Billy Graham was no prophet;
His dealings with presidents
mixed vanity and naivete

Jewish World Review, by George F. Will

Original Article

Posted By:Hazymac, 2/21/2018 9:55:57 PM

Asked in 1972 if he believed in miracles, Billy Graham answered: Yes, Jesus performed some and there are many "miracles around us today, including television and airplanes." Graham was no theologian. Neither was he a prophet. Jesus said "a prophet hath no honor in his own country." Prophets take adversarial stances toward their times, as did the 20th century´s two greatest religious leaders, Martin Luther King and Pope John Paul II. Graham did not. Partly for that reason, his country showered him with honors. So, the subtitle of Grant Wacker´s 2014 book "America´s Pastor: Billy Graham and the Shaping of a Nation"

Being an intellectual idolator, George Will doesn´t go for this faith stuff at all, and did come out a couple of years ago as an atheist. His popularity around here was never especially high, and with this snarky ejaculation it will reach zero. Ultimately, this egghead worships his very finite brain. His enlightenment approaches, and it´ll be a doozy when it happens.

Those inclined not to read the article or to get angry with the OP should just skip on by without comment. The rest of us are doing enemy research. George Will is an educated fool.

Billy Graham was an inspiring preacher. You can watch his sermons from years ago, and they´re just as inspiring as the day he gave them. His message is timeless.

Will doesn’t even have the cajones to stand by his own words but sliathers his invective as if he’s quoting from a book he read on Billy Graham.

You’d think Will would be smart enough to know the adage where it’s better to stay quiet and be assumed a fool than to open ones mouth and confirm it.

A perfunctory and flat little screed by a man who thinks too highly of himself about a man who walked humbly with his God.

Was Billy Graham a perfect man? He would never have claimed such a thing. There has been only one Perfect Man. He´s the One the Reverand worshipped.

The arrogant and self-important Will should go back to the thing he knows and loves (other than himself): baseball.

I like George Will but he should have had enough sense to wait until a decent passage of time before his critique. It´s time to mourn not mock. Reverend Billy Graham was a class act. He genuinely wanted to change peoples lives. Some of the ones on tv today only want to line their pockets. Graham is a role model for us all.

Although I noted the somewhat ´damning-with-faint-praise´ tone of the article, I decided to read it as highly complimentary, as if GW was spelling out EXACTLY how it was that Mr Graham was able to affect so many lives in a positive way. So, he flattered the famous and was a bit naive. Way to go to get things done, Billy!. See! Much better.

So where does America go from here?
After the true colors are being shown just after this sad occasion, our direction can be only downward. My goodness, the man has not yet been buried, but the rats come out of the woodwork to disgrace his glorious memory. Will should be working for the Washington Post.

Hopefully, WTP have learned that scum comes to the surface. Such a disappointment to find no compassion but empathy in those who see themselves as purveyors of truth.

Something really chafed George’s thighs . Maybe something in his childhood, but this is a particularly cloaked, vitriolic assessment of Billy Graham, who did more good in three days than George did in his whole life.

His nauseating reference to Graham‘s alleged anti-semitism is truly disgusting, given that Graham´s comment about Jews and pornography happened to be true at the time Graham said it.

Newsflash to George Will: Get down off your high horse or God will knock you off.

TAMPA — Loueita Hargens had known for years how her son Bradley Dykes would die. Dipping into the Department of Justice Inspector General report released yesterday, we are inundated with information and interesting story lines. One such story line involves Bill Clinton’s response to the uproar created over his tarmac meeting with then Attorney General Loretta Lynch the Monday before Hillary Clinton’s scheduled weekend interview with the FBI in the email “investigation,” as we should probably refer to it. The uproar led to FBI Director James Comey improperly inserting himself into the decision making role over the prosecution of Hillary Clinton. A story of high tragedy is buried deep in the inspector general´s (IG) report published Thursday. Like Oedipus before him, FBI staffer Peter Strzok feared a terrible future and fought to prevent it. Ironically, his very efforts to stop Donald Trump from becoming president may have sealed that very fate. Lisa Page, Strzok´s co-worker and lover, breathlessly texted him, "[Trump´s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!" To this, Strzok replied, "No. No he won´t. We´ll stop it." Page and Strzok have become notorious for the anti-Trump texts they sent to one another. The IG report cited these texts as

Despite misleading headlines, the inspector general´s report on the FBI´s investigation into Hillary Clinton´s emails shows a powerful law enforcement agency hobbled by bias and dishonesty. The press has seized on the IG´s statement that he "did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that improper considerations, including political bias, directly affected the specific investigative decisions we reviewed." But that is simply Inspector Generalese for, "No one confessed or left a paper trail." In fact, several agents expressed a toxic hatred of Donald Trump and even, as one employee texted, a conviction that all Trump supporters

Sen. Elizabeth Warren says her life has become a round-the-clock nightmare due to the prospect of Democrats botching the midterm elections. A conversation with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow revealed the perpetual “terror” the Massachusetts lawmaker experiences as voters prepare to go to the polls in November. Mrs. Warren admitted her fears Thursday evening when confronted with a scenario in which Democrats fail to capture control of either chamber of Congress. “I really, really want us to do [succeed]. I’m going to work really, really hard to make that happen,” she said. “I run every day filled with terror that it won’t

The state of Illinois has approved $224 million to pay for street and transportation projects in Chicago´s South Side neighborhood around the Obama Presidential Center site, $199 million of which will fall directly on the shoulders of Illinois taxpayers. Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law the legislature´s budget on June 4, which included $174 million for road work in and around Jackson Park — where the 235-foot-tall building would be located — and another $50 million to renovate an above-ground rail stop two miles away. “Bringing the Obama Presidential Center to Chicago took leadership and vision, and we are gratified that our

You wonder why Fox News is Number One in cable? It´s because CNN, MSNBC, NBC and the rest are so relentlessly negative about Donald Trump they force people to watch Fox to find out the truth about the growing economy or the historically low unemployment rates for blacks. Take this week´s Singapore Summit. No matter what President Trump accomplished in Singapore in his face-to-face meeting with North Korea´s Kim Jong Un, for Joe, Mika and their fellow foreign policy experts in the media, it was not enough. Or it was too much. Or Trump was naive or stupid. Or he gave away too much. Or he didn't ask "Little Rocket Man"

Christian leaders across the country have taken issue with Attorney General Jeff Session´s usage of the Bible as justification of his policy that is separating thousand of immigrant families at the border. Sessions cited Romans 13 to attempt to justify how separating families was ordained by God because ´orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves and protect the weak and lawful.´ For religious leaders who still weren´t pleased with his usage of scripture, he offered them to ´speak up strongly to urge anyone who would come here to apply lawfully, to wait their turn and not violate the law.´

Just in time for Father´s Day, CNN brings you the story of a biological female who refers to herself as a transgender man who, after taking testosterone to "transition," conceived a child with a man who was "transitioning" into a transgender woman but stopped taking hormones long enough that they could conceive a son. CNN titled the piece, "He gave birth. He breastfed. Now, he wants his son to see him as a man." (Tweet/Photo) The "he" in question is Sabastion Sparks, 24, "a transgender man who lives with his wife Angel in suburban Atlanta." CNN writes, "Like many new dads, Sabastion Sparks knew parenting would come

The White House called MSNBC´s Joe Scarborough´s comments comparing the actions of immigration law enforcement officers at US border crossings to those of Nazis ´appalling´ on Friday. Scarborough pointed out while hosting ´Morning Joe´ on Friday that federal agents at US borders have reportedly used tactics similar to those used by Nazi soldiers during World War II to separate Jewish families, in saying children are being taken to ´shower´ and never returning with them. ´This is the type of inflammatory and unacceptable rhetoric that puts a target on the backs of our great law enforcement,´ White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley

Most of what happens inside Apple Park, the iPhone company´s stunning new headquarters, is top secret. But Apple CEO Tim Cook recently disclosed one new detail about the work environment: Everyone gets a standing desk. "We have given all of our employees, 100%, standing desks. If you can stand for a while, then sit, and so on and so forth, it´s much better for your lifestyle," Cook said in a recent interview with The Carlyle Group´s David Rubenstein published on Wednesday. He then encouraged the billionaire financier to stand with him — just like a prominent feature on the Apple Watch. Cook has previously cited

One of the biggest takeaways from the Department of Justice´s 500-page inspector general report is how deep the contempt for voters is among the Federal Bureau of Investigation´s leadership elite. The text messages are incredible. According to the gleanings of J. Christian Adams over at Pajamas Media: One FBI agent on the Hillary investigation wrote in an FBI text: Trump´s supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy POS. "POS" is the agent´s acronym for "Pieces Of S---." There´s also this from Adams: In another FBI communication, Strzok says he visited a rural Virginia Walmart – and the customers had a

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- An Indiana hospital for the Department of Veterans Affairs temporarily removed its military flags to put up an LGBT pride flag Tuesday. Some veterans in Fort Wayne, Indiana arrived at the VA hospital Tuesday morning and noticed all the military flags had been removed. On one of the flagpoles was a rainbow flag, in honor of LGBT pride month, WPTA in Fort Wayne reported. Some people in the area questioned the VA´s decision. "It´s certainly worth recognizing the veterans who are from that community who have served," Jarrod Schwartz, a veteran, said. "It´s a little odd,

The president of Harvard´s teaching hospital got to thinking one day and decided there were too many portraits of white male doctors hung in a popular amphitheater. She bemoaned the horrible situation that people walking into the amphitheater didn´t feel like they "belonged." The problem cried out for a solution. So she moved several portraits of prominent white doctors in order to be more diverse and inclusive. Problem solved? Campus Reform: The hospital’s president, Dr. Betsy Nabel, told the Globe that moving the portraits is the right decision: “I have watched the faces of individuals as they have come into Bornstein.

Phil Mickelson´s 48th birthday took a stunning turn at the US Open on Saturday when he stopped a putt from rolling off the 13th green. Clearly at the end of his tether after a shocking run of bogeys in his third round, the much-decorated American embarrassed himself when another putt rolled past the hole. Instead of waiting to see where it finished, he stopped the ball with his putter and knocked it back whence it came. (Photos/Video) It meant an automatic two-shot penalty and he ended up with a 10 for the hole. ´That´s absolutely amazing, that´s Phil basically giving
