Ross ice shelf in Antarctica is freezing

- and scientists have no idea why

The under-side of one of the largest floating ice shelves in the southern oceans is not melting as expected, according to experts. Scientists drilling along the western coast of Antarctica found that the Ross Ice Shelf is actually freezing - but they have no idea why. (Snip) Researchers from New Zealand used a hot water drill to dig deep into the floating ice shelf, roughly the size of Spain and around half a mile thick (1km). Experts then lowered a camera into the hole they had melted, using a thermometer and other instruments to study the ice shelf´s history. Rather than finding the

Could it be because global warming is total BS. There has not been a sun spot for weeks, which means less solar activity and colder temp.

The existing models are extremely crude, but climate "scientists" are trying to use them to predict 50-100 years into the future. They have failed to predict a decade. Go refine your models and when you can "postdict" for twenty years into the past, maybe we´ll take you seriously.

Some scientists that weren´t part of the Climate Change hoax predicted this would happen.

"If Ross and four other ice shelves in the south are unable to hold back the ice from melting, it is estimated global sea levels could rise by up to ten feet (three metres)."

Um..... Ice SHELVES are floating on the water. Like with ice cubes in your glass of iced tea, when the ice melts the water level remains the same.

Now the ice CAPS (e.g. Greenland, East Antarctica) rest on land, and if those melted it would raise sea level. But the news media seem inclined to consistently distort that aspect of the matter.

Are they still whining about the oceans rising? Much of that would be about displacement. Melting ice (water) would take place of ice. Not add to anything. And then there’s evaporation. (“Dammit, Fred! Don’t confuse me with the facts!”)

#19 Actually until they calve, they are not floating. They are like an unsupported dock or cantilever dock.
When calving happens the piece that breaks off either ends up rising above, or falling below the shelf depending on whether it is above or below it´s buoyancy point.
Generally an ice shelf is above sea level out over the ocean and below sea level near the coast because sea level is higher at the coast.

It was only "unexpected" because they were trying to prove the the existence of their pet theory, global warming. Real scientists don´t "expect" a predicted outcome. They theorize, they test, they collect data, and they publish the results. Their vaunted computer models can´t even predict the past without fudging the input data.
