We Banned Assault Weapons

Gun Control: Maybe they are too young to know, or have faulty memories, but whatever the reason, all those pushing for a ban on "assault weapons" in the wake of the Florida school shooting ignore the fact that the last time the country imposed such a ban it failed to make a measurable difference. Gun control advocates were ecstatic when President Trump appeared to support a ban on "semi-automatic assault weapons." The White House later issued a statement that he still opposes a ban. Nevertheless, Democrats have already introduced two bills that would outlaw the sale of weapons like the AR-15, based

The careers of most long-term politicians are already in jeopardy over past non-performance and RINO tendencies. This is all they need to be evicted from their cushy jobs. I don´t intend to vote for any of them unless they have spotless conservative records and I intend to keep my "assault weapons" indefinitely. The idiots who can´t even name them properly are in charge of our right to own them? I don´t think so.

Assault weapons have been banned since 1934. Google it. A semi auto military style looking plastic stock fake asssult weapon does not make it an assault weapon. It’s like putting a fiberglass Rolls Royce body on a VW chassis. It’s not a Rolls. It’s a VW that looks like a Rolls.

Anyone old enough to remember the idiot liberals´ war on "Saturday Night Specials?"
Those were "hot" handguns used in the commission of murders and heists in inner-cities, like Chicago. Problem was that "cheap" handguns discriminated against poor peoples´ access to exercise of their Second Amendment rights, the court ruled, and it never went anywhere. Today´s leftist tyrant attack is on "assault" weapons, whatever that means.

There are millions of Americans who have been reduced to quivering gobs of emotion on almost any headline from the propaganda machine of mass media. They can´t have a reasonable discussion on immigration, politics or guns. TOTAL brainwashing. Black or white on issues and zero interest in learning anything or recognizing reality.

It is kind of surreal to go from normal conversation to a demonic spewing of ´ no one needs an AR-15 to hunt deer or for any other purpose. ´ End of story. If you ask why exactly you get the same reply. OK, then which guns would be ´allowed?´ Any gun can be deadly and many things kill more people every year. Are we going to do Prohibition all over again?

There is NO middle ground, None. They hate anyone who has a gun of any sort and it is only a matter of time till they take it away, ´for your own good.´ Keep trying to talk sense into them or wait for them to be robbed or scared, that usually creates a sudden awakening, but while you wait for them to catch a glimpse of reality, never vote for a democrat anywhere and find and fund any non RINO if possible.

#2, if you are serious. Smith and Wesson makes some good versions, as do Ruger, stick with the original internal design, called "direct impingement", rather than the Ruger ´gas piston´ design which uses a lot of non-standard parts.

Rugers are robust and reliable, superb warranty.

Avoid the carbine handguard length if you are over 45, the front sight is too close for us oldsters. The mid-length handguard version carbine (16" barrel) are a good compromise, what Ruger uses.

Most today have eliminated the top handle, have a flat top intended to add a red dot or scope for sighting, much easier for older eyes. The USMC no longer teaches iron sights, recruits start with ACOG scopes.
If your budget is flush, the Trijicon ACOG 4x32 scope is USMC issue, VERY robust, but expensive, highest quality. The US Army uses a military version of the Aimpoint Comp M2(M4/M5), with a several year battery life, left on all the time, and EXTREMELY rugged, and expensive.

If you want to stick to basics, get a Ruger AR-556 ($550-650) and stick with iron sights initially. Upgrade to an ACOG 4x32 scope with Chevron reticle night illuminated without batteries for about $1100, or an Aimpoint Comp M4 or M5 no magnification red dot for around $850. For the budget minded, a Bushnell TRS-25 high rise is about $100 for a simple red dot sight. In optics, you get what you pay for, although the Bushnell is quite servicable, just not "soldier-proof".

Taxes: Whatever you think about the issue of taxing internet sales, the simple fact is that the Supreme Court has just guaranteed that people across the country will now be paying more in state taxes. It´s hard for us to see how this is good news. In its 5-4 decision on South Dakota v. Wayfair, the court overturned two previous rulings that prevented states from taxing sales of out-of-state companies. That meant a catalog company based in Maine didn´t have to navigate 45 state sales-tax laws to figure out how much each customer owed, and then remit that money to the

When he was asked how to become a columnist, Charles Krauthammer would say, with characteristic drollery, "First, you go to medical school." But he also came to the columnist craft by accident. Because of one. It has been said that if we had to think about tying our shoes or combing our hair we would never get out of the house in the morning. Scandal: Two agents and an attorney at the heart of the FBI´s Clinton email "investigation" expose flagrant political bias at the heart of that probe. So why won´t the FBI release their names to the public? And given what these key players said, how did the inspector general come to conclude that the "investigation" was unbiased? Were changes made to water it down? Before the Justice Department´s inspector general report came out, virulently anti-Trump texts between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page had already become public — except for a particularly troubling exchange revealed by the IG for the first time.

Popularity: President Trump can´t get a break from negative press coverage, but somehow his approval rating continues to edge upward. In fact, it´s now tied with where the "extremely popular" President Obama was at this point in his first term. The latest Gallup poll puts Trump´s job approval at 45%. That´s the highest it´s been since he took office, and it´s up from 37% at the start of the year. Although you´d barely know it from the press Trump gets, his approval number has been on a slow but relatively steady rise all year. Not only that, but Trump´s approval

I´m tired. Done in by network and cable news alike. Fried from frequenting online publications and opinion sites. Pooped in perusing breathless alerts on my devices. I´ve had it. And I´m not alone. A Pew Research study recently found that nearly 7 in 10 Americans suffer from "news fatigue" — a phenomenon even more pervasive among Republicans. The survey focused on the volume as much as the quality of the offerings. But why wouldn´t the public be emotionally expended from the anger and accusations, bullying and backbiting, "fake news" and "fact checks," insults and innuendo, posturing and protests, threats and trolling, and virtue-signaling and violent rhetoric

So the Chinese use platforms like WeChat and Alibaba. Now the Chinese government takes data from those platforms to assign all people who use them a "social credit score." In other words, the government monitors your web activity and gives you a grade. Your purchases, social interactions and political activity will determine what privileges you get. That it is cited and even relied upon by The New York Times, Facebook, Amazon, Google, CNN and others, and that Apple gave the organization a million dollars, is testimony to the moral state of mainstream media and corporate culture in America today. Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,

Liberals are reaching critical mass in the Democratic Party. While not strong enough to win all party contests, the left increasingly defines them. Their rise is clear over the past five presidential elections, and 2018 indicates they will be even stronger in the 2020s. The 2016 election was the latest manifestation of the left´s ascendancy in the Democratic Party. Consistently winning 40%-plus of the popular vote, Sanders rode this wave wire-to-wire. Only establishment-dominated superdelegates prevented 2016´s nomination from having to be decided on the convention floor. Liberals´ share of presidential voters has increased almost one-third since 2000. Exit polling in 2000 showed

What it really shows, however, is that the FBI — under pressure from President Obama — was just going through the motions the whole time.
