Anti-Gentrification ´Activists´
Embrace Violence, Threats

PJ Media, by Tom Knighton

When I think about heroic activists, one name stands tallest: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He fully embraced non-violence as the means to combat injustice, and by never raising a hand against his opponents, he won. Today, some anti-gentrification "activists" would do well to learn those lessons. In communities all around the nation, people see opportunity in lower-income neighborhoods. They enter the areas, start businesses and renovate structures. They raise property values and create jobs and boost our standard of living. They also drive out prior residents who were renters. This process is the natural result of a market economy. That being

Hipsters can´t take over a neighborhood without moving the natives to some barren places as done with some of the Indian tribes. There´s always conflict when unwelcome outsiders move in.

The ´funny part´ is white liberals are largely the ones pushing out poorer residents. In San Francisco and Portland the black populations have plummeted.

We lived this do this nonsense burns me up.

Neighborhoods filled with abandoned houses, some uninhabitable, many others section 8 rentals owned by out of town landlords (slumlords) who do minimal if any maintenance. All houses run down, small, and old. Median home value well below $100k.

The business areas feature used tire stores, paycheck loan joints, shady gas stations, run down business fronts with bars on the windows, few grocery store and none that stay open late. No new businesses or restaurants.

The perpetual presence of LEO´s and blue lights at night. Questionable inhabitants loiter all day and night. Kids run in gangs.

This was our neighborhood 20 years ago. We settled here in the early years of gentrification in an up and coming part of the neighborhood. We took a risk with OUR MONEY. It paid off for us and many retirees that owned their homes here for 40 years and were able to retire with a nice nest egg thanks to selling their older homes for good money.
Now median house value is well over 200k and new businesses and restaurants are flourishing. Yes, the objectionable criminal element is almost gone. GOOD!

"Boyle Heights was a predominantly Jewish community with “a vibrant, pre-World War II, Yiddish-speaking community, replete with small shops along Brooklyn Avenue, union halls, synagogues and hyperactive politics … shaped by the enduring influence of the Socialist and Communist parties"

"...the Jewish community was moving westward into new homes, the largest growing group, Latinos, were moving into Boyle Heights because to them this neighborhood was represented as upward mobility"

"Saul Alinsky; well-known Chicago-Jewish community activist and his company, the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) garnered support from the Mexican Americans in order for Roybal (Los Angeles’s first city council member of Latino heritage) to win the 1949 election" Wikipedia

Boyle Heights has long been a center for communist activism, and Mexican-Americans have been one of their "causes" since the 1940s. I don´t think they will allow the yuppies to gentrify the area. That would be racism.

The root of the problem is once again, democrats. democrats released the mental defectives to run free among us. democrats ruined schools by letting the ACLU determine who gets disciplined or removed from the school system. democrats invited the illegals to suck the system dry of resources and overload the schools and hospitals at the same time. Finally democrats outsourced manufacturing jobs and substituted any chance at a career for a poverty dependency handout that actually punishes initiative.

Require any welfare in any form to be earned with some form of time or labor and the only people protesting would be the SOROS crowd, which should be RICOed anyway. Plenty to do. You want rent help, clean up the trash or paint a house. You want food allowance, work in the community garden. How you mobilize a run down community to do these things and the much harder problem of stopping drugs and the crime that comes with that, requires imagination, discipline and most of all leadership. So far running it from DC with liberal ´leadership,´ has been an epic fail.

Former president Barack Obama is a man who exhibits selective outrage based upon how a tragedy can benefit advancing the utopian vision. If an event includes changing "the world as it is" into the world Obama thinks it "should be," the former president will commend whomever he has to. With that in mind, recently, via a piece written for Time magazine entitled "Cameron Kasky, Jaclyn Corin, David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez and Alex Wind," Obama praised the five Parkland student-activists who made Time´s 100 Most Influential People list. The former president wrote, "America´s response to mass shootings has long followed a predictable pattern."

The fight for the control of Washington, after a ton of preliminaries and battlespace preparation, is now underway in earnest. As Robert Mueller seeks a path toward linking Donald Trump to collusion with the Russian government, the president is trying to frame the investigation as a conspiracy hatched by the former administration´s intelligence bosses and secret policemen. It´s a clash between the irresistible force and the immovable object. The start of this war can be dated to January 5, 2017 according to Andrew McCarthy´s research. Farquhar, 31, passed out in the dugout during the sixth inning of Friday night´s game against the Houston Astros. Overnight testing revealed that a ruptured aneurysm caused the brain bleed. Farquhar, 1-1 in eight appearances this season, faced four batters and threw 15 pitches to get the final two outs in the top of the sixth before he passed out after the inning. He was attended to by White Sox personnel and emergency medical technicians. The team

No, I´m not talking about how the DOJ finally, after another seeming eternity, coughed up the Comey memos—although the vacuous and contradictory contents of the oddball former director´s jottings might have something to do with it. I am referring to the astonishing revelation that the Democratic National Committee (aka the DNC) is filing a lawsuit alleging Russia, the Trump campaign, and WikiLeaks conspired to disrupt the 2016 election. The transparency here is the DNC approaching a nervous breakdown. They´re seeing things and are in panic mode. What could be more

This is a country of 325-million people. If two guys getting tossed out of a coffee shop is news, then things in Donald Trump´s America must be going pretty damned well. But if the story were only meaningless trash, it would just be typical of American journalism. But it´s pernicious trash meant to advance a false left-wing narrative, which is — oh yeah! — typical of American journalism. In fact, this particular story is a textbook example of why our journalism needs reform. American journalism is a largely Democrat affair. About 7% of journalists identify as Republicans. About 28% identify as Democrats.

President Trump´s decision to postpone new economic sanctions against Russia on Monday brought some clarity to the foreign policy fight in Washington. The issue isn´t whether UN Ambassador Nikki Haley gets confused, as she waspishly denied, but the fact that the president is fighting the swamp single-handed. Here´s the Financial Times´ snarky Edward Luce in a blast email this morning: "The explanation is simple. Everyone in the Trump administration is really hawkish on Russia. Except the president. You can produce electricity with a wind turbine, but is it good policy to do so? The reality is that wind energy exists solely because of government subsidies. (Don’t take my word for it, just ask Warren Buffett: “We get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That’s the only reason to build them. They don’t make sense without the tax credit.”) Given that wind energy is intermittent–nationally, wind turbines produce electricity around 40% of the time, generally at off-peak hours–and electricity cannot be stored at an industrial scale, wind energy accomplishes little, other than driving
