than relying on self-reporting, the study looked at physiological responses to the sexual material. Namely pupil dilation, which is a sign of sexual arousal. The study found that women’s eyes dilated when they viewed a man and

President Trump´s new pick to lead the CIA previously ran a secret prison, where human rights groups say she oversaw the torture of detainees. Trump said Deputy Director Gina Haspel would replace incumbent Mike Pompeo, who the President tapped to be his new Secretary of State on Tuesday after axing Rex Tillerson. She´ll be the first woman to head the clandestine agency if the Senate confirms her nomination. The nomination is expected to ruffle feathers, however, given her past assignments.
